Do you think school dress codes are sexist? (Page 2)

Question

I've seen some articles on dress codes and how girls get sent home for being too distracting and that they're too strict. What are your thoughts? Are they sexist? Shouldn't exist? Biased towards women? Necessary? Should all schools have uniforms? Should students be allowed to wear whatever? Etc?

It was at my school. Shirt, tie, black pants, black shoes for the guys. "Smart" for the girls which seemed to also include jeans and trainers. Once got sent home because I came in a short sleeve shirt when it was hot.

I think they should have uniforms for both. There's no confusion then, no hurt feelings everyone wears the same regardless.

Actually my company doesn't allow shorts or short sleeve shirts but lets women wear skirts and sleeveless dresses.

YES. Women at my school aren’t allowed to wear shirt that show shoulders because if “draws attention, and could distract the boys” but men can wear muscle shirts that show off their MUSCLES and shoulders? Like, his muscles and shoulders are distracting me.

There are some dress codes that piss us off more, for example “no shorts above the knee.” It may not be sexist but it’s freaking demeaning.

It can be. When I was in high school females that were super skinny and had smaller frames who wore short shorts didn’t get in trouble but if you had a butt or hips for the same size shorts you got in trouble. It was super annoying

I guess I don't relate because I don't see women as sexual objects... I see them as human yes sometimes I get distracted and am looking but I can't help it ya know... Honestly the school should let women wear what they want in my opinion
