That's a really good post and I'm happy that is written by a woman.
Because it's normally the man's folt. And untill recently men used to hit em and it was ok. Have you seen the diffrence if a man starts hitting a woman it's not even close to fair
because everyone cares about women. nobody cares about men.
Because instinctually people don't care about men's safety and well being.
Men are likely to be punished coz system is going to work against him. If he go complain. How do I know, guess...
Very true. I guess it’s thought that the man is generally the stronger of the two. But yes men are abused as well. Physical and emotionally.
People are talking about it more and more nowadays, give it a rest.
Violence out of anger is still violence out of anger, and it is not a gender-specific thing.
I think it's because it's far less likely for a guy to be abused by a partner
Because the world or Society views women's problems as needing more attention than men's problems, men are expected to be on their own or accept responsibility for their lives more than women are
Well men do more damage. It is statistically favorable on one side. Plus man up you woosy... and all of societal norms brought to you by BuynLarge
Oh bullshit have you seen a woman go out you and she fights they pull out all the stops they’ll pole weapons they’ll sneak attack the poison they’ll destroy your property women are far more vengeful creatures.
There’s a reason they say hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.
Because men are told to "suck it up and be a man, don't whine about it"
Its still the same evil no matter who it happens to. I condemn it totally
The courts would only rule against him. There is always the assumption that "he had it coming.''
What's the point in talking if there's no one to listen to us and when they give us the middle finger all the time?
Because society doesn't care about men and considers them disposable
That’s sad
Been there and got verbally and psychically abused. I’m really happy I’m out of that hell and it’s harder for me to trust.
Because it's not as common, I guess.
It is extremely common - it’s just they don’t open up. I knew of many men growing up who were beaten by their wives. I know of many more people who are verbally and emotionally abused.
I mean you don't hear about it as often as you do with women.
Yes that is true. I think that the reason for not hearing about it is probably due to the shame factor as people have mentioned before. I wonder how we can put an end to that so we can prevent more cases of people suffering in silence.
A lot of it has to do with toxic masculinity. Some men don't want to seem weak by reporting it
It happen to me a lot and was one of the many reasons why I left her
For the same reason people don't talk about the other problems that men face. Men are simply expendable.
Because guys never feel bad for other guys
Because with men it is less common.
No, it is not less common.
Mit is far less reported. Men are more likely to suffer in silence which makes it harder for vulnerable men to escape the cycle of abuse.
Less reported, yes, because police and courts won't take it seriously, among other things. Less common, no.
Anonymous surveys have shown its about the same.
@Hogwheels Yes, they certainly have. https://web.csulb.edu/~mfiebert/assault.htm
@msc545 can't speak for other countries, but in mine woman are the main domestic violence victims.
Men don't often report it, but neither do many women.
@ThidIsMyOpinion, can you provide anything that isn't anecdotal evidence for that statement? I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just genuinely interested.
@ThisIsMyOpinion What country is that?
@Hogwheels if you can read portuguese absolutely. apav.pt/apav_v3/index.php/pt/estatisticas-apav
@msc545 Portugal.
@ThisIsMyOpinion What is your basis for believing that women are the main victims of DV? Who or what tells you that?
@msc545 stats. You can say that men don't come forward so often so the stats are not correct. But often neither do women.
I can't speak for other countries but in mine men are the main abusers and we are far from a 3rd world country.
In 2019 Portugal saw a record in women deaths at the hands of their husbands within the first 3 months of the year. Many of them had previously tried to get help from law enforcement who did nothing due to lack of evidences. The number of women killed at the hands of their husbands is much higher than the other way around.
@ThisIsMyOpinion I see. In the US, the number of women is exaggerated, and the number of men is artificially low in order to placate the feminists. We have really horrible women here.
Ok let me change my words. They are less likely to report these things to the police. So it is less common as known by police. I guess men are more ashamed if it happend to them and admit it?
Not exactly. Men don't report it to the police for a variety of reasons. One reason is because the police won't do anything and don't take it seriously. Another overlooked but very important reason is the police often than interview the woman who the man accuses and the woman inevitably says that the man abused her in the police believe the woman and wind up arresting the man. Many men have been arrested for reporting domestic violence and incidents where they were actually the victim. Police and courts are very sympathetic to women and not sympathetic to men at all.
@msc545 I know you have a very strong feminist agenda there.
But just because there are a lot of feminists in the streets and online, doesn't mean inside doors things don't happen.
Is very hard to say who actually do does that.
@ThisIsMyOpinion No, it's not difficult to figure out at all.
@msc545 can you tell me the accurate numbers of domestic violence?
@ThisIsMyOpinion Yes, it's about even according to very large surveys conducted by Dr. Fieber at Cal State Long Beach.
https://web.csulb.edu/~mfiebert/assault.htm
@msc545 that I believe.
Cause its more commonly reported amongst women
You know, bc a plague like feminism exists
It happens to men but a lot more than women.
Cause women seem to be the “weaker sex”
I'm scared now. Maybe I won't ask out that woman.
How common is it compared to the other way around?
57% women, 43% men.. its very common www.theguardian.com/.../men-victims-domestic-violence
@worldscolide That would suggest it's about a third more common amongst women than amongst men. That's a pretty significant difference.
7% is a significant difference? not so much. and honestly its irrelevant. You do understand that most men dont come forward right? You do understand that because of the Duluth model, the way that the police are trained to deal with domestic violence, that even if it was the man that was the victim, he still gets arrested. Saying what you said basically says that because there is a 7% difference men simply do not matter. typical of someone who is a feminist.
@worldscolide Slow down there chief. No one said I'm a feminist, and if they did they'd be very wrong. Also, it's not a 7% difference. For every 43 men who are victims of domestic violence there are 57 women who are, according to the figures you just provided. 57/43 = 1.33, so 33% more women than men are victims of domestic violence. This doesn't mean it isn't a problem for men, but it would seem to suggest it's a bigger problem for women.
because feminism is female supremacy
Because men are expected to suck it up.
I don't know you should talk about it
The courts are sexist towards men
Well you right violence is violence
I will never understand why
good point
Agreed 👍
Man up
So punch them back. Got it!
It's what you do best evil man
You are the ones who said "man up". Fighting back is maning up
Your better leaving that situation instead of turning into bitch number 2. Men and women need to take responsibility of choosing shity partners
everytime a girl is cheated on ill remember to tell her that :) ''woman up and choose a better partner''
You have a consistent issue of picking no good women. I have no sympathy for women or men who do that. At all. You avoid all reasonable people and instead go for the players. Says a lot about your flawed judgement and upbringing.
Either you say men up or you say leave. You can't say both.
Aren't you picking on men when you say "man up"?
No man up is asking someone to have a backbone
And people with a backbone, fight back right?
