Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yThe biggest part of white privilege is that most white people go about their lives rarely thinking about race.
But really, that's sort of like saying you have privilege for not having a physical disability. If you stop and think about it, of course you have massive privilege vs. someone who needs mobility aids etc. But you think of your own experience as 'normal'.
So that's part of it.
The other part is that things have changed in many areas, to the point that I basically never directly, in person, see or hear overt racism. I stand around with white people chatting, and none of them say anything racist. Ever. So it's easy to imagine that nobody is thinking anything racist, and that it's like that everywhere.
My own sense is that 'white privilege' in my country exists but is very small. There's a more noticeable 'black disadvantage' (i'm drawing the distinction because we have more 'brown' than black people here, and their disadvantage to white people is very minor). That's not to say that many 'brown' people might not have disadvantages, but -most- aren't skin tone related.
I think for skeptics, its easiest to start with the most clear cut examples, and see if that can open their eyes to seeing potentially more. Everyone isn't going to agree on the extent of privilege, and that's okay. But that's a starting point.20 Reply

+1 yAbout seven non-white people are downvoting everyone who disagrees with this. Well ok I'm not gonna say that it doesn't exist but none the less look at it from a white person's perspective. Or any person's for that matter - it does not fall within a human's psyche to openly admit that they have it better all the time as opposed to someone who doesn't. The reason for that is because then they will be forced to not only feel sorry and pity for the less fortunate, they may also end up pandering to the less fortunate.
Any underprivileged person could adhere to a privileged person's feelings and start demanding special treatment. White people just want to live their lives normally - if they're gonna start admitting that they have it better in every aspect of life then they'd have to start sacrificing their normality just to "make it even" with minorities.
And who would want that? No one.
So perhaps some deny white privilege because they're content with the way things are. But I'm willing to guess that most deny it because they legitimately believe it just doesn't exist - white Americans living in trailer parks would probably beg to differ about white privilege.18 Reply- +1 y
Socioeconomically yeah I would agree with you on that, but even then I wouldn't fully agree. I work in an engineering firm where it's 7 in all, 4 light skinned complected and 3 more on the darker side and every single time we go out for lunch or go out somewhere together... guess who gets the dirty looks or the I forgot you were even there during our lunch meets? I can assure you it's not the 4 and keep in mind these are all educated engineers.

But that is a case of personal dislike - not systematic.
- +1 y
How so? Who gives you the bad looks? The management or just random people? If it's the later then it's personal and you can't blame the system for that. I can't blame the government every time some thief tries to mug me.
- +1 y
I'm not denying that - all I'm saying is that the you can't blame all white people for the behaviour of some assholes.
- +1 y
And that I already answered - because it would be highly inconvenient to accept it.
455 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. It does exist though. They're in denial.
I'm gonna quote some guy who wrote a paper about it and has a Ph. D because he explains it a hell of a lot better than I can:
"Privilege, particularly white or male privilege, is hard to see for those of us
who were born with access to power and resources. It is very visible for
those to whom privilege was not granted. Furthermore, the subject is
extremely difficult to talk about because many white people don’t feel powerful or as if they have privileges others do not.
It is sort of like asking fish to notice water or birds to discuss air. For those
who have privileges based on race or gender or class or physical ability or
sexual orientation, or age, it just is- it’s normal. "92 Reply- +1 y
well chosen. likewise, discrimination is hard to see unless you're in the target group.

+1 yBecause it doesn't exist. It's just another term used by whiners. Quite frankly I don't give a flying fuck about people who go on about white privilege. It's nothing more than one more excuse to blame everyone else for their problems instead of just dealing with it. I get so damn sick and tired of hearing all the fucking whiners.

but racists are blind TO racism, including their own in most cases.
look at trump "I love the blacks." <this statement by itself is racist, but a racist wouldn't understand why. lol
In short, they likely just don't see it-nor is it convenient for their (racist) worldview to see it.20 Reply386 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. All people can say to this is "where can I find it?". But the fact is when you live the same life for years upon years you will not notice it, I don't even notice it but I can still admit it exists. To really notice it I would have to step in a black persons shoes. People are just in denial and don't want to admit racism is still a problem.

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yIt takes a colored minority to only recognize it, because they're the ones being pointed at and face discrimination. Sure whites can get discriminated too, but not to the same extent.
51 Reply- +1 y
bullshit. you're saying whites can't recognize it by simply being white. that's idiotic AND racist-so double idiotic. All it takes is empathy and likely some connection TO minority discrimination.
There are many ways this can happen to a white person: they can be a religious minority or an atheist. if either they will experience discrimination WORSE than blacks in the latter case for example because data shows atheists are the most hated group (I think muslims passed them recently though, but historically-atheists are hated baselessly). Or what if they have an adoptive black parent-they'd see it first hand left and right, etc. Or what if they are an empath... empaths always relate to underdogs the most, sometimes too much. They may not know what it's like TO BE black, but they fuckin A will recognize what it is.
That said-yes it's true it's easier to SEE the oppression, GET IT if and when you're IN THE CLASS being oppressed. thus why most women don't see how evil feminism is

+1 yMy dad was a lorry driver and my mum was a part time janitor. The only reason I had an education was because of child benefits. My school dinner through all of Secondary School was a Frosties Cereal Bar and a bottle of water, for seven years straight. My hobby as a boy wasn't playing games, but reading about them because I'd never be able to afford them. I've lived off £1 microwave meals for over half of my life, and I still sleep in the same bed I had when I was 5.

44 Reply- +1 y
I need some scholarships, where can I find these?
- +1 y
Historically Black University offer scholarships exclusively for white people. Historically Black Universities desperately want diversity at their institution and they are thirsty at the idea of admitting a non-black student.
A white, Asian or Hispanic person can essentially go through University debt free if they decide to capitalize on the non-black scholarships offered at HBCU (there a lot of them). However, most non-blacks don't desire to go to schools where they are the extreme minority (despite the financial benefit) and instead go somewhere else.

"White privilege" is a myth coined by non-Europids (non-whites), Europid apologists, Europid internalized racists (the person that hates his own race) and other sorts of retarded left-wing that want to degenerate the society they live in.
When used by non-Europids, generally it holds a huge amount of hypocrisy and desire to shift the blame somewhere else, instead of focusing on own issues.
It also becomes extremely obvious when they move to a society (which, surprisingly, is overwhelmingly Europid, i. e. white) which is infinitely better than the one they moved away from (wonder why lol), but stick to their native culture/religion that may just be the reason (gasp!) that their native lands are a shithole to begin with. This is extremely relevant to Arabs/Negroes that come from islamic countries. - +1 y
So they move in, show no respect, regards or desire to assimilate into the local culture, completely alienate themselves from the native population and when they encounter the same attitude towards them, they suddenly start yapping "white privilege" and other sorts of left-wing idiotic statements, just to make themselves feel better as it's not them that are the problem, the place where they moved in to is, although they moved there to begin with because it's just better! - +1 y
Also those that yell "white privilege" exhibit extreme prejudice when it's vice-versa, for example terror against Europid farmers in South Africa that were driven away by force and (suddenly) a local economy went to shit as soon as they left.
Same applies to fanatic Arabs in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and other places (although it's more related to religion), where they harass, terrorize & extort those that don't belong to their race/religion (mainly Christians), but nobody cares about that for some odd reason.
So anyone that claims "white privilege" exists in my mind cannot be accepted as even remotely intelligent person. It instantly tells me that a person is retarded uneducated apologist, the "never my fault" type of folk that can't fix his own issues and always seeks someone else to blame. - +1 y
The guy in your meme still has plenty of warm clothes. He has shoes on his feet, he can afford to shave, he has access to food banks and lodgings, and he probably earns more through busking on the streets than the average black African child will ever to able to earn no matter how hard they work. And yet, all you and he are doing is moaning about how hard you have it, and about the big bad "Arabs and Negroes" who have less than you do for "stealin' ma benefits!". That's a clear example of an entitled, privileged mentality.
