I have heard people claim to feel more empathy towards a certain gender. For me personally it makes no difference on the persons gender, only there story, what i think of them and how i read them, i can feel empathy for male or female exactly the same, how about you, are you like this?
I feel empathy more towards Women.
I feel empathy more towards Men.
I feel empathy towards Men and Women the same.
I feel no empathy for anyone.

Actually we know that every one, men and women, have more empathy for women then men. All you have to do is look at how our society works to see this. In every category men are failing/being held back yet we continue to talk about how bad women have it. We hear that poverty is a womans issue, yet 80% of the homeless population is male. We hear about how female circumcision is horrible (we call it mutilation when its done to a woman yet circumcisions when its done to an infant boy) so much so that its illegal and still you will hear about how bad it is and how it needs to be banned in other nations meanwhile the people who say this ignore the fact that 70% of all males in the united states are circumcised as infants and thus against their will (and up until probably about 10-15 years ago without anesthetic) and while only a few groups in a few places practice female circumcision male circumcision is far more prominent and even promoted despite the fact that from a medical standpoint your more likely to bleed to death from the procedure then actually need it for medical purposes (all the claims of its benefits have been proven to be false time and time again, and are the same claims made about female circumcision.) Also male circumcision is done to reduce sensitivity I. e. to control sexuality just like it is in women yet again, we ignore this and make excuses for why its okay when its done to men but not okay when done to women. Then you have the fact that while domestic violence has been shown to be non gendered (and some studies have shown men are actually more likely to be victims of it then women) yet we have 1500 domestic violence shelters for women in the US, but only one, ONE, for men. Also our legal actions in cases of domestic violence is to presume the guilt of the man not the woman and in the vast majority of cases women are not punished for being violent (even though they are statistically more likely to use a weapon when assaulting others. In one case a woman stabbed her boyfriend in the thigh, she was let off with a warning). The same holds true for rape as well where all data shows that women rape men at comparable rates yet we refuse to acknowledge as something that happens. If you look at sentencing, women get a third of what men get for the same crime (if sentenced at all as they are far more likely to have their charge reduced to a lesser one then men as well). etc. So yes every one (in general) has greater empathy for women then men.
I think I feel more empathy towards men mostly because as a man I can better relate to them, but then again I think I feel more sympathy towards women. Might be an evolutionary things, I don't know.
I definitely feel more empathy towards men and towards men's issues. I've jokingly referred to myself as the female version of a white knight a dozen times, and I'll be completely honest with you I could be referred to as a misogynist. Women as individuals I like and admire, but women as a whole I have several negative biases about, especially feminists.
Nope, in all honesty, my empathy doesn't discriminate by gender. It may, however, discriminate by age group--I've noticed that I feel the most empathy towards children and seniors, whereas I feel the least empathy towards folks within my age range :3
I think it has to do with the fact that people within our age group are our highest source of competition. Plus, if I'm expected to fend for myself at this age, I figure that others my age should do the same.
I tend to be more empathy towards men as well actually, but i do feel empathetic to both genders, i think this is because of what you say when a man cry its often for a bigger reason.
I think I feel more empathy for men but sympathy for women.
With men I can connect and understand their situation from the logical and emotional side. Women tend to be quite emotional at first in a certain situation and it's quite difficult for me to understand them, thus, sympathy.
Was more A , now firmly C , after learning the hard way that women are not necessarily the emphatic , caring , nurturing beings they are often portrayed as , whereas men = evil bastards !! It's quite even between the genders for ratios of decent people to utter shitbags !!
Be careful who you give empathy too. Some people will take advantage of the fact that you have this good heart. They will manipulate you for their own means and offer nothing back. Once you figure this out. You should not give them your empathy because they don't really need it. What they need is integrity.
Fair enough, I suppose I don't pay much attention to such things as I don't feel more empathy towards someone because of their gender. Though then again, I seem to be less empathic than the average person, which might affect it.
I feel empathy for individuals.. Although sometimes I do connect with men more because I know the hardships of bein a man sometimes.. Like if I watch Law & Order: SVU I always hope that the male character wasn't the rapist.. LOL..
Not really. I feel empathy for everyone regardless of gender... that is, if they act like jerks I'm not going to be very friendly with them, but still...
I think that generally people show more empathy towards people they wanna bump uglies with, whether they want to admit it or not. For women it tends to be men and for men it tends to be women.
Used to feel more for women but since actually looking for love online I know most of them are just as ignorant shallow and cold hearted and selfish as most men so just people suck I general
I feel more empathy towards women because I know that men can easily over come difficult experiences than women do. I know that sounds terrible, but that is something I've noticed from my experience.
I like to think im quite empathetic to anyone but I guess if I saw another girl going through similar stuff I've been through I would have more empathy for her

I feel the same, but I express it more to women since apparently being empathetic to a man means you're a gay weird mo-fo. ... Which makes no sense but hey, whatever.
