How can a shy/quiet girl have lots of tattoos and piercings?

Okay there's this girl at work who hardly ever talks and keeps her self to her self, but the other day she showed everyone all her tattoos, which we had never seen before because she always wears a jumper

Everyone thought it was so weird that someone so un-'badass' and shy can basically be covered in tattoos, and she just shrugged her shoulders

Anyone else think its weird?

Generally people with tattoos might look scary or intimidating but when you actually talk to them most are actually mild mannered and meek people some you might say are even weak minded. Have you ever seen the show in the tattoo parlour with all the sob stories then you know what im talking. "Body art" is the done thing nowadays and all the sheep have tramp stamps and sleaves kidding themselves that they are unique and different when its really uniformity. But it always been "cool" to follow the herd.

You sound just like my manager. I had gone into work on a day off so all of my tattoos were showing and then the next time I worked with him he said he had a hard time believing I was actually shy because of all of the tattoos I have.

Shyness has no relation to the art one puts on their body.

Oh god again the tattoos are compared with being "badass". Tattoos are art, some use it too express themself, some just enjoy the looks. Who even cares its her own choice to have tattoos. How do you even know she isn't a badass? maybe she is just respecting you guys because you aren't "badass" and have tattoos hahahah

Tattoos aren't "badass" automatically. They have to actually be cool. Most tattoos I see on people are actually pretty faggy. Most art is in general I suppose.

Not everyone that has a tattoo is a "badass". I'm not, I just like art and tattoos are art. My aunt is also not a "badass" she's a sweet, quiet, religious woman who just got her first tattoo last month with my uncle. Not going to lie, that was a bit of a shocker, but people have personal reasons for tats. :)

It's not weird at all. I know so many shy/quiet/unassuming people (male and female) who have tattoos and piercings and brightly coloured or unusually styled hair.
