Anybody else agree that black people need to stop victimizing themselves?

I notice all the time that black people in particular love to complain about things and blame stuff on race. Someone doesn’t give them what they want? It’s because they are racist towards black people. White people talk politics about lazy immigrants or whatever and black people say “that’s funny considering y’all were so lazy you used slaves.” like come on 1.6% had slaves. and those people were their ancestors. i don’t know it just bothers me, because they do just as well as white people if they work hard. more of a rant. and i’m not racist, i’m just tired of black racist people. white people i will come for you sometimes. Asians and mexicans, etc i won’t forget y’all too.

Systematic racism is still a very prevalent thing. The idea that a black person who works just as hard as a white person will do just as well is just a myth for the vast majority. A Black kid born in Harlem has to go to a horribly rated public school with very limited connection or opportunities, compared to a white kid at a private school. On average, poorer communities with worse schools have a larger black population, so they can't lift themselves out of it because they weren't given the same chances. Black people can do as well as white people, but normally their parents have to work two jobs, the students have to work nights, to afford tuition. It's really bad and very common.

Sure, but that's the problem, there is no way to get themselves out of it because it's a repeating cycle. Sure, occasionally people can get enough jobs to lift themselves out of it but there is physically not enough jobs for everyone to work enough jobs to get out of those situations. This is why entry requirements are lowered for people from certain areas, to try and give those people a chance because otherwise they have no way of getting out of it.

Personally, I think if someone is going to talk about groups then some responses are justified. If someone is going to say "black people" need to stop X. Saying "white people" need to stop Y is a fair response.

They brought up lazy immigrants, then hear back lazy white people. That's fair in my opinion. Percentage doesn't matter. They made it about groups as a whole and associating things with that group.

Victimization is bad for everyone. Men do it, women do it and people of every color. I'm not about to say that black people who do it are particularly worse than any other type of person doing it. Just have a spine no matter who you are *shrugs*

you had an example prevalent in your mind that existed. Only makes sense to use. When I think of people victimizing themselves I immediately think of people who want Socialism/Democratic Socialism and look at Capitalism as inherently bad. Almost invariably they view themselves as a victim usually by way of poverty and demonize rich people. Which is another prime example so many do. I remember playing sports growing up. Less athletic people would play victim by not being naturally inclined to do it, when others were. It's like. Dude. Work Hard. Get better. Shut up. lol

Happens for sure. But in their defense they may have grown up with that as a reality. I've had many a time someone did, said or just acted in a certain way towards me just because I'm black. I've also heard on more than one occasion from people like that saying "you're black, but you don't act black" and it was said with some kind of sigh of relief. Like they could relax around me, when before they were uptight because to them they were dealing with a black person who "acted black" I guess which they certainly don't like.

I actually have more reason to use the race card than a lot of black people lol. I just don't because it's stupid to me. Ignorant people are ignorant and that won't change with me.

Black people still are victims of an incredible amount of systemic racism. They aren't doing it to themselves.

And, you ARE a racist if you think all a black person needs to do is work hard. You just don't acknowledge the subtle prejudices you have.

Infact, this whole rant is essentially racist.

Maybe take some time to know some black people, and develop a better understanding of what they deal with daily. Maybe follow some black specific twitterers, Facebook pages, etc.

Yes I’ve heard of this and seen this happen way too much unfortunately. A girl who got her nails done at the nail salon in my town was complaining that they charged her more than the previous customer because she’s black. But actually her nails were more expensive because she got embellishments and the other girl got plain nails. But she called them racist and tried to leave without paying.

They called the cops on her but she still got away with paying half.

In my high school history class, it was ME, another white guy, two black guys, and a Mexican in one group. We would make racist jokes all the time, and no one cared. Even using racial slurs. How times have changed.
Some black people are chill, others not so much.

The best one was when the black guy, actually he was half black half Mexican, was always talking to this old teacher's aid in class. So one time I said, "Geeze, I know black guys like white girls, but damn."
OMG, the other black guy in our group was cracking up.

The only time people, including the Mexican in my group, got offended was when this anti-racism lady was giving a speech in class, and said she has 9 siblings, and I asked her if she's Mexican, 'cuz she has a lot of kids. She called me prejudiced. It was fucking hilarious, 'cuz it was an anti-racism lady. That was like a Sacha Baron Cohen moment right there. But once class got out, half the class, including a couple Mexicans were laughing, even saying it's true.

Oh man, I'd get expelled if I did that shit today.

Also, I find that people joke about their own race and like to hear jokes about their race more than any other. People who complain about racism only care about people being racist to people of other races.
