The New Snapchat Update

Is anyone else baffled by Snapchat's new update? Here's an explanation.

Remember back when Snapchat removed their 'best friend' display? Paranoid stalkers everywhere lost the chance to peek into their victims' snapchat habits, and there was either outcry (if you cared) or general antipathy (if you didn't). Well, looks like Snapchat have decided to respond to the complaints of the masses that they simply can't live without knowing their friends' Snap habits, and have implemented a system far more complex and technical than merely a 'top friends' list. What is this sophisticated system? Emojis, of course.

The New Snapchat Update
Here's an explanation of the emojis:

Smiley face - This person is one of your best friends

Gritted Teeth - You have a mutual top friend. That is, your top friend (the person you send Snaps to the most) is also this person's top friend.

Sunglasses - You have a mutual best friend. One of the people you send snaps to most is also one of the people this person sends snaps to most.
*Note that 'best friends' is not the same as 'top friend'. Your 'top friend' is the ONE person you Snap the most. Your 'best friends' are a number of people you Snap a lot.

Smirk - You're their best friend, but they aren't yours. You're one of the people they send snaps to the most, but they're not one of the people you send snaps to most. Ouch to them, but it's a relatively good position to be in.

Fire - You and this person have sent snaps back and forth for consecutive days shown. The number of days is the number shown.

Gold Heart - The symbol that this person is practically your soulmate. This person is your top friend on Snapchat, and you're their best friend as well. Everything is all rainbows and happiness.

Well, I hope this helped. Snapchat have truly decided to make Snapping an intricate social art.

Happy Snapchatting!
