Are soldiers heroes or killers ( USA )?

Me and my friend who’s Amish. They don’t and are not allowed to serve it’s part of who they are. Came to a conclusion that USA soldiers are killers not hero’s ( not all of them the ones who only killed ) due to the fact that Amish believe in defending there soil if they are being attacked. So US going overseas and bombing people is not ideal. We need to defend our country inside not outside. I know some of you or at least 98% of are going to disagree. And also say we need to take care of it before it gets inside. Well why don’t we take care of it when it comes instead of killing people overseas and civilians dying. Are we really defending our country or are we just trying to dig up the gold and oils that are overseas?

Most military people never see combat, especially in this day and age. We see ourselves as fighting for America, so in our eyes we're doing good, whereas from a pulled back perspective the wars that have gone on could have been avoided without bloodshed. When we do happen to see combat though, it's kill or be killed so I suppose we're either killers or dead, and in my opinion if it's us or them animalistic survival instincts take over and if someone gets to go home to their families it has to be us.

Depends. If they’ve killed someone, then that soldier is indeed a killer. That’s objective fact. But we need to be mindful of the fact that killing =/= murder, and not all soldiers have or will kill.

I agree it does. But not all of them have. But those that do are indeed murderers, and guilty of war crimes.

War is not about heroes.
It is about carcasses.
Soldiers are worse than murderers: they agree to possibly slaughter others when they are told to do so by 'leaders' with their own motivations.
It's perfectly noble to protect my own house when it's attacked;
but to ignore what makes me different from an animal - only because my bosses don't get along with other bosses- is nothing but shameful.

What enemy? We are our own enemies. So many racists exists between our states. People killing each other left and right. Robberies and criminals why don’t we take care of that before we go overseas?

We cannot help in solving these problems because they are eternal. Being a very large community, we must accept these people with us with their different ideas that urge them to commit crimes as they are present in all countries and here the police function appears.
