You know what... people tend to think that whatever your race is defines who you are in life. I refuse to accept that just because I'm female and I like to have this kind of sex and my skin id this color and the shape of my face and what my eyes look like define me.

Disgusted? No. Racism is due to a result of the way we think. We deal with thousands if not millions of stimuli everyday. This amount of information cannot be sorted individually, our brains donāt have enough processing power so we group things together for ease of recall and to categorize information. When it comes to human behavior this can understandably result in racism āI didnāt rob and murder someone, that person did. Why? What notable characteristics are there about that person so I can avoid being robbed and killed?ā Etc for these reasons it requires us to act in an unnatural way and treat people as individuals. I get that our brains do sort information and generalizations that way. I heard somewhere that after like 50 people you start "typing" them. Anyway, statistics aren't an identity, the conclusions and assumptions drawn from them are. Like saying black people are responsible for 52% of murders while being 13% of the population is fact, also that it's typically the same people committing crimes over and over again. Bring back the death penalty, that number will drop. No conclusion to draw, and I fail to see any conclusions about the black community there, just how to remove that 52% of murders, which is highly concentrated. It would remove the bad apples from every cart that are caught knifing, shooting, or strangling.
Denying black people opportunities from those numbers because "all black people commit crime" would be assigning an identity and a racist assumption, it is very few people committing a massive amount of crime.

Yes, I've seen that here before too. Asian guys that won't date anyone because of porn stereotypes. Black women who want to be white because they want to be "Normal." White women who are arrogant and think 80% of all men on earth prefer her to other races. Black guys who think they are superior. There's just endless racial stereotypes that hold people back from enjoying their lives as individuals.
Well the internet is partially the blame. There's so much negativity and divisiveness online that I swear people of different races are actually less accepting of each other now than they were in the late 90's, early 2000's. There's more racial tension now than there was back then in my opinion. The internet is a very effective platform for people to spread Stereotypes, hate, divisiveness and a victim mentality to the youth.
I'd have to agree with you there. Like the KKK was still around in my area, but no one took them seriously, kind of like the elk lodge, but an elk lodge no one wants to be friends with except other members of their lodge.
Then as internet became faster, suddenly a lot of white kids around me were starting to become skins, black kids with scholarships were acting ghetto, causing a few to get arrested over stupid shit and lose those scholarships, it was on a microcosm level what you're describing, racial tension started that wasn't there before.
I mean, I was a middle man, so I only cared about money, the change it made to me was simply selling to them at different times and places. I never thought of it from that perspective though, that more communication would lead to greater tribalism rather than less. Yes, it's amazing how the internet's been used to inflame tensions and organize various groups from terrorists to rioters and every other type of extremist. The internet is a tool for angry people to connect and spread their anger. The internet is full of racism towards every race to the point where it actually causes people who used to be open-minded to revert to tribalism. It's not always good to be exposed to people's nasty thoughts online and it does have an influence. Going online and being racially degraded, stereotyped or witnessing it can turn a sensitive person into a hateful person no matter what color you are.
I believe that we are all the same and feel that no one and no race has the right to declare themselves superior over another human. I do however witness a lot of those stereotypes fitting by certain races. But just because a lot of blacks commit crime doesn't mean they all do and it doesn't mean other races commit no crimes. a lot of white people are under the illusion of being superior but that doesn't mean if you claim white pride your a racist. People need to be organized by groups of common sense and stupidity. If they feel the need to live with labels they are stupid in that group and of they want to mind their own business and treat others equally they are part of the common sense group.

I live in the expat community of the Milanese area, meaning that myself, my fiancée and many of my neighbors and associates aren't "full" Italians. The thing that frustrates me so much is not the racism and prejudices from "full" Italians, but the racism and prejudices between us! It's insane. The Koreans hate the Thais, the Senegaleses hate the Moroccans, the French hate the Germans, and so on. We should stick together, not jump at each other's throat!

Even if your belief is that everyone who wants to come to the US should be able to (which I disagree with), the legal immigration process should be changed. The flood of people right now is going to simply result in more and more people being dead before they ever even arrive. Fix the humanitarian crisis, close the border, vote on what to do with the current illegal immigrants and the future of reform on that system. Politicians focus on 4 year or 8 year solutions because they don't have to worry about any length of time greater than an election cycle. For the legal immigrants, and people who will live here, those arbitrary decisions for votes will carry life-long consequences.

I am an Asian person and I consider myself moderately intelligent. I somewhat appreciate that there is a positive stereotype associated with Asians, but I also don't in the meantime. Actually, positive stereotypes can be harmful as well. To illustrate, for the stereotype that Asians are good at math, it is evident that this label does not apply to every single Asian person. There are of course Asians that are not good at math, and the expectation would likely make them feel bad. The same logic can be generalized to positive stereotypes regarding other races, but I am not discussing those in detail because I don't think I should voice for other races as an ethnic and cultural outsider.
Well, yeah, my brother in law, and two sister in laws both suck at math and academics, they're Asian, and everyone they knew expected them to simply soar straight through college... when they were struggling through high school.
Lots of wasted money trying to push the youngest one through school, like trying to force a duck through a keyhole, just messy as hell and pointless. Lazy too, I tried giving her a job and had to fire her the same day. I set that bar pretty low too. I think most people would set that bar high on expectations on her work ethic and intelligence, then need to be prepared for disappointment.

being fat makes you more likely to have a whole host of different health issues generally speaking. we know that. it's news to nobody that dealt with mortality or general health statistics. currently you can not trust most of science on covid, cause it's massively being influenced by financial interest driven political and media agendas on a global scale in an historically unprecidented way. also from a social science standpoint: generating mortality statistics that allow valid and representative claims about what people died to and why take several years to make. so anyone who already claims to know is full of shit. though we do observe an excess mortality globally that coincides (not correlates) with covid. it stands to argue that covid is actually less of a prevalent reason for that excess mortality than the actual political measures that are globally taken to "fight" covid. also the definition of "death" was never as unprecise and full of shit than with covid. normally in mortality data, we have exact numbers for causal relationships between death and certain diseases. that was intentionally not done in the beginning of covid with the excuse of "extreme danger of that new disease" which is not scientifically a valid argument (which i won't get further into). so to this day the instruments with wich we would be able to determine whether or not covid caused access mortality have been taken away from us. so it's not our fault that we can't produce results.

Culture is real, races aren't. Cultures form of separations such as time, geography, appearance, etc. Some cultures isolate off appearance, but since it is an internal quality culture can be a choice for who and what you subscribe to. That is why there is always variance even within cultures.

Absolutely, How you are raised impacts choices, but you nonetheless make choices. Also, why different generations were part of different cultures because they are separated by time. You can be non African American and still subscribe to Black culture or other cultures. Some cultures only welcome off appearance, but there will always be exceptions.

I'd support "culture history month" have a day or two for each culture during that month, brief primer on their history, and how they have changed or remained the same into the present. I believe that some individuals ar superior to others. And further I would find it Extremely unlikely that all ethnicities would have the exact same percentage of exceptional people. I know believing all people are equal will end up having beneficial results but I doubt its true right now.

Interesting, the view on black people I've heard most from conservatives is reactionary from the police shootings, about 52% of murder being committed by 13% of the population, and proportionately more unarmed whites dying at the hands of police. The idea from people I talk to is shifting from neutral towards blacks to suspicion bordering on hostile. Looking at major cities right now, I find it tough to blame them.

If you must make an educated guess... do it and move on... If you have no clue... anything is better than nothing! I'd say the solution is through the SBA loans and grants. Especially making people more aware of them. No one can argue that there are areas that have poverty, crime, and the chances of escaping it are low. Most people I've known who got out of the bricks... got out of the bricks, they never looked back to that community.
If there was an incentive to train, hire, and include those people in the modern work-force, rather than simply leaving the bricks behind if you're lucky enough to get out of poverty, it would make a huge difference. Also more a, I guess landing pad, to transition from section 8 and government assistance rather than oh, you got a job, END.

Yes and no, there are provisions for getting SBA grants and loans related to the wealth and employment of the area you're building your business in. Also competitive contracting when bidding with the city and state. Obviously it depends on the specific case. Plus, you get in the whole issue of eye-balling data (such as crime rates) and base identities based on that, so it does require a nuanced discussion and evidence.
Case in point, the number of generations it takes for someone in a low-income household to reach median income in the USA is about 5 generations.
If you as a large subset of the population have been structurally discriminated against in the form of segregation, youāre gonna have widespread poverty. Then imposing those 5 generations, it would take a very long time for those to reach the median income level. And that time hasnāt simply materialized, which does mean that history has imposed a structural disadvantage for that group in the population.
So is it wrong to say that structural problems in society have held back African-Americans in segregation and any potential for recovery afterwards? Yes. Does that likely require help from the government to improve socio-economic mobility? Yes. The main way to improve socio-economic mobility is government intervention anyway.
So, rebuilding African Americans as a community and culture would have nothing to do with policies meant to divide families, new policies coming down that promote that more rather than less, and that an equal amount of black children are born as are aborted? All based on the idea of protecting one class.

Additionally, whether or not a specific policy-measure has favourable outcomes is not particularly relevant for whether a) some problems are experienced by a very large share of a given subset of the population and b) whether government policy in itself should be in place

It is folly to say that when one perseveres enough, they will always reach the top simply because there are structural barriers.
For example. If you are super talented as a kid and your parents are super poor, the income of parents is likely going to gear towards keeping the family alive and in a house as opposed to maximising spending on allowing that kid to thrive academically.
Does improving funding so that the kid gets better education then somehow mean that the kid was actually a helpless idiot without that funding and could have never improved their income? No. Itās not about that kid or their ethnic group in particular but about structural problems that relate to some income class and such
Or another one. Say you are a poor household. You likely spend a large share of your income on sustaining your own life at the low level you are in. That does mean it would be difficult to allocate money towards investments, healthcare funding and such to improve your income. That becomes a structural barrier to improving your income level. Removing that barrier doesnāt mean that those people in that situation are helpless idiots, just that the system works against people of such a background.

Absolutely. I think a lot of that comes from Woke culture. Some of the people who follow that ideology say that white people are inherently racist, privileged, and oppressors of all other races automatically at birth. Thatās obviously racism. Itās judging by skin color. There is the notion that being white is bad. Itās all but openly said. How many images have you seen of white people apologizing for their privilege? There is also the notion that only whites can be racist.
The underlying message is that whites are evil. Every other races however is good.
So we teach these things and teach how all the races have been victimized by whites. Doesnāt matter if such wrong doing occurred 50, 150, or 200 years ago. When you tell people theyāre victims when they really arenāt and use whites as the scapegoat instead of making people take accountability for their lives and actions, much of which has to do with their current situations, then we are sliding backwards towards prejudice.

I think the US can act arrogantly if we choose. It simply isn't the wisest course of action most of the time. As far as assigning roles to cultures and races, every country does that. The danger we're facing in the US is that it is becoming policy, along with an overarching theme that poverty itself is an exclusion and something you have no control over. Solution, make the rich poor, and the poor not have to work anymore.
Simply give those "underprivileged" races/classes money, instead of telling them to do what every person who came to America before, or will has had to do. Suck it up, and work hard. It isn't a right to be rich, or even to be happy. It's your right to pursue that happiness.

You have to look for it, but every community has its trailer park, some are larger than others, but instead of concentrating a very large number of white people into one city, one housing project, more often it's a diffusion across many cities of poor white people. You have to remember that in whole numbers there are many more white people.

Part of what scares me about the modern political situation is that there's this huge disconnect from reality that a lot of people seem to have, where they just infinitely trust authority and somehow believe that all of the bad shit that happened everywhere else their ideas were implemented is never going to happen in America. I don't understand what basis there could possibly be to think that way.
