Well he clearly lied because he literally told congress that he lied. He literally ADMITED TO LYING TO THE PRESIDENT AND THE American PEOPLE. Now I don't think masks are as effective as they are claimed to be (some studies show this to be the case (masks are not meant to be worn long term, cloth masks can trap moisture which actually makes them breeding grounds for bacteria and disease (especially in hot weather like we have) etc.

That said he admited to lying while being wrong with pretty much all of his predictions as well as praising New York for the handling of covid despite the fact that they put covid patience into nursing homes i. e. the most vulnerable population, and over a third of all covid deaths came from new york, predominantly from these homes, and Governor Cuomo ignored shut down orders and social distiancing orders at first and then allowed rioting (which spread the disease) while punishing any one who went to church while also releasing criminals from prison for fear of covid spreading there while simultaneously threatening a jewish family for I believe having a wedding, with imprisonment.

Dr. Fauci is a piece of shit and why any one would buy into his bullshit despite him openly lying, praising failure, and being wrong on all accounts is beyond me.

There's so many health issues that have been discussed with covering infection prevention & control of this pandemic - and it's ever changing as research is ongoing. May one read up on it and take the concern as a matter of their own, and take precaution - that's the individual's choice. But misleading the general public like this, puts me at an uneasy position. It would only be irresponsible if they know for sure that it has a particular effect, instead of the knowledge being more limited. You need to decide your policy based on your best knowledge at the time, which may inherently be a bit wonky. There could be studies that prove a particular thing works, but there could be flaws with the methodology. So you may approve it since there is a pressing situation. But then new information may come to light leading to that advice being eliminated. That could work the other way around as well.

It is actually necessary when you make decisions based on sciences to not indefinitely stick to them because people already comply with them. That’s because these sciences tend to become more clear with time. And clearly, at the time of the outbreak, very little was known about covid.

As for what harm it could end up being? It could hypothetically be possible that people respond to masks as being justification of not socially distancing properly. Again, that’s an uncertainty and one that could be detrimental to dealing woth the pandemic

Keep in mind even healthcare officials like nurses were negatively affected by his lie because the only time they’re wearing N95 masks is primarily at work.
