I think they do. These days a woman can just say she was raped and people are inclined to assume the man is guilty before it's even been proven. I understand this is a delicate subject and I'm not saying you shouldn't believe rape claims, but like anything else, you have to go into it without biases and a critical mind.
Also, men's shelters have been reported to shut down due to lack of funding, and men also have a higher rate of suicide because they don't have the same resources as women.
Women have support groups, marches, days dedicated to them for all manner of things. Men sort of get left behind.
However, that doesn't mean there aren't female struggles or issues. We all have our shit, but in the modern day I think men have the shittier end of the stick.
I agree
Depends. Women are shamed and objectified and bullied when people find them attractive by both mrna nd women alike. She'll b labeled a slut by everyone if she's hot and men want her. Men yes we odjectfy them to and no one cares but they at least don't get the title of a slut or whore if they are attractive to people. Both have it hard in many ways yes. Bit men with never know how hard it is to be a women and be hated by women and men for doing things and having to be perfect. And women will never know how hard it is to be a man and have to be strong and reliable all the time and not be able to be weak
In fairness I've only ever been called a slut or who're by other women, ironically by slurs and whores who are probably self conscious about being sluts and shores lol.
Well no one is a slut so
No they are sluts by definition, it's up to them how they choose to live their lives but they shouldn't project their own insecurities to try to hurt others.
Slut is a term just 2 insult people who enjoy sex and express it. No one should b called one
Yes, for the simple reason that women are now the golden goose. If you have a woman in your company or a part of a project that project becomes better. Now don't get me wrong, I love women, in commercials, movies, music etc.. but woman have started to become preferred over men. I suppose you can call me out on this but that's a trend that I think I see happening.

I agree on the STEM thing. I was offered a STEM place at college with a grant and a half scholarship even though I didn't quite have the grades to qualify and didn't even apply for that.
I do not. I feel quite content with being a man.
People need to step outside their 4 bedroom American home and live for a month in Myanmar or Ethiopia... then you’ll know who really has it bad in 2018.
Okay, so women have it worse it Myanmar and Ethiopia. That’s fair to say. What about in countries like America? Why do you think it is that people would have to leave the country to see a place where women have it bad? Could it possibly be that because in modernized first world countries men actually do have a much more difficult time? 🤔
@CarpetDenim men have it pretty bad in 3rd world countries. I can't imagine being a child and forced to fight a war and often murder people.
Yeah, no one’s saying that isn’t tough, but women in 3rd world countries often aren’t even recognized as independent individuals, much less given equal rights/treatment, so I’d say that’s also pretty bad.
@CarpetDenim yeah but young boys are recognised only as cannon fodder.
@CarpetDenim My intention was to point out that (men and women) have it way worse in other places and the whole “first world gender issues” thing gets put into perspective.
But if we focus on gender issues in the first world, I don’t see how men have it any worse than they did in say 100 years ago in 1918 ... I mean back then if you were a man you were given a rifle and told to go fight a war or face prison. Struggling to find out where modern society puts up barriers for men in a way that simply turning back time would turn say average joe 9-5 into a superstar community leader and role model.
@CarpetDenim There is definitely competition from women now, especially for things that may have been given to that average joe 9-5 back in the past.
That’s not a barrier put up against men though. I don’t think men have been brought down in any meaningful way, just girls have come up.

Obviously, life is different for men and women. Comparing my misery to your misery is theoretically impossible to accomplish with any validity and, more importantly, what benefit comes from deciding that men face more difficulties than women (or vice versa?)
not really men face the same problems we do.
y'all face sexual harassment in the office
y'all face rape / sexual assault from the other gender (yes woman can fuckin rape men)
y'all are treated like lesser beings in eyes of certain groups (just like we were in the past)
Example for being treated like less, A drunk abusive mother wins custody over children over a father with a good job that doesn't drink, Now he is forced to pay child support or face jail time
I'll say it like this - both men and women have it worse in DIFFERENT aspects. The experience is not and never will be the same or even opposite - just different.
Men tend to be more successful at committing suicide more often.
@Trollfather I think men are more practical in that aspect thus why they are more successful. Women seem to either use the wrong means or often do it for attention. Like I think more women attempt suicide than men.
Yeah they may attempt more but men actually kill themselves - ultimately go through with it. I think women just realize it's not worth it and have second thoughts before going through.
@GnarCute A study done by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention in 2014 stated that suicide was the 10th leading cause of death in the U. S., imposing a cost of $51 billion to the US annually. Other additional facts showed by the study were:
1. The annual age-adjusted suicide rate is 13.26 per 100,000 individuals.
Men die by suicide 3.5x more often than women.
2. Women attempt suicide 2x more often than men.
3. On average, there are 121 suicides per day.
White males accounted for 7 of 10 suicides in 2015.
4. A firearm is used in almost 50% of all suicides.
5. The rate of suicide is highest in middle age—white men in particular.
Sigh, so depressing.
I wouldn't know how. I'm a man; I don't experience any kind of discrimination based on my gender.
Yes, gynocentric attitudes cause people to treat men’s issues as “unimportant”.
"She don't throw any t-shirt on and walk to a bar
She don't text her friends and say, I gotta get laid tonight
She don't say, it's okay, I never loved him anyway
She don't scroll through her phone just looking for a Band-Aid
It's different for girls when their hearts get broke
They can't tape it back together with a whiskey and Coke
They don't take someone home and act like it's nothing
They can't just switch it off every time they feel something
A guy gets drunk with his friends and he might hook up
Fast forward through the pain, pushing back when the tears come on
But it's different for girls
She don't sleep all day and leave the house a wreck
She don't have the luxury to let herself go
She won't call just to curse from a wall, she can push
When the going gets tough, yeah, the guys they can just act tough
It's different for girls when their hearts get broke
They can't tape it back together with a whiskey and Coke
They don't take someone home and act like it's nothing
They can't just switch it off every time they feel something
A guy gets drunk with his friends and he might hook up
Fast forward through the pain, pushing back when the tears come on
But it's different for girls
It's different for girls
Nobody said it was fair
When love disappears, they can't pretend it was never there
A guy gets drunk with his friends and he might hook up
Fast forward through the pain, pushing back when the tears come on
When the going gets tough, yeah, the guys they can just act tough
So tough
It's different for girls"

I agree so lets not make men discriminated like women were discriminated just a while ago. I like that women are protected now more than ever and it should be a standard. Women also had it bad when they didn't have a right to vote, were victims of domestic violence, prosecuted as witches and burned at the stake, abused in a lot of ways, so men haven't suffered much as women but men participated in wars and had their share too I guess. Still today there are places where little girls are sold to arranged marriages and also places where genital mutilation happens and we should keep that in mind. I know you referred to the western word and the first world countries butt I still wanted to mention all this, we need to protect both sexes and simply try to become better people day by day
I don't think so! Men make their own problems and then they blame society when they get butt fucked by the system.
All a guy really needs to do to live a happy drama free life is to, A) get a decent job, B) don't grope women at work, on the subway or in bars , C) live modestly, D) stay single, E) don't get random women pregnant, F) have sex only with prostitutes on a pay as you go basis, and G) love your dogs and cats.
This is what "walking the straight and narrow" actually looks like for guys living in the 21st century.
Men have it worse because the rule of thumb, "girls are weaker than men" so obviously we can't do 90% of what they can. Bs
Girls rape guys
Girls Sexually assault guys
Girls Sexually harass guys
Girls cheat more often than men.
Girls even when bad parents get custody of children most of the time
Girls get more social back up because they are female.
Girls can get men arrested for shit they didn't even do.
I wouldn't say we "have it worse" all in all. The problem is that the rising attention to "women's rights" is one sided and only serves to fix our societies gender problems when they affect women, so we're removing pitfalls of sexism while leaving the leg-ups, which leaves the other gender worse for wear since they lose their leg-up and the pitfalls stay.
In other words, having a movement based on equality only focus on one side of the problem wasn't the best idea.
I would say on the grand scale of things that men probably do have it harder, yeah. Most of what's against women does tend to be sexual situations, though at the same time they will also try to use that to their advantage.
But then, men are still the ones who run stuff so they shouldn't be letting so much bad happen to their own.
I don't think it can be quantified to a comparable scale
Men have issues
Women have issues
Some of the issues are the same others are different
In some aspects of life it is better to be a man others a woman
What gets to me though is that there are a lot of people out there who claim men don't have any real problems men don't don't experience sexism and men have all the advantages
I think both have their own very different hardships but women get much more support for their problems
Essentially my answer from the thread above.
Women will always be more sexualized, but as of late, men are becoming more and more attacked. So yes, today they have it worse. The last 200 years? No.
I'm not sure who had it worse over the last 200 years.
Why does it matter now what things were like 50 years ago?
@ericclayton things don't sound that great for men 50 years ago. I can't imagine having to work all day to support another person who stays at home all day.
I was really responding to Vaiiant, but yeah, I see your point.
I mean that's around the time domestic appliances became in use in most households. A stay at home wife basically has all her housework done in about 2 hours and the kids are at school until 9-3. All she has to do is make dinner for 5 or 6. That's about about 4 hours work per day.
1968, to be exact.
What I was referring to, is all the social change from a traditional to a progressive society has happened within the last 50 years or so.
@Catholicgirl22 you’re... I don’t even have words. While I think if a woman or man wants to be the stay at home mother, thas their choice, you’re 20 and I don’t think you understand what it’s like to be a stay at home mom. Actually, I’m kind of convinced you’re a man on a pink account.
While women were becoming more equal in society and the workplace in the 1970s (1968 ;)) I was referring to the 40s and 50s and decades before, when women literally weren’t allowed to work, and couldn’t vote. In the 70s/60s it was much better, but they still weren’t respected in businesses.
@ericclayton well a lot of that has largely freed men up. 99% of that social is largely down to advances in medicine and labor saving devices.
My point was that it isn't the 40's or 50's, what matters is how things are now.
Op's question, while I see the hypocrisy fro extreme feminists, I believe men and women both have their own struggles. The media and establishment only pays attention to female issues, however. That's the difference.
Women in 40s definitely worked (see ww2) en.m.wikipedia.org/.../File%3AWe_Can_Do_It!.jpg . Women worked all through the 50s too. Women have always worked since the industrial revolution and before, as nurses, teachers, maids, cooks, wet nurses etc. Housework and child rearing at one time was very hard work almost as hard as the manual labor jobs most men worked.
Buisness was usually reserved for a certain class of people but was opened up as more typists and Secretary's were needed. en.m.wikipedia.org/.../File%3ASweatshop-1890.jpg
Even today there's gender inequality in refuse collection, construction, haulage, sewage work, mechanics, lumberjack, plumbers yet no real push from feminists to even the gender scales with those industries or with gemale dominated industries.
You seem to be focused on middle class women in the past or the middle women In Jane Aust in novels
Cottage industry has been around forever.
Can't say for sure. I think the amount of mental illness in American society is getting over the top.
I agree
Fuck yes. We're just supposed to sit and suffer the wrath of what women are trying to do to this society, glorifying every action on them.
That's one of the reasons why I hate society.
I wouldn’t think so. Each gender has it bad in their own different ways.
Can you show me one instance where, from a legal, employment, or social standpoint, women have it worse then men? I'm only asking for one. Are you curious if I can show you volumes of instances where men get screwed under identical metrics? I can (and so can anyone else who isn't illiterate), and with hardly any effort.
@Alistayr completely agree 🙏🏻
White Males have it made and have done so for at least the last 5000 years. Males in general have had it made for the last 5000 years.. Modern times or not..
* Note... In general throughout the world.. Yes slave, war and poverty are exceptions.
I disagree. Society is still very patriarchal. This app is not representative of society as a whole.
Not necessarily worse, but women do have it easier. I voted other because it shouldn't really matter! I'm not going to speak for other men on here, but my thing has been to work harder and kick more ass when the pendulum swings against my favor.
It is virtually impossible to get any honest comparison as we can only live in our own skin. I have seen studies that support either premise.
Men face stiffer fines and longer jail sentences then women for most of the same crimes.
Yes
It is a bad time to live, and being a man wow that means it is harder for you to meet today's standards
Umm... no. There is definitely some truth in the ^ pictures and stuff you posted, but no, guys don't have it worse. It's far more nuanced than that.
No, both men and women have it hard, just different ways. We need to stop polarizing and start working together for a better future, together, not looking at issues by themselves.
You forgot about women getting free money for college just for being female.
Pretty accurate though.
Everyone will have some suffering in their life, regardless of their gender. The most fortunate are those with the mental and physical fortitude to get through it.
I think we all have it pretty good (at least in some part of the world), but there is always room for improvement. Dont think men nor women have it harder than the other gender, only in certain areas.
We consistently get the short end of the stick on gender equality.
Well yes the double standards are extremely obvious
"Do men have it worse than women in modern soceity?"
Only if they're weak.
Men have always had certain responsibilities and so have women. It is a matter of our make up and differences. Everything is what you make of it
Absolutely. Men have wasted all this time in pursue of womens' happiness. In the process, losing their dignity and power.
Was it worth it?
Yes they do. I think that should be obvious to everyone.
This problem is pretty easy to solve for both sexes... stop watching mass media
Each gender has it's own cross to bear. I don't believe one is better or worse than the other.
@glenns The first and most obvious one is that they have suffer ignorant men like you. I imagine there are few women that would want your company. And you, my dear sir, are one of the worst examples of ignorance anyone could have the displeasure of knowing. Honestly, I don't know how anyone could reach your age and be so blind to the world around them. You must be a real smug and selfish human, or is it that you came from a broken family? That may mitigate to a degree your half witted opinion, but only by a degree or so.
It would be bias to say yes being man. But we can only speak on what men go through
If you think life sucks to such an extreme why continue it then?
i do not think so.
In lots of ways. Yes. But it's not that bad.
Fuck no, women have it way worse
