There was a boy name Christian being rumored to be a homosexual and it spread like wildfire. They all gave him looks. I was even center of the rumor one time but it died down once the Christian rumors arose. Someone even said he'd seen his p **is in a bathroom stall. I overheard it and nearly brought my breakfast back up that day. Not because the thought of it was disgusting, but because people would say things like that about a person in public knowing they can't go back from it. Our guidance counselors at the time interrupted our English session to discuss just that the following afternoon. They said that we were far too young to discuss relationships and that relationships past kissing belonged out of school. They also explained that despite that, children no matter sex, age, or race were entitled to a good education.
If you can't teach one religion because it was written down 2000 years ago, why should you be allowed to teach the 21st century religion of self as god? Teach them all or none of them. I wasn't taught sexuality/relationships at school because back then it was the parents' responsibility to do that.
Of course back then a car owners manual told you how to clean the valves, not to not drink the battery acid...
What should we not teach about WWII either cause people don't like Nazis?
You can teach kids about sexuality without trying to make them "turn gay". Just like you can teach about all the different countries without encouraging kids to leave the USA. And teach about Hitler without encouraging kids to be Nazis.
Wtf is public education still doing these days that has parents so worried, and why are parents still letting public education teach their children morals and values for them?
I truly think that we need to keep the sexuality out of the schools except for the actual biology and reproductive organs and their functions. Why exactly does anyone, anywhere, least of all a child need to know what mommy, mommy, daddy and Steve prefer to do in the bedroom. Someone needs to find the people responsible for it and end it. I am pretty sure that if you had kids you aren't going to discuss any sexual encounters you may have so why would I think it's acceptable in school either lol.
I wish they wouldn't bother with sex ed at all to be frank. I wish they'd allocate more focus to academics. My god I have young people in my crew at work that can't do simple math, that can't spell, that have no idea who Ghandi was, that can't tell you what a compass does, that can't name one country in Africa, that can't name an important book written by anybody and on and on. A young lady I trained a few years said she would never go to Japan, but that she wanted to go to Tokyo instead. True story. And this was a girl that graduated with honors. I mean... sigh. I think we should demand better academic education before we worry so much about sex education. Most kids know more about sex than their teachers by the time their 13 anyway.
So what we wouldn't teach Psychology now? It's called "deviant sex". No homosexuality shouldn't be taught. Neither should heterosexuality. Yes reproduction. Sex Ed should be taught because that's nature. That's how we propagate our species. Sorry if the LBGTQXYZ (Or how many other letters they've added now don't like it)
History is trying to repeat itself. Sixty years ago before the civil rights act, people are trying to ban education about interracial marriage and relationships for different excuses, especially those that are religious. Now, we have the same people as they were as they are now wanting to ban LGBTQ relationships from education, but under a different political party as a disguise. The only way we can end history to repeat itself is to change it, and that's why we should take down confederate flags and monuments in public places and set them in a museum to teach people fair history without letting it influence the public.
If homosexuality is mentioned, in should be in the context that homosexuality is an unnatural act, socially corrosive and condemned by all the world's major religions. In both the Old and New Testaments of the Bible, homosexual acts are described as 'detestable'. Muslims throw homosexuals off buildings, based on what was written in the Quran. The purpose of the current 'teaching' in schools is to groom children into becoming homosexuals.
@WowwGirl I expected downvotes, because libtards have a problem with reality. They appear to think that if they put their fingers in the ears, scream and wish hard enough that they can change reality to conform with what they wish reality was. They are delusional and as dumb as a box of rocks.
I disagree with this but I don’t feel like arguing about it. You and I disagree about LGBTQ issues, especially the trans part (though tbh except for a friend of a friend I don’t even know any trans or non-binary people irl so I don’t feel the same visceral attachment to that as I do to the bisexual issue).
It's a huge mistake to mandate the teaching of non-heterosexual lifestyles to children. It is caustic to anykind of respect that parents have for teachers. It would be more inclusive, and respectful to both parents and educators if there was a mandated parent or guardian course on non-heterosexual awareness. It should be the responsibility of the parents to teach this information to their kids.
sex education that would also include safe sex should be functional. People also have gay sex and knowledge on how to be safe works better then avoiding the topic. Having access to avaliable choices is better then learning from other peers most of the time.
It's terrible and will end lives. Knowing that there are other people like you when you're queer is very helpful and honestly life saving. By not teaching it, kids won't learn and will feel weird and like they're different, which could end in suicide.
Separation of church and state. State can and should encourage a judgement free zone. Churches should have no say in the education of one's child. A parent should pull their child out of a state run school and place them in a church school if they want them to continue to be judgy and unchristian like.
I don't feel like that's something that needs to be taught. Regular sex ed is fine. Do I think that people should he judged, fined, fired, kicked out because of their sexuality? Nope. That's right up there on my list with racial discrimination. I think people should stop judging people based on trivial things and start using a persons character. 🤷🏾♀️
“Teaching” about homosexuality sounds more like indoctrination. I have had enough. Reading, writing, history, math and science is what needs to be taught the rest is bullshit. How did people learn about it before school? Oh, the village, like it’s supposed to be.
It's ridiculous! So, according to this law being homosexual is wrong but hating people based on their race, ethnicity or sexual orientation is right. Homosexuality exists and I'm sure there are kids who are homosexual in Missouri public schools. They are teaching that hate is right and love is wrong. They're making a big mistake and they're living in the past. It's shameful and sad.
I think this sort of exposes the inherent problem with America and Americans. There is a severe disconnect between what they claim to stand for and what they actually stand for, we call that phenomena "hypocrisy" generally but I digress.
For a country based on "personal freedom" where its literally enshrined in your constitution you still have a disturbing habit of limiting peoples actual freedoms.
I'm all for it. School is for learning academics, not social agendas. Math, Reading, Science, History (correct history, not altered history to please people), finances, etc. are what school is meant for. School is meant to teach skills to make someone a better citizen. Social experiments, religion, etc. are NOT meant to be taught in a public school. If LGBT (or whatever the current acronym is) want their crap taught in school, form a private school.
@WowwGirl If an LGBT private school is discrimination, then so is a Christian private school. If we go by that logic and if LGBT is taught in school, then so should Christianity or any other religion. Christian beliefs are forced out of public schools. The LGBT people do not, nor should they, have greater or lesser rights than anyone else.
I don't think there should be any central management in education. We should simply privatize it and parents can choose to send their kids to whatever school they want, and I'm sure there would be as many teaching methods to choose from as there are Dorito flavors.
yes i disagree. all this will do is teach these kids that its shameful to be gay and that there is something wrong with them. schools oughtta provide concrete actual data and the latest up to date advice as to how to handle it. that it is perfectly ok to be gay and is normal. These kids deserve to be acknowledged and respected.

Well I see some downvotes in your future puppy truth or not.

My downvote record is 36 probably one of the highest in history here🤷
I've seen 30s only a few times in downvotes

As a legal matter, I feel that banning the teaching of homosexuality in public schools would be a First Amemdment violation

What's religion have to do with sex ed?
Any sane parent should not want his child indoctrinated in anyway by political hacks with an agenda.
@MudRucker it's the bible belt religion has everything to do with it
Again. No political agenda should be part of sex ed.
Keep the politics and religion out of education.
@MudRucker I agree keep the sexual aspects at home to discuss
I don't feel like that's something that needs to be taught. Regular sex ed is fine. Do I think that people should he judged, fined, fired, kicked out because of their sexuality? Nope. I have no idea honestly anything about gay schools
