Of course, they should not lose respect. Especially from people who never volunteered or served. What opinion military folks hold of each other, is a different matter
The ones who called my fellow vet a pussy, I'd like to see them tell that to my face. No one calls my fellow veterans a pussy no matter their job while they served
A war can happen at any time. Just because someone wasn't in combat doesn't mean that they were purposely trying to avoid it. They all know the risks when they sign up.
No it is what it is they’re doing their job whatever their ask to do. There’s not always a war going on. Besides nobody really wants to kill anyway for fun. Nobody is happy about taking a life
Why are you upset about his checks? He earned that rank. So what? Do you get upset about people who earn a PhD and put Dr. In front of their names, even if they don't practice medicine?
@daisyjones - strong sense of inferiority much? And mmm... Mrs & Ms typically goes in front of women old enough to be mothers. Miss is for girls. May help sweetie if you knew what you're blubbering about.
@daisyjones - thank you for proving you're more than dimwitted. The guy with Major on his cheque earned that title. Just has how someone with a PhD degree earns the title of Dr. Mothers don't "earn" the title mother because it's their choice to be.
@daisyjones - well if you want to add dishwasher to your name go ahead. In the mean time instead of coming across as stupid and ignorant shut up about this guy with the major title as you'd never be able to achieve it yourself
I have a master's degree, but I sure as fuck wouldn't add that title to anything I'm involved in. But if you're some insecure dumb-ass like yourself, then go ahead and list that you make fries at Burger King.

Its not a respect issue. Whether they love or hate, it makes no difference to your friend. Military is only a job, like any other. Albeit one for the not so intelligent and likes to be ordered around.

Anyone who serves in the military makes a sacrifice for this country. Everyone who serves is deserving of our respect. They all work to keep us safe.
The fact that he signed up means he isn't a pussy, people who would say that and did not sign up, are in fact the pussies.
It is a huge risk to sign up, there may not be any combat but it could change on a moments notice.

Thank you for your service.
It was my honor
No they should not loose the respect of anyone, they volunteered to serve that by and of itself is worthy of respect.
They made themselves available for combat/theatre of Ops, destiny dictated they didn't serve in that role, so yes same respect please,,,
I would imagine that anyone who has experienced combat would never disrespect those who hadn't,,,

No they shouldn't. They served our country. All military deserve respect.

He shouldn't lose or gain respect. He, like many others, just needed a job.
I know a guy who had "Major" printed before his name on his checks. He's been out of the military forever. I hate people like that.
Why are you upset about his checks? He earned that rank. So what? Do you get upset about people who earn a PhD and put Dr. In front of their names, even if they don't practice medicine?
@Goforit1010
Yes I do. I don't give a fuck WHAT you earned; if you're so insecure that you need to broadcast your achievements, then I have no use for you.
Should a mother list "mother" on her checks? Didn't she earn that title?
No, she shouldn't. Because no one gives a fuck. All they care is that your checks don't bounce.
Maybe that Major should have it tattooed on his forehead!
Why are you so angry about it though? It seems pretty "meh" to me.

@ilikefrogsalot
Angry about what?
@CookiesAndCream2
Miss? Mrs? What the fuck are you talking about?
@daisyjones - thank you for proving you're more than dimwitted. The guy with Major on his cheque earned that title. Just has how someone with a PhD degree earns the title of Dr. Mothers don't "earn" the title mother because it's their choice to be.
@CookiesAndCream2
Sure, and a dishwasher earned that title, too, idiot.

They don't do it for respect, I suspect. That he worked with communications doesn't mean he ate donuts for 4 years.
They served. Just because there wasn't a conflict going one at the time doesn't mean squat.
No. The percentage of troops that are actually combat oriented is tiny.
All people should be given respect it has nothing to do with doing military service. If anything we shouldn't glorify any war acts except defensive.
It was not up to him whether he served in war or not.
"They also serve who only stand and wait." - John Milton
That's kind of stupid; what did they think, he should start a war?
That's like saying those that enlisted in The National Guard during the draft for Vietnam are pussies

Military, law enforcement, paramedics, fire-fighters... if we weren't around you would have to deal with shit on your own.
Karma, bitch.
No. Anytime a soldier is on duty his or her life is at risk especially in foreign territory.
100% true, most especially abroad.
