basically it's the belief that people with different identities, cultures, beliefs and outlooks on the world will get along better and co-operate to built stronger nations than people who share the same identity, culture, beliefs and outlooks on the world.

I think it CAN be when done right, with the right balance of assimilation and respecting another’s culture. Australia is really multicultural, but we have a problem with immigrants coming in and settling into their own mini communities of exactly where they’ve come from. Many refuse to learn English, they continue behaviours and traditions that aren’t accepted here but completely the norm back home and it becomes a point of contention with their neighbours.
However people who move here, make an effort to fit in and respect the culture here while sharing their own go really well and there is a mutual respect and understanding for the differences - it educates everyone involved and improves tolerances for those that might be a little different and in that case I think diversity is fantastic. We celebrated eid al-fitr with a family on our street a few months ago, they come to our Christmas party 🤷🏻‍♀️ It’s fun and makes an inclusive and tight knit community

so yes, diversity is a great thing! but when cultures mix, things get messy. but also, ever see those job postings that say "DIVERSE STAFF!" well... those are kinda racist, not diverse, cuz theyre using diversity as a ploy, insinuating they hire based on how diverse you are... not you skill...

Absolutely.
And you know why?
One reason is resilience to genetic weapons.
If everyone is more or less the same, it is easy to design a genetically engineered biological weapon that works on specific genotypes. If almost everyone carries the same genotypes, then they can all be killed. But, if there is a lot of genetic diversity, such a weapon can only work on smaller groups within the population.

As to ideas, yes, diversity is critical.
America's ideals are modeled after New York City which was NOT founded by the English. New York was originally New Amsterdam and, for 400 years, has been the place where there has been a mix of ethnicities and religions. In didn't matter who you or what you were but it mattered what you did. The First Amendment exists because it is modeled after New York.

There may be times when diversity is an asset but there may also be times when diversity is not an asset. That concept has not been approved by the PC thought police.

Strength is strength.

Having a multitude of ideas can often be good, but forcing diversity isn't going to make a business or culture "stronger".

Just look at Marvel's comics or the mass immigration problems in some EU countries for examples.

The last few years have proved the opposite. Diversity should be fine as long as the small minority follows the rules of the super-majority of the country.

It can have two effects. The first and desired effect is that the people with the most extreme views will moderate down in a society like this and you'll be left with a sort of diversity which is placid if that makes sense. Therefore minimal confrontation.

The other effect which is not desired is that those with the extreme views won't back down and compromise on them at all and will be persecuted by the rest of the society for that and then end up lashing out and starting violet confrontations.

Hey, blockbuster is still there! Of course, diversity is a strength! It helps to stay humble and know that their are different people and cultures that are different than what we know. other cultures also have different ways of solving problems and ways of life that we can learn from and enjoy

I definitely agree. For starters it brings genetic diversity which makes the society stronger against things like plagues or other sickness. It also brings a lot of different cultures making things more colorful and interesting but this is not just limited to enhancing society but also innovation since they bring their own way of thinking and insights.

From a more selfish point of view I also like Asians so having more of them around me is awesome.

Depends. Diversity of of race/ethnicity is in my opinion, not a sign of strength, just signaling. But I think different experiences and thinking patterns when accumulated and amalgamated, can drastically improve situations. Otherwise you get a bag of pigs type situation.

There are obviously exceptions, but as long as the cultures can tolerate one another then it's fine.

Intellectual diversity is far more important than cultural though. Also, most countries are largely homogeneous are are facing consequences from mass immigration.

Depends. It certainly can be or it can be the very thing that divides people. The United Stats of America is known as a melting pot, however I have seen more often then not where people will settle into the country and stay divided in their own little communities, often not learning English nor respecting the other cultures.

I don't necessarily think so. There are obvious benefits to diversity but there also come drawbacks, doesn't matter which kind of diversity you go for. I don't think homogeneity is an intrinsic good or bad either.

Depends on the people I feel like if I were to run a country of my own people (white Europeans and European Hispanics) I would try to keep it at the minimum 85% homogeneous but take in people who I knew would be assets to society (doctors, engineers, farmers) that is if they proved they could assimilate to the way of life we live by which is very much how much of the Orient is run and they are home to some of the worlds most peaceful communities and countries

There is likely some truth to it depending on the scenario. I’d also make an argument that diversity could be harmful in certain scenarios.
