The comic book industry decimated itself after a bunch of SJWs took over and recast all the old characters as females, minorities, or non-straight. Sales are WAY down.
No one has a problem with introducing NEW characters who are female and/or minorities, etc., but simply reassigning existing characters is pure political correctness, and people are sick of it and are less and less willing to spend their money on it.
No one ever had a problem with Sigourney Weaver in Alien, Linda Hamilton in Terminator, Mila Jovovich in anything she's done, etc. But they were new and well-written characters - they weren't women cast as a character that has been male for decades.
But if Disney wants to lose billions of dollars in value to learn this lesson the hard way, that's up to their shareholders. Some heads may roll at the next shareholders meeting, though.

Typically wokeness is refers to an ideology that seeks to replace the malevolent prejudices with benevolent prejudices.
Now the starwars font makes think it referring to solo a starwars story. Now i am aware there is character that seem designed to reflect a number minority identities. Move like theses and promoting these features seem less like try to make interesting characters that fix the story and more like pandering. But there were more problems with solo. Firstly it was coming off the back of last jedi and it was very upsetting to many hardcore star wars fan's with badly written characters and poor story logic. Second solo was the first part of a 3 part store with out any context for thst and no character development.
if people want to make a "woke" game or movie, go right ahead. But do not shove wokeness into every single bloody thing and do not ruin already established characters or games. Go make something new and unique to push your wokeness.

When you start to push politics in entertainment, people tend to stay away from it. People don't go to entertainment for its politics.
Certainly when we're talking about media. But thats because they replace a good story with a blunt messages. We've always had messages in media but when companies go woke they change the message from nudge nudge wink wink to beating the viewer over the head with a bat that says 'insert cause here' on it.
If xmen was created woke you would have prof x being a black man saying 'I dream of a time where people are not judged on their character by their mutations, but the content of their character'.The evidence is all there. They went woke with the Ghostbusters remake, and it went right down the toilet. I don't think they made any profit. Disney has gone woke with Star Wars, and now they have a ghost town called Galaxy's Edge. Few people go there. Disney is overall losing money with the Star Wars franchise. A 4 billion dollar investment, and they're driving it right over a cliff.
Well whether you agree with it or not, the results kind of speak for themselves a lot of the time, I agree with it but don't.
As it kind of depends on the company or business. Large companies can obviously take hits economically and can afford to make stupid choices like going "woke" but smaller companies and businesses, can and will go broke and shut down when doing stuff like that.
whether you are a large or small company alienating paying customers is never a smart choice unless your product is directed towards a very specific base and even then not the best option.Pepsi, Nike and Gillette are doing pretty well. If I owned a multinational, multi-billion dollar firm I'd want my marketing team to do exactly what those companies are doing.
If conservatives really want this woke advertising trend to go away, all they need to do is not talk about it. But every new ad creates controversy and mainstream consumers don't want to be associated with loonies who burn sneakers because of a commercial.I think the get woke go broke meme is about political correctness, not about being "awake".
I know plenty of game companies (hello Blizzard-Activision) who desecrated their franchise only to appeal to "politically correct" crowd of people, who don't give a flying fuck about their games.
Plenty of "awake" people are successful. But it has nothing to do with political correctness. Not at all. The people who object are 1) in the minority 2) have below-average wealth.
They can piss and moan and threaten to boycott but corporations don''t care because they don't have much money. Most of the money is in the liberal coastal cities. A good example is the recent threat to boycott Disney. Disney didn't give a shit."woke" entertainment sacrifices quality for an unpopular political agenda - it's stupid beyond all reason for any company to embrace it, knowing full well that the majority of the consumer base does not like it.
I voted A, since it's usually true. You cannot be politically incorrect in Hollywood, and cannot be politically incorrect in other venues. I got my YouTube video account terminated for being woke.
Being woke means you understand the struggle between labor and usury.
The reality of your the demographic you belong too
And that Jesus Christ is the only means of salvation.
You live a Christian lifestyle, which is a simple lifestyleI agree, because politics is a polarizing topic and it severely fragments your audience.
Keep your politics private if you’re in the entertainment business if u want to maximize your money. Not at all. Companies like Nike and Gillette are doing perfectly fine. It might apply to the film industry, but otherwise the saying is a fantasy.
I think that in any business alienating approximately half of your potential customer base is usually unwise. On the other hand, in niche markets it might help.
Depends on how you do it, if you're just appealing to the "woke" community then it can certainly work, but if you appeal to them while ignoring the input of your core audience then you're gonna have a bad time.
I don’t agree with this, I feel like it all depends on how they represent it. I could be wrong though, a lot of people get unreasonably mad about that kind of stuff especially when “accuracy to the source material” becomes a problem.
Just look at the film, TV, and Main Stream Media, with customers turning away when they are pushing 'woke' scripts, story-lines and opinions instead of news.
Sometimes yes, sometimes no.
I think it's more often they go broke, but not always. There is support for that nonsense of course.I wasn't aware that the entertainment industry was going "politically correct"- must have missed the memo.
Other-- what are you talking about and what the hell is that supposed to mean.
The entertainment industry should focus on their music, movies, games etc. Not on politics, we use these things to get away from politics.
