Why Putin is "successfully" invading Ukraine

Years back, when he took over Crimea, he showed the first signs of bigger issues coming ahead. Putin is known to be an ex agent of the KGB. He knows exactly what he's doing (even if it seems he's not). Let me explaine: Putin, before risking it all he studied the scenario. Things like economical sanctions, the UN and NATO speech, were all previously considered by him and his closes circle.

Now, I am not defending him. I am in fact gonna defend the notion that there is never only one part of the story to be considered.

Days ago (when this nightmare was just starting) my empathy went for Ukraine. That have changed from the moment cases of ethnic discrimination started to arrive (cases of discrimination IN Ukraine).

According to the sources I read: Africans, Asians and Latin Americans; all have been discriminated by Ukranian police borders. In addition, let's remember what Putin said a few days ago:

Now, his pretext may seem exaggerated or week, but his propaganda is striking hard, after strong allegations of racism in Ukraine (within the chaos and thousand of Ukranian's trying to save their life).

Although it's true far right extremist are supporting Ukraine resistance: their same support is undermining the international image of Ukraine as a country been invaded by Russia. How's that working out? Despite the Russian invasion, is necessary to point out the infamous way Ukraine is managing the exit of refugees and foreighners. Creating in that instance an ethnic hierarchy, where white Ukranian's are first, whites (of any nationality, follows); then for last: people of non European descent.

How is that benefitting Putin, over the violence he's causing?

*Is pretty much easy: Putin rethoric of depicting Ukranian goverment as racist and nazi, is gaining force.

Unfortunately we are still in the point of not been able to see each other as human beings; when more than ever, we gotta be united.

The central problem is not only the geo political conflict, is also the human right violations non whites are experiencing in Ukraine. If it keeps going that way, Ukraine, inevitably is gonna drop in the trap between far right groups that support Ukraine, and those who rather be part of Russia; same way they were during the URSSN.

📌Ukrainian people are fearless, but if their government doesn't guarantee human rights for everyone (basic rights for nationals and foreighners), their nation will not receive the international support and credibility it needs, and so, this conflict is gonna prevail for long, with an hypocrisy that needs to be debunk.

Those being evacuated are Women, children and old people. These are the wives, sisters, mothers, girlfriends of those prepared to die for their country.

One of the biggest things for anyone in a war zone or similar is knowing that your family are safe, it is a fucking huge thing and cannot be understated.

Having confidence that your country is making a priority about evacuating your family, will give you peace and a chance to make ready for the end.

There have been multiple Brits, French and other nationalities stuck in Ukraine and not allowed to cross, a couple of stories here covered exactly that.

In 2014 Ukraine elected a president that was not a Putin loyalist and Putin has been at war with Ukraine and the West ever since. It's just that it was an information war. He attacked the US election in 2016. He attacked the UK with the Brexit thing. Putin has mastered the art of making self destruction seem edgy and hilarious and then unleashing that message on his enemies. Merkel was keeping NATO from being headless for a while, but she has been itching to retire for like a decade. It was all working for Putin until Trump lost in 2020. While we have no mutual defense treaty with Taiwan, Biden has made 2 statements publicly affirming our intention to help defend Taiwan. by the way - Xi will also strengthen his position in the South China Sea.

I am not defending Ukraine. But the issue is they are discriminating against people they feel are not Ukrainian. I know many African immigrants and children of African immigrants fleeing the war. No one in my circle has experienced this kind of racism. Don't get me wrong. They have experienced racism in Ukraine. I remember my friend telling me how they couldn't get admittance to a club because her husband at the time was from Nigeria.

Ukrainian nationalists are famously xenophobic. But make no mistake, their hatred for Russia and Russians far exceeds any bigotry towards African, Asian, or Latino nationals. I think a far bigger issue is the UN not being able to pass a resolution on refugees that include nationals in the country from Africa, the Middle East, Asia, etc.

European nations do not want to admit non-"White" refugees, because of the rise of right-wing nationalism in their own countries.

Is Ukraine losing an insane number of civilians? Yes, because Russia is intentionally maximizing Civilian casualties, which is really dumb on their part, because shooting civilians with machine guns or tanks/artillery is a waste of ammo which should better be deployed against a military target.

Ukraine will eventually repel the attack, but nobody will "win" the war. There is rarely a clear winner in real wars.

There is no court with jurisdiction over a russian agreement with other heads of state since Russia does not abide by most international initiatives. If you verbally tell someone you will sell them a car for $5000 then in many places its a binding agreement. So im not sure why you think a verbal promise would not be relevant. Either way Putin has directly stated this was the primary reason for the war and has made it the primary term to end the war. So i assume its quite important to him. Actually, there are written agreements between nations. And statements made by the US Secretary of State, without the backing of the White House or Congress would not be legally binding. Also, there is the International Court of Justice.
From the Department of State website: "Treaties and other international agreements are written agreements between sovereign states (or between states and international organizations) governed by international law. " There is even an Office of Treaty Affairs. It "manages the process under which the Department of State approves the negotiation and conclusion of all international agreements to which the U. S. will become a party. It also coordinates with the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on issues involving the Senate’s advice and consent to ratification of treaties." Putin's premises are all groundless, as is your analogy.

From what I've heard, the same black people who were mistreated at the border had been happily living deeper in Ukraine for years beforehand so... some racist a-holes are at the border. Doesn't prove/mean that all or most Ukrainians are racist.

According to an article I just read... the Ukrainians are taught lots of negative stuff about Africa but African immigrants can easily marry a local Ukrainian woman and have kids. During WW2, USA fought against Japan but even if USA is the bigger one of the 2, they never demonize themselves even for bombing Hiroshima and Nagasaki but they call themselves heroes. Succesfully is a big words considering they're losing more men everyday in Ukraine than they did when they tried to attack Afghanistan...
