+1 yI think the only real route to peace is with a 2-state solution, but it's still going to be a long, hard road, pocked with rocket craters. I've read that many Israelis would be willing to give up some land if it got them peace, but they fear that Hamas and co. would just use it as a base to launch more attacks- and they're probably right. Many Palestinians, too, would love to start living their lives for their own sake, and not focus their entire existence on destroying Israel, but they fear that backing down would make the Israeli government run roughshod over them- and they're probably right, too.
I am SO glad I don't live there.20 Reply

Palestine is the promis Land. The land God decided to bestow onto Abraham as he and his felf slavery.
It's also the birthplace of Jesus Christ and his ministry.
And even hold a holy meaning to musilms (although I'm not entirely sure what)
This conflict is religious and will l not end in a stalemate.
Me coming from a country neighbor Palestine and Israel being our sworn enemy I'm forced (quite litterally ) to take Palestine's side however this endless war has done nothing but harm to the region and while genocide sounds completely inhuman it's the only viable option right now. One side needs to eradicate the other if there's ever a chance for peace.00 Reply
Anonymous(30-35)+1 yI think it all started with the creation of Israel as a country. I think I am right in thinking that, at the time, Palestinians didn't want a state created for them. However, I think land should have been allocated at the time in case they changed their minds.
I think Israel is going too far in annexing lands occupied by Palestinians. It is just "empire building". It does not need that land.26 Reply- +1 y
Palestine existed before Israel was created, but after world war 2, none of the other countries wanted anyone who was Jewish to settle, they refused to accept them...
Palestinian's welcomed the Jewish people into their country to give them a home, they gave them the same rites as their own citizens and made them citizens, and even gave them the chance to have a land of their own... over time Jewish, or what they became to be known, Israeli people had got positions in the government, then ultimately the country was renamed to Israel, the people forced out and persecuted treated as less than human and in the same way that hitler and the nazi's did to the jewish people of ww2
the whole act of what Israel is doing and what they have done is sickening...

@juicyjessie
Nah, both wanted a country granted by the UK. There were a bunch of proposals in the 1930s, none of which made it. Then in 1947 there was the UN proposal where both would get a country. Then the Jews accepted it, Palestinians rejected it because - if I recall correctly - they disagreed about the allocation, because they thought Jews would get a disproportionate amount.
Also, the Arabs and Palestinians wanted to take the partition of the area to the International Court of Justice, as they thought a general assembly of nations was not suitable to partition a country. But this was denied through a resolution.
At that point, apparently the Jews could choose between an American truce or declare independence, and they went for the latter. If I recall, this was because it was declared that there needs to be a country there divided for both, but clearly the proposals kept failing so they went for it. - +1 y
Mind you, technically the area was governed by the Brits as a result of the UK beating the Ottomans. That went on until 1947

+1 yI’m fine with both existing. But that would only be productive for peace if a Palestinian state would be stable and wants peace. Given the severe fracture within Palestinian leadership, both states co-existing would eventually just lead to more conflict and war. That’s because Hamas openly wants to eliminate Israel as opposed to making a peace deal.
So when there still is very likely armed conflict in Gaza and two parties struggling for power in the West Bank, I cannot imagine that if a peace deal was reached, it’d actually be stable nor peaceful over the long term.
Basically, both can exist. But the existence of both in peace is currently impossible.23 Reply- +1 y
Note of course that a substantial part of Israel is also opposed to a Palestinian state due to a myriad of reasons. Most problematic part of that population is mainly the die hard Jews who think it’s all theirs and it ought to be annexed.
So with the current Bibi government and his orthodox mates, such a peace also ain’t happening. - +1 y
And they are running out of space for housing

Yeah no, only a small part of the population even wants to live in the West Bank.
374 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. while both should exist i do not condone nor support Israel's atrocities against Palestinian people or anyone who are trying to provide aid...
it is sickening that those who are still scarred from the atrocities and inhuman acts of Hitler and his twisted faschists Nazi forces, that they would believe it is ok to do similar if not the same acts of terror against innocent people211 Reply- +1 y
Yeah no what Israel does is not remotely comparable to the Nazis. That is a ridiculous idiotic comparison.
Case in point, the last 10 years of violence between Israel and Palestinians: 3500 Palestinians killed. Almost 3000 in a 50 day war in those 10 years. So that’s an average of 350 per year, less than 1 per day.
Death count of Nazis in 5 years against Jews: 6 million. That is about 1.2 million per year, and 3287 per day.
- +1 y
And mind you, according to B’tselem (pro-Palestinian organization) about 50% of those were not involved in fighting.
That leads to approximately 0.5 Palestinian daily deaths not part of hosilities, which is about 6500 times less than Nazis - +1 y
@tartaarsaus you miss the point... it is the atrocities the persecution, the hatred... Israel and the Nazi's like i said both
Nazi's persecuted the Jews, hated of them butchered them, imprisoned, conducted inhumaine experiments and torture... executed the lives of innocent men, women and children, created propaganda to create hate, describing the Jews as dirty subhuman scum...
Israel persecute the Palestinian people, they (for the most part) hate them, they've imprisoned them, tortured them, massacred innocent lives of the men, women and children, create propaganda to create hate, describing the Palestinian people as dirty, subhuman scum
so you see the comparison is pretty is far from idiotic nor is it ridiculous and if you cannot see the comparison then you miss the point or refuse to see the facts - +1 y
@SjE78
Oh yeah, when you absolutely ignore the scale at which things are happening, the legal situation, the exact events and generally distort the situation completely, then I guess you can come to a conclusion that they are similar.
Fact of the matter is that Palestinians with a visa can work in Israel, they can study in Israel, Arabs can live in Israel. The rate at which they are killed is obviously far, far, far lower. There is a legal system that has punished Israelis for violence on quite a few occasions.
But yeah, I suppose if you categorize e. g. imprisoning and eliminating all rights of Jews as “imprisoning” and then conclude that Israel also jails Palesinians for throwing stones, you can equate them. Except that is obviously not the same. - +1 y
@tartaarsaus tbh it's the actual atrocities that i compare, numbers if left uncontested would be on par if not more than the other... but the fact that the reports have often been distorted it can be said that the number may even be higher
- +1 y
@SjE78
But the actual atrocities do not compare?
Nazis banned essential right for Jews based on Jews being Jews, right? Israel grants the same rights to its Arab population (20% of the country). Palestinians can also work and study in Israel. So then it is easily observable that Israel still grants rights to Palestinians and Arabs, whereas the Nazis did not. I don’t see where these are the same.
And then there are deaths. Yeah, you won’t see the Israelis lining up Palestinians in front of a hole they dug themselves and then executing them with machine guns, let alone with gas chambers.
Also, no the numbers would not be the same. Even when the world let Israel do its thing in the first few weeks of any armed conflict, the numbers do not even remotely compare. Like I said, literally 6500 times higher for Nazis than Israel.
And notice I actually used a pro-Palestinian source, B’tselem. Israel argues that a larger percentage of deaths were people taking part in hostilities to Israel, but that does not suddenly increase the real death count tenfold. By far most deaths occur in a place where the Palestinians control the media and the numbers, not Israel. - +1 y
@tartaarsaus the act and devastation of what they caused compares, the violence of each the hatred compares.. maybe the death toll doesn't but the actual number is not the comparison the fact that those acts, and the intent of those acts and the goal of the Israeli government to eradicate the Palestinians, does resemble the Nazis, the ruthlessness of war crimes against civilians and persecuting a particular race... is actually no different to what was committed during ww2
- +1 y
@SjE78
Well, clearly if the death count except in war is relatively low (a few hundred in 10 years time), this already suggests that there is no intention for eradication. The rules of engagement do not even remotely allow for eradication, hence we have seen Israeli soldiers imprisoned for killing Palestinians. Also, clearly they are not killed automatically when they flee or question anything. The death count would be infinitely higher if that were the case.
The idea that Israel wants to eradicate them simply does not line up with the evidence that exists. The idea that they are committed to wiping out a particular “race” is simply incorrect, and borne out of misinformation.
Also, “ruthlessness of war crimes against civilians”? You are aware that Israel in 2014 literally dropped flyers and phoned places before they would drop a bomb at places? We can argue all day that there were excessive deaths among civilians and probably plenty that were absolutey unjustified in terms of military goals. But the idea that they just go rogue and try to kill as many palestinians, whether armed or civilians, is simply just wrong. - +1 y
@tartaarsaus the only ones who have actually been arrested from what i have seen are those who refused to kill, where as those who have killed innocent people have been rewarded and hailed heroes

+1 yI reject the premise that conflicts between two foreign nations has anything at all to do with me or anyone who lives in neither Israel or Palestine. In terms of actual United States policy, I'm against supplying foreign aid to either, but I'm for free trade with both.
00 Reply"I can't really understand the conflict between them but I think both countries should exist "
The conflict is that Palestinians are murderous antisemitic muslim terrorists who openly promote Jewish genocide, and have no interest in a two-state solution that they have been violently opposing for decades.
They want all Israelis to be murdered, that's the Palestinian solution to the conflict.
Any questions?00 Reply- 6.2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
+1 yI feel no love for Israel as a Zionist organization.
I also don't mind much about Palestinians.
Both run their aggressive organised efforts (Mossad, and PLO) and so it's perhaps better to give the UK the mandate again and clean up.
Which then will force the U. S. of A. to look for a new capital; but hey: no gains without losses.01 Reply- +1 y
