Anonymous(36-45)+1 yI actually know quite a few guys who'd never marry a short woman because they don't want their kids to be short. So it IS a consideration for some people. I do feel for short men - let's face it, life is more difficult for them.
Luckily for me I am tall and I do prefer tall women (nothing to do with kids though). One thing I've noticed is that short women tend to be very hypocritical when it comes to height. Many of them are so vocal about preferring tall men but whenever they find out I prefer tall women (long legs and all) they get all offended and sometimes even angry. Like only they are allowed to care about height or have preferences.01 Reply

So your saying men should only date girls who look like this?

Asker+1 yI'd be down for all of them. But I meant like 5'8" and up in my hypothetical bs scenario.

+1 yI'm 4'11.
My mom is 4'9.5
My dad is like 5'2 or 5'3. He was skanky though and he had women throw themselves at him left and right. Which sucks because he'd constantly cheat on my mom.
I agree. Let's stop breeding with the conventionally unattractive and undesirable to rid them. This includes small breasted women, men with small members, short men, chubby people, hairy women, etc. This way only the beautiful will survive and spread their beautiful genes.04 Reply
Asker+1 yWell the things you listed aren't as universal as women not liking short men, except maybe hairy women (depending on what you mean) and fat people.
- +1 y
@Eric644 there is a correlation between genetics and obesity. Not sure if it's genes themselves or just lazy habits being passed down.
@asker, too late! Why stop there? Let's get rid of all the uglies, undesirables, and lessers. Because once short guys are gone, then hairy women will complain about their cursed genes. And then fat people. Then those predisposed to premature balding.
So why stop at short? Let's rid the population of all undesirable traits. - +1 y
Vast majority of people have an average metabolism; meaning people usually gain weight because they consume too many calories. Then there are the minority of people who have fast and slow metabolisms, and even that is do to hormones and how active someone is not really genetics. What makes people think that being obese is genetic is that it is passed down to children, what people don't understand that no fat gene is actually passed down, it's actually habits, children learn their eating and activity habits from their parents so if mommy and daddy have terrible habits, it is very likely that those habits will be learned by their children. There is a rare gene that causes predisposition to being fat "gene x" but that gene is only carried by 5% of the population
574 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. There are short women who date/like short men though, and there are tall women who like/date short men. There's also this thing called a recessive gene/trait that won't allow for something to be completely washed out. Short people would end up existing anyway, and there's no changing that.

Asker+1 yI touched on that.
Asker+1 yBut then tall guys are not short men looking for short women. Which is the point.
- +1 y
You'd be surprised at how many tall guys have a preference for shorter women. Also what's wrong with a woman having a preference for tall men? It's like how many guys have a preference for no being with a black woman, especially a dark skinned one even though they say race doesn't matter as long as she's any other race but the one I mention. No one rants and raves about that and instead they put it as a preference. People like what they like and there's no changing that.
Asker+1 yYou don't understand what I'm saying. But I do agree with you on the black thing, whether they want to admit it or not, that's unconscious racism.
Asker+1 yYea, you can't blame someone for being unconsciously racist as long as they aren't perpetuating typical racism, they didn't have a choice in the environment they were raised in. But for someone to say "Oh, I don't date black guys or Asian guys", so every single black/asian guy on earth, you're not or wouldn't be attracted to, not a single one? Come on now, that's fundamentally unconsciously (or purposefully in most cases) racist.
Asker+1 yI'm going to call it like I see em.
- +1 y
I personally have no preference when it comes to race or height. Hell, I crushed on a guy who was 5'3" which is just 2 inches taller than me, but I decide not to go for it since I knew what his type (He prefers petite blondes and gingers) was since we've been friends for years. But I wouldn't go ranting and raving about how he's a "racist" just because I don't fit his preference. That would just make me look like I'm sort of a salty person and I don't feel like going down that road.
Asker+1 yI feel like everything I'm saying is going over your head. How the fuck would your height have anything to do with race? Someone who chooses not to date someone of a particular race is not automatically a bigot, in most cases they are and are usually trying to hide it, but in a situation where they are from what you can tell a pretty tolerant person everywhere else, that is racism but it is unconscious, do you know what the word means?(This isn't condescending either, it might sound like it but don't take it that way)
Asker+1 yHey Sherlock, no shit. What race are you?
Asker+1 yTbf using colorful language ≠salty. I'd prefer Uncle Salty though. And if any peoples should know about unconscious bias/racism, it's black people. And that's not monolithic.
- +1 y
Fine I'll call you Uncle Salty, and I know that unconscious racism is around, but when you point it out to said unconscious racist they'll just view it as an attack, act like an ass about it, and dismiss it as a preference. So instead of talking to people about their "preference" I just go along with it and try not to waste my time any further.
Asker+1 ySame. But this is the internet, a. k. a everyone's soapbox so fuck it. And Uncle Salty is an Aerosmith reference, old 70s rock band.
Asker+1 yI'm black also, and most black people I know have no clue about Aerosmith. Didn't want to leave you hanging on the reference in case you didn't.
- +1 y
People have arightto preferences, but it becomes a problem when preferences become requirements and good people are excluded just because of a stupid thing like height or race, I have a preference for white blondes but does that mean women who aren't that should be excluded because of that, no, I've dated women of all ethnic backgrounds and found them attractive even though they weren't my preference
Asker+1 y@Eric644 I agree, preference should not become requirements, that's a great point.
+1 yBut that means there won't be any short women which a lot of guys love.

Most men I know tall or short go for the short chick. So how many guys are going to want all those tall chicks your breeding program creates?
Asker+1 yBut most men will fuck most women, doesn't matter if they're all tall, we're not as picky as you. Look at fat chicks.
- +1 y
Men are more picky than people realise when it comes to relationships
Asker+1 yAre you really trying to say men are more picky than women? What planet are you on?
- +1 y
For relationships and marriage yes for sex no.
Asker+1 yI know you want to portray your gender in a good light but come on now. That is a god damn lie.
- +1 y
Asker is right women are worse. With men preferences are just preferences, with women preferences are requirements. Why do you think men add a couple of inches to their height, could you really say you would still consider them if they were 5'10 and not 6ft as you initially thought.
- +1 y
Thats New York women which funningly enough allows the men who meet rheir requirements to litterally pump dump pick and choose as they please. My guy is 5.10 which is tall enough.
- +1 y
Or 5ft? No I wouldn't. Besides my guys 5.10 if he started shrinking id be worried about his health lol
Asker+1 yLol I'd be worried about his health too, unless he's 65.
- +1 y
Ok, some men do have a tendency to round though, some men will say they are 5'10 when in reality they are a quarter or half of an inch shorter, glad that you are open if such a scenario would be true but many women would dump a man over something as stupid as an inch or less than an inch
- +1 y
Do we not lose an inch in height from morning to night

I'm 5'7 which is considered short, but you have a point, ideally I would want my wife to be over 5'5 so my sons won't have to go through being short like I did

Asker+1 yDamn sonny chim. I feel for you, how tall are your parents?
- +1 y
6'2 and 5'9 LOL I got lucky
Asker+1 yLife's a bitch but hey, then you die so it's all good. If you have kids though, make sure they drink A LOT of milk, that's how the Dutch got so tall.
Asker+1 yI'm dead serious too.
- +1 y
Well it's artificial growth hormone in meat which is banned in Europe, that makes European American shorter then Normal Europeans. Fun Fact.
Asker+1 yWhat?
- +1 y
Just marry a tall woman and your chances of having tall sons would be 100 percent since you also are a carrier of tall genes but height is more strongly inherited from the mother but your genes won't hurt it will just increase the chances from like 75% to almost 100% that your sons will be tall, also make sure your sons don't take anything that will stunt their growth, accutane stunted my growth
Anonymous(30-35)+1 yI'd only reproduce with a woman who is 5'8 or more...
But I'm not getting into dating, relationships or marriage in THIS LIFE lol04 Reply
Asker+1 yExactly, why purposely curse your offspring to be manlets?
Opinion Owner+1 yI'm much taller than 5'8 and there would be NO CHANCE of that lol
Asker+1 yIn the world that we live in, any man that reproduces with tiny women don't care enough to think about what their sons life is going to be like in this dating climate.
Opinion Owner+1 yMen are slowly moving away from dating and relationships. Marriage will soon die.
These days its just not worth going anywhere with women. They're nothing but trouble
Fine by me, as I am not short by anyone's guess.

Asker+1 yIf you're over 7 foot, let me get those digits gurl.
That actually doesn't work.
Asker+1 yTo completely wipe out short people, no. But if you mate tall men and women together for some generations they would mostly produce tall offspring, lowering the chance for the shorter offspring, although the gene would still be there, it wouldn't pop up as much,
Asker+1 yI'd just get some Dutch people to start the work. They're pretty much all tall, women too.
Asker+1 yThe Dutch were supposedly short over a century ago, the main reason they became tall was because of their diet, so I believe nutrients would play a bigger albeit different role in accelerating human growth if anything more than just selective breeding.
- +1 y
Selective breeding, in husbandry, has way more to deal with the size of an animal than diet alone.
Keep in mind that most of the world, one century ago, was rather small. Three centuries ago humans were rather tiny. Advancements in resources definitely helped this but long-term differences are built through genetic engineering, or "breeding programs", whichever you prefer to ascribe agricultural progress to.
Asker+1 yEhh. Look at North Korea, their male population due to extreme famines were significantly shorter (nigh 5 fucking inches) compared to South Korea's (who are the same ethnicity of peoples) who were experiencing no famines and had a way more rich diet. Nutrition goes a lot farther than genetic engineering when it comes to matters like these.
- +1 y
You're looking at it backwards; short-term differences in animal husbandry are created through diet but long-term differences are created through breeding. If you feed two identical horses differently, one with a great diet, the other with a poor diet, of course they are not going to turn out the same but if both of these horses are allowed to breed their offspring maintains the same potential because your genetics don't (for better worse relating to few generations) break down based on your own comparative resource allotment.
You are looking at the short-term. You are proposing a long-term solution.
Asker+1 yWe must have fell off somewhere because I agree with what you're saying, and the conversation switched.
