Does George Floyd deserve all of the praise and adulation he has recieved?

He lived the life of a violent, drug-addicted street thug, yet in his death, he has been turned into a hero. This is pure insanity. He was a street criminal who sold crack to teens, robbed pregnant women at gunpoint, and was a deadbeat dad to most, if not all of his children. (His 20-something son said he hadn't heard from Floyd in decades). Honestly, I think the world is a better and safer place because George Floyd is no longer part of it. Was his manner of death unfortunate? Somewhat, perhaps. But the fact remains that he was a net detractor from society, and the world is better without him. And yes, the riots and looting are bad, but they happened because weak liberal mayors weren't willing to put down these riots with extreme force as soon as they started. You could make a convincing argument that the riots did more damage than the dead thug Floyd ever did, but that's not what I'm asking. I'm asking if the world is better off without him than with him, not if the net impact of his highly publicized overdose while in custody was positive or negative.

I have seen to many junkies like this wild out and get arrested. Sad this junkie died and caused so much grief.
All this happened because of fentanyl, but everyone wants to talk about "racism" we have an actual public health crisis with all these fucking junkies man. But no one will ever rally against the Sackler family or big pharma companies, no one will rally for our government to eradicate drug dealers.

I won't go into what happened since the truth is not out yet and allegations are still being made, but people are total fucking idiots. Innocents businesses being lit on fire and torn down, rewriting history, fighting, rioting. Over a criminal. How on Earth did these geniuses tie the incident with racism in the first place? You're missing an important point: he didn't die because he was a criminal or because he was hurting or killing other people. He died simply because he was black.
And no, I'm NOT saying that he was perfect and that he was a saint. I'm just saying that he died for a stupid and cruel reason.

absolutely not. He was living a terrible life, that hurt a lot of people. I wish he would have found the inspiration to change. Sad to see anyone die while living their worst life. But he was no hero, and he certainly was no martyr or beacon for justice.

I don't think anybody is trying to make him a hero. He wasn't a saint by any means. The problem is the cop murdered him on video blatantly and callously for everybody to see. He did it in such a way like he thought he could get away with it. It made him look very arrogant in a cruel way.

He has a criminal history with at least one of them being violent. Body cam footage from one of the officers were leaked and it doesn’t seem like his death was racially motivated or even intentional.

All the cities of the USA need to have a statue of him and a statue of Floyd needs to be in Washington DC right with the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Momument. He needs to represent Minnesota, Texas and North Carolina in Statuary Hall in the Capital. Don't think this cannot happen with as sick and fucked up as this country has got.
