Orangutans are the largest tree-dwellers in the world. They like to eat fruits like durian, lychee nuts, and jackfruit. The males are usually solitary. The palm oil industry is the biggest threat to its species.

Gibbons lack higher cognitive abilities. They do have a throat sac used to emit loud sounds. They're usually monogamous.

Gorillas also live in a social hierarchy in which the dominant male (silverback) protects the group. Chest-beating is a practice used to intimidate and ward off threats (competing males, humans). Gorillas are less curious than chimps but more calm. Females give birth every 4-6 years.

Chimpanzees are our closest living relatives (share 98% of DNA). They have similar social hierarchies and use tools. They're the most social of apes and participate in activities like grooming one another, hunting for meat (males), and mourning.
