+1 yThe problem began when the West started flirting with Ukraine to become part of NATO. It would be like Canada becoming aligned by Treaty with Russia.
Putin is a bully and wants Ukraine back as part of the USSR which fell apart during the Reagan's Presidency. Reagan was a strong leader who was very instrumental in the demise of the USSR. We no longer have leaders in Washington who can win wars without ever firing a shot. Sleepy Joe is just a puppet for people hiding behind a wall almost like the Wizard of Oz. We need somebody to pull back the curtain and expose who is really running our Government. That weakness on our part is why Putin is so bold.
In WWII Germany attacked Russia to get at the Oil fields. Guess where the oil is! The southern part of Russia and Ukraine. In 2021 Biden destroyed our national energy production and exposed us to great harm since Putin has the oil, and we are not allowed to produce our own.
Our hands are tied up on this one. We have no leverage to do anything about the mess we helped to create, and Europe has never shown the ability to unite and fight off aggression on their own. They always wants us to fight their wars.
Let's not forget that Biden signed off on the Pipeline from Russia to Germany so now Russia is supplying the majority of Gas and Oil to Germany. Germany may say angry things in response, but they will never stop helping Russia by shutting down the flow of energy to themselves and the flow of money back to Putin.
And please stop with the "we must save Democracy" crap. After taking power the opposition leaders in Ukraine were all jailed and the press became part of the ruling party or were shut down!00 Reply

+1 yWell the question is not really Ukraine.
that will be sanctions as nothing else can be used.
what will the response be to China moving to Taiwan and North Korea to South.
This now shows to both countries that the UN will do absolutely nothing.
Also Putin will simply be completing what ‘ethnic cleansing’ was started under the Tsars and then more with Lenin and Stalin.

If you move the entire population from an area and then put your people in, the area is only say Russian because the original population does not have a voice.
The other areas are in NATO and anything else would be a serious attack.
Also his excuse for NATO on his borders…. Sort of like he moved his borders and where NATO spending was dramatically reduced, the opposite will now most likely occur and NATO will strengthen.
I also expect other countries around the world to look for protection from potentially dodgy neighbours or from attacks.26 Reply- +1 y

There's not much anyone can do.
They can impose ever more severe sanctions, but that won't change Putin's mind - after all, he would have certainly anticipated that beforehand, but wasn't deterred. And when the Russian economy is weakened, it's the average Russian (wo) man on the street who will suffer, and end up resenting the West even more (especially when they're subjected to propaganda), which kind of plays into Putin's hands.
Noone's going to do anything drastic, like sending troops to defend Ukraine, or assassinating Putin, because they simply aren't prepared to risk starting WW3.
All the West can really do is support Ukraine indirectly, by providing weapons, training, intelligence, logistical support etc - turning it into yet another proxy war.
The only way to stop Putin really, would be for there to be huge protests in Russia, which for whatever reason, is not happening - maybe they're (justifiably) afraid of the punishment they'd receive; maybe they've been brainwashed by propaganda (or are just arseholes) and believe Putin is doing the right thing. Who knows?10 Reply- 549 opinions shared on Trending & News topic.
+1 yWell, we all knew this was going to happen. The issue is that he has struck at an opportune time. Could you imagine, him doing this if Trump would have won? He could do it unopposed. He would not have faced any sanctions or any repercussions. As it stands now, we can at least exact some punishment on him and his supporters. Putin is smarter than most folks give him credit. His support of Trump was a means to an end. Trump damaged NATO's credibility and the traditional alliances that would have crippled Russia long before now.
And now, we are now looking at a bleak future and the uncertainty of nuclear war. Because again. . .

I think if he had done this with Trump in, nukes would of been used by now. Trump didn't take no shit from anyone.
If they were buds, he could of done it unopposed back then, but it was Obama that let him start the invasion 8 years ago and he did nothing.
Sanctions never work, bet they won't here either. They did nothing for the Crimea invasion. I bet in five years, Ukraine will still be occupied, just like Crimea still is. - +1 y
@grega239 So you don't seem to remember just one post ago, agreeing that the war started 8 years ago? It started under Obama, who responded lifting the restrictions to NATO expansion that you just complained about. Then after much difficulty, enacted sanctions. Those sanctions didn't come by Obama's urging by the way. Europe largely ignored him. It was the Prime Minster of the Netherlands who actually won the day for Obama. Those sanctions crippled the Russia economy. I can attest to that since I was working in Eastern Europe at the time. And was in Moscow the day Russia invaded Crimea.
Then your boy, Trump lifted the sanctions. Because Putin wanted him too. And Trump assaulted NATO because Putin wanted him too. He also damaged the strategic alliances to the West. Because Putin wanted him too.
So why would Putin attack when Trump was doing exactly what he was asked to do?
Biden took office and immediately vowed support for Ukraine and for whatever path Ukrainians choose for themselves. Which of course, made Putin mad.
That is not what Putin wanted.
So since there is no President that will ensure no further NATO expansion, he thinks he can ensure that himself. The funny thing is, this will have the opposite effect.
Why you think we need to do that Putin wishes is beyond me. But Ukraine gave up its nuclear weapons in exchange for being left alone. Why would any nation in the future make such a deal, if the world won't guarantee its sovereignty? - +1 y
@Aerissa_Jade do you know why they did nothing for Crimea? Most people don't know about this, but Crimeia wanted to be part of Russia. They did a vote not long before the "invasion" and most wanted to be part of Russia. Makes sense since they were at the border and many spoke russian, had russian families, heavy Russian influence etc. Putin had no resistance and was in fact welcome by them.
About nukes.
Putin made a speech last week. Saying and I quote:
"NATOs army is superior. But Russia is a nuclear power. There will be no winners"
Word for word. He will use his nukes of he has to. And he not enough to win, but has enough to leave any county that defines him in shambles. - +1 y
I remember russia going into crimea. I dont remember a state of war being officially declared.
And if i remember correctly, sanctions against russia were lifted, because the west was squeezing the into a corner aka , they were fucking with russia just because they could.
Trump went after NATO, because he demanded the other members start pulling their weight. Without america , nato doesn't exist.
Putin is doin it now because biden is weak and incompetent as was demonstrated with the Afghanistan shit show.
Any vowes he made are empty.

@grega239 Well, you don't have to agree with war being officially declared. That's fine. The Ukrainians knew they were at war and they declared it. And they have declared it every day since. Donbass was gorgeous. Donestk was a beautiful city before the invasion.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQryuqFBYtA
Trump went after NATO because he was told to go after NATO. He damaged alliances because those alliances kept Russia at bay. Putin's aim was to separate the US from Europe. With Trump he succeeded.
I guess he was counting on Trump winning re-election. Either way, your argument doesn't make any sense. . . that somehow he would stay out of Ukrainian politics. . . simply because his stooge was in power. He simply would not have faced any retribution, having Trump claim he was a genius and was right. . . as a sitting President of the US.
- +1 y
Oh yeah i forgot. Trump is a puppet. Sorry my bad. The 2 year long investigation that found nothing was just for show.
Did putin tell him to go after nato and why haven't i heard about it? Because I've heard he supposedly had hookers piss on the bed obama used.
Here's a question. Why would trump hand power to putin. What does ye get out of it.
he's got all the money he wants.
Power? A us president wields more power than a russian president.
Does putin have dirt on him?
If so, why didn't he use it while trump was in office and create internal political chaos?
Trump went after nato because america is is the only reason it's taken seriously.
- +1 y
@grega239 1. That's a lie. But the funny thing is you pretend Trump did not say what he said. He did not say he believed Putin over his own intelligence agencies? He did not bribe the Ukrainian president by withholding aid. He did not work to lift the sanctions Obama had enacted on Russia?
So I am just saying, "make it make sense". Even if Mueller decided that he cannot criminally indict a sitting President, that does not;
A. Prove trump innocent,.
B. Erase all of the support he gave to Putin. Even if you were right about criminal intent. If you want to support Putin's goals, you vote for trump. If you want to challenge Putin, you vote for almost anyone else. It is nowhere near as complicated as you pretend it to be.
- +1 y
@El_Dugin So what is the solution? Do you think a world where Libya, Iraq, Brazil, Afghanistan, etc. all have nuclear weapons is a safer place? I am not saying the US is in the right. Surely, we have been guilty of war crimes. But we have to start somewhere. And starting with giving every nation nuclear weapons is a non-starter.
+1 yRussia is on the UN security council, so the UN is useless in the matter. Nothing can be done to stop Putin and nothing should be done. Any smaller western country who gets in the way will get squashed. The U. S. has no business fighting a war over borders that mean nothing to us. Countries like Germany have cut their defense spending so much that they couldn't stop the Russians if they wanted to. The U. K. would be standing alone and France is France. They'd fair about as well as they did in the second world war. Canada can't even get a few truckers under control, let alone the Russian army.

I have old friends in Ukraine. I still say that Kiev leaders are at fault! But now, those old friends may have to pay for the administration's mistakes.
Russia has one goal: replace the corrupt Ukrainian regime with a restructured new one. One that isn't run by the Mafiya, and one that knows how to pay it's electric bills. But if they kill too many more Russians and Donetskis, Russia may just go hyper nasty. They're not afraid of NATO and it's over 9000 genders parade. Russia doesn't care about how much Biden whimpers that the full length of his corruption in Ukraine is about to be blown open and undone. They couldn't care less that Biden, the Clintons, Romney, and Lindsey Graham are going to go bankrupt without their little shell games. And frankly, watching those corrupt members of Congress squirm is kinda making me hope Russia wins. @RolandCuthbert actions have consequence. They tried something, it didn't work. Still their problem
- +1 y
I am just asking for you to "make it make sense".
What did they try? They were a sovereign nation. That gave up their ability to defend themselves against Putin. And he invaded anyway. If you can't comprehend what that means for world politics then there is no reason to continue discussion. Because every backwards regime, insane dictator, or religious extremist can now justify obtaining, developing and using nuclear weapons to ensure their survival.
- +1 y
@RolandCuthbert never give up your defenses and then be surprised when somebody attacks. It's common sense
- +1 y
No it is not.
And look, I get it. When your life is pitiful and pathetic, you want everyone's existence to be pitiful and pathetic. What "we" were trying to negotiate was to stop nuclear proliferation. Because everyone knows without it, we are going to have nuclear war. And sure, I get that you are miserable so dying in nuclear war isn't a big deal. But for the rest of us who are happy, have love, travel, etc. we like living. So that's why we are going to enact the most severe sanctions we can. That's why Ukrainians are going to continue to punish Russians for every square inch they try to take in Ukrainian land. And that's why Russian people will continue to protest in the streets. And this will continue until Putin makes a different calculation or he is run out of power.
So if you want a different path, just vote for your boy next cycle.
Good luck.
- +1 y
@RolandCuthbert You have literally no idea what you are talking about and you just have claimed the moral high ground with no basis for it. You have also made insane assumptions about me without merit and then have attacked the strawman of your own creation instead of anything I have actually said. The thing that has stopped nuclear war was more countries having nuclear weapons. When one country had nuclear weapons, they were used. Once more than one country had them, they weren't. You are still regurgitating the same BS that we were told for fifty plus years and through all sorts of shit, your view has never come true. Why? Because people like living. People aren't going to move forward with mutually assured destruction. We have seen no major wars between countries that have nuclear weapons and tons of wars between countries that either have no nuclear weapons, or only nukes on one side. Your theory has been proven wrong time and time again.
- +1 y
@godsvengeance And that is absolute lie. You would feel good with North Korea having nukes and the capability to launch at any target on this planet? How about Iraq? Libya? Iran? Brazil? We have treaties against nuclear proliferation for a reason. If most of the planet agreed with you, we would have nuclear weapons everywhere.
Clearly we do not. Clearly nations like Japan and Germany have rejected them. And your mutually assured destruction means nothing to a madman/dictator. Putin has threatened nuclear war over Ukraine, a sovereign nation simply because they are the only ones with the guts to stand up to him.
So keep posting for your troll next on the internet. Keep hoping for everyone's lives to be as unpredictable and miserable as your own.
The rest of us will continue to support the sanctions crippling Putin's economy. Ukrainians will continue to punish him for every inch of Ukrainian land. And you can cry your little tears in to a cup for us to drink.

That is an unhealthy habit and you should try to learn how logic works and stick to the arguments. As soon as you sink to personal attacks, you are advertising to those around you that you already think that you have lost the argument.
- +1 y
@godsvengeance There is no projection son. I am just looking at another clownish cowardly troll on the net. And I am just posting what I see and read.
So I advise you to go out and get an actual life. Maybe if you get some folks who you can care about and who would care about you in return you might see things the way most human beings do.
As for your use the term projection, you seem to have an issue understanding English.
In order for me to "project", my life would have to be as pitiful and pathetic as yours. Which is certainly is not. It just full of worry and concern for folks who are in harm's way. But they love me and I love them.
That's a far cry from being a standard troll at GaG.
Get rid of Biden. It never would’ve happened if Trump was in office nor would my gas prices be sky high nor would illegal invaders be streaming across my southern border unchecked

@This_Is_My_Opinion8 we had peace under Trump
- +1 y
@This_Is_My_Opinion8 This moron again. Do you have any evidence of your claims.
- +1 y
@Pterodon you had peace during Trump because the last Ukrainian president and Putin got along.
This current one is only in office since 2019 and recently said he wanted to be part of NATO. Well Putin really doesn't want that.
It doesn't matter what president the US has, the problem is the president Ukraine has. - +1 y
@This_Is_My_Opinion8 nope it’s biden. He shut down the Keystone XL pipeline that would’ve supplied us with the same amount of DOMESTIC oil we now import from Russia so Putin can fund his invasion

@This_Is_My_Opinion8 Trump isn’t afraid of Putin unlike biden. Biden is a pussy
- +1 y
Don't know it he is afraid of him or not, but he clearly would not go against him.
All, anyone with a brain should be afraid if Putin. We are talking about a mad man who has access to serious nuclear power. - +1 y
@This_Is_My_Opinion8 I’m not afraid of him. We have nukes too. I’ll play chicken with him all day

I know you have nuke stoo. But for everyone you sent you will get one too. Do you want millions to die and your country half destroyed?

@Ryfyle same to you.
You two don't seem to have a grasp on reality. Just 8/11 was the catastrophe that it was. Are you underrating that day? And a Russian Tsar Bomba would be much much worse than 9/11.
@Ryfyle I do think for myself. That's what makes me have actual notion of what you clearly don't. - +1 y
@This_Is_My_Opinion8 yes I do know. So did the Alamo defenders. I will not back down. I’m not a coward pussy like you

In there lies the problem. We can't let Russia do as Putin pleases, but we can't sent and army and cause a world war either. That's why NATO is imposing heavy sanctions instead. To avoid a WW3.

@RolandCuthbert yea thats known but as soon as they attack a nato state its a full european war

Most folks here don't seem to realize just how much Ukraine gave up for its sovereignty.
Now we will see if sleepy Joe is vital enough to run a country when it needs a leader.

@invalid1 Trumpers don't think clearly. The only thing trump would have done is given Putin a blowjob via the media at this point.
- +1 y
Trump already had words of praise for his BFF Putin.
Remember he gets all his financing through Russian Banks, he litteraly offered Putin the penthouse suite in his Moscow hotel. - +1 y
@Slartybartfast don't cry that Trump kept Putin from attacking and Biden can't function
- +1 y
@888thegreat Trumper, the war in Donbass was started eight years ago. Russians and Ukrainians have been dying there ever since. Just because Tucker Carlson is an idiot doesn't mean the rest of us aren't able to get our news directly from Russia and Ukraine.
So no, Trump did not stop or prevent an invasion of Ukraine.
- +1 y
@RolandCuthbert Keep living in the land of make believe and hating Trump
- +1 y
@888theGreat he is right. Trump would have done absolutely nothing about this. Not even given Putin sanctions.
But let's be real Joe isn't giving them any real sanctions. The only county actually applying heavy sanctions to Russia is Germany. - +1 y
DONALD TRUMP: I said, this is genius. Putin declares a big portion of the Ukraine - of Ukraine - Putin declares it as independent. Oh, that's wonderful. So Putin is now saying it's independent - a large section of Ukraine. I said, how smart is that?
- +1 y
@888theGreat Keep living in the land of licking Trump's anus.
Look, I get it. It isn't like you have a life to look forward too.
But many of us do.
- +1 y
@This_Is_My_Opinion8 That's really a weird assessment given that the only reason why Germany is ditching the Nord Stream 2 is because of Biden's urging.
The fact is that the U. S. can't really do much because we don't have much interaction with Russia's economy. But Europe can have a significant impact. That's where we need cooperation and a coherent strategy.
- +1 y
@RolandCuthbert did not know about the first part of that.
- +1 y
Eric Trump "Well, we don't rely on American banks. We have all the funding we need out of Russia.' "
- +1 y
@This_Is_My_Opinion8 We could do Swift. But Germany and Italy are opposed. I can't blame them,. because we are not prepared at this point. But we need to get there really quickly. Lock them out of every doggoned thing there is.
- +1 y
@RolandCuthbert I don't think anyone will help Ukraine at this point. They will march and try to take Kiev soon and the president is refusing to leave the capital.
- +1 y
@This_Is_My_Opinion8 Militarily no. But you have to understand, this war has just started. Putin will kill or imprison the President of Ukraine. And then he will install a puppet government.
Ukrainians will reject it. There will be an ongoing insurgency for years.
- +1 y
@RolandCuthbert I know. This will escalate sooner or later.

@888theGreat This is how idiotic you are. Ukraine actually had more nukes than China at one point. They gave up the nukes in exchange for peace with your "smart" guy, Putin.
www.indiatoday.in/.../ukraine-regret-russia-attack-gave-up-nuclear-weapons-now-bombed-killed-1917255-2022-02-24
Three decades ago, Ukraine gave up its nuclear arsenal in exchange for security guarantees. Now, with Russia invading the country, it appears to be regretting its decision. - +1 y
@RolandCuthbert Putin was smart to take them , now he can kick their ass for their stupidity

@RolandCuthbert That is why you liberals are stupid and never are going to understand. You don't get peach by giving up weapons and your military , you get your ass kicked and your mother raped. @888theGreat Just because I am not batshit crazy, doesn't mean I am a liberal.
I may simply not be batshit crazy. :)
The funny thing is, I am all for arming the military in response to the Russian threat. Of course we need to beef up in Poland, Germany, Italy, France, etc.
But beefing up for Russia is being a liberal.
While beefing up for a non-existent China threat is somehow conservative in that insane fucked up ass piece of sausage you call a brain.

@JoyGirl : He wants to provoke a war, to distract from his economic failures and the jab narrative crumbling. Plus, that would also give him an excuse to enact an emergency war act, which he'd love to immediately abuse, the way Trudeau abused such power in Canada and then got himself in hot water for it.
Russia, however, isn't taking the bait. And it's not even so much Biden doing it, as he can barely put two brain cells together. It's Obama, working behind him, pulling the usual OFA crap. - +1 y
@JoyGirl : And in only 24 hours, it got worse. Ukraine doubled down on shelling Donetsk. So Russia has retaliated. And while all eyes were on Russia, 26,000 Afghan terrorists were smuggled into the US by Team Biden (*cough*, Obama *cough*)! Think: 26,000 Taliban, smuggled by our own government, onto US soil, some of them possibly in your back yard!
They hate you and me; and they're now using Ukraine as a distraction to kill us. But rather than kill you outright, they're gonna bribe these degenerates from another country into doing it for them! That way, they're gonna pretend to have clean hands! - +1 y

@DaveJord : One of the oldest political tricks in the book: when an official is failing, and worried that the country will turn on him, he starts a war. Every time the economy sours, a war conveniently erupts - with perfect timing - somewhere far away. This is even discussed in Orwell's books!
