hi! so the term misandry gets thrown around a lot on here. i’ve even been accused of being a misandrist a few times.

i’m not AT ALL saying misandry doesn’t exist — it does. all i want to make everyone aware of is that fighting against the patriarchy is NOT misandry. men are oppressed by the patriarchy as well.

misandry is often employed by terfs, who are fucking awful and not actual feminists. look at shitty posts like this one:

I was brought up to be afraid of women. Here's what I don't understand. What patriarchy? Just going to any downtown you'll find like a billion women's clothing stores. Women are in every single workplace and are respected for their work now more than ever. There might not be 50/50 women in power but there are definitely more women in government positions than ever before in history. And even the men in charge of companies or government often praise women or support women's movements in some capacity or another. Women outperform men in school and are often in relationships

The only place in society with majority men is like construction, timber or just very intense physicals labor and even then there might be women there working and respected for their work

This is sadly true. People tend to whip up others in to hate, and before you know it we have counter hate groups and it just doesn't stop. The internet has just been the worst for people to anonymously show their hate, often times with multiple accounts to show fake support for themselves, or buying followers to come across as if they have some clout. I don't think you hate men, but feminism as a moment, as an idea, is just about as unwelcoming to men as can possibly be. It is very hard to support a movement that expects your unconditional support and sees your issues, opinions and perspectives as irrelevant.
