I don't think that school is the appropriate place to be teaching political, social, or sexual values, beliefs, or practices. School is for teaching academic subjects and they need to focus much more on the primary mission because most of them are doing a failing job at that.

That would be a preferable way of sex education. The reality is children and parents avoid the topic like the plague. So children are more likely to learn from a peer sourced "hub" of some kind and learn not safe things or have unrealistic expectations.
Schools are a neutral place where safe education has available resources.

Let's start with your premise. Schools teach language, writing, reading, history mathematics, science, social studies, biology/health.
School exists to train up the youth to be productive citizens and for them to enter the work force and to have skills.
HOMOSEXUALITY? This isn't a life skill, this isn't some core tenant of education. It would probably fall under the guise of "health". So when 6th/7th graders are introduced in a general way to the way reproduction works. What the body parts are... how babies are made and such I suppose it may be briefly mentioned... that some mate with their own gender and do not follow the regular male/female... produce child kid of relationship.
I'm not following your general premise that schools were ever supposed to TEACH HOMOSEXUALITY in the first place. Other than in health class, when reproduction is being taught, it briefly being mentioned that there are other types of relationships, sometimes men/men and women/women happen as well as men/woman... why would a school ever even talk about homosexuality? How do my kids compete against the Chinese and Indians and Europeans for skilled jobs and careers? What talents, skills and trades have my kids gotten proficient in or skilled in to enter the workforce and earn a living and support themselves and contribute to society and pay taxes?

I'd say your entire premise is off. Banning it? What is the school teaching about it to begin with? What school subject is it being talked about? Other than mentioning it in health class... what more are you claiming should be done via education with regards to homosexuality?
I'd have to know what is being taught and what is being "banned" from being taught. I doubt anyone is trying to ban health class from mentioning some families are guy/guy and girl/girl and their are other lifestyles. I'd guess for anyone to bring up "banning" it then their must be a much more detailed, lengthy curriculum the school is wanting to push with this.
Go back to the beginning. What does homosexuality have to do with education and school. Outside of being mentioned in health class to middle schoolers?

(3) The parent’s right to remove the student from any part of the district's or school's instruction relating to human sexuality [instruction] or sexually transmitted diseases.

Section 8 mentions that the teaching of gender identity or sexual orientation are subject to Section 5 meaning that: 1) The school district needs to let the student know that they are going to teach this stuff. 2) But the parent's can say "Fuck that!" and not subject their kid to learning about this stuff from the school.
This is not a big deal. When I was a kid, they didn't teach this stuff and it wasn't very relevant anyway since it's something you learn about as you get older simply by living in the world. That said, understanding WHY things like gender dysphoria or homosexuality occur goes a long way to removing hate, so it would be good to teach this stuff in an objective manner that doesn't advocate for or against, but simply explains 1) this stuff exists and 2) here's why we believe this happens.
It's that last part why some people are going to get uptight. The root causes of LGBTQ+ issues are during human gestation. So, in a sense, they're like a birth defect. That removes the concept of sin because those persons are "born that way" and did not choose to be that way. Various religious groups may consider these things sinful, so the objective explanation is in contrast with their religious teachings.
So, bottom line, what the law is doing is letting religious parents be able to remove their kids from learning about those aspects of human sexuality at school.
Frankly, what a smart ass teacher could do is discuss these things in animals since animal sexuality is not "human sexuality" per the bill. . . . . But it's all moot anyway because the bill effectively died in 2020 and not likely to be taken up again.
I don't think kids should be taught sexuality period honestly. Thats for the parents to determine what if anything they learn in that area. I also don't like schools pushing the LGBT agenda on every one as its entirely fabricated and politically driven (gays are not being hunted, the first gay pride parade was in 1970, 51 years ago. So far their has been no issues (hell even their argument of the Daniel Shepard killing falls apart as he met his killers at a gay bar and one of them was bisexual and both admitted they did it to steal his money and drugs. It had nothing to do with homosexuality).
That said, I do not believe its a topic that should be avoided either, it exists and we should treat it like everything else, i. e. we don't ignore it and we don't force feed it to people either and treat them like they are gods gift to the world, we treat it like we treat heterosexuality in schools i. e. teachers teach geography, history and math without mentioning it because its not pertinent.
No one should be fired at least in public schools for their sexuality which would be a violation of federal law. Private schools are private and as such can do what they want (though I don't support discrimination (which is why I'm against the LGBT movement as its effectively discrimination against non LGBT people).
Back years ago I would not see gay materials at school as a bad thing. Times have changed.
Now being gay or trans is a fad at my daughter's school. She has one class that everyone is non-binary. And some want to physically change or use blockers to stop puberty. There are some talking about how they want to remove their body parts, and if the parent objects, they could be held for child abuse for not being open to their child's choice.
The gay and trans thing is out of control. It really needs to be something discussed at home. It doesn't need to be glorified at school and become a trend.
These people don't deserve to be hurt or feel threatened, but at the same time they need to be discreet and not force their lifestyles on others and expect everyone to support their lifestyle.
Now that I have heard kids are being encouraged to attend Pride, and support for things they see like half naked people dancing in kinky clothing as normal. And this is what has many non gay and trans people and parents upset.
This is backlash against the radical LGBTQ agenda.
I doubt if a majority LGBT people even support that radical agenda, which has gone way beyond seeking tolerance and equal rights. The radical agenda is being pushed by very wealthy social engineers who are not motivated by a regard for commoners. Their motivation is population control and profit.
The "radical" agenda is about indoctrinating impressionable children, encouraging them to question their gender, teaching them about butt fucking and gay sex, and promoting alt-sexuality, gender fluidity and cross dressing. So-called LGBTQ history is being included in school curriculum. I say, leave that for elective college courses.
I am particularly opposed to the radical "trans-sexual" agenda. I strongly oppose allowing men to compete in women's athletics or to use women's only facilities like showers, locker rooms and communal restrooms. I do not care if that hurts the feelings of a man who thinks he is a woman. Too bad. They are endangering women and tearing down the progress that women have made under Title IX.
I understand the back lash and, under the circumstances, I support the Missouri law.
By the way, I have no problem at all with LGB people. I even know and am friends with a couple of people who genuinely suffer from gender dysphoria and decided, as adults, to transition. So I"m not phobic. I just believe in raising healthy children.

Case in point from the 60's. A young boy was born in a nice home, he had another brother; his parents after his birth had wanted a girl, and decided to treat him like a girl, and made him conform to all things girls do. Even his name was a girls name. By the time he became an adult, and a few of the family secrets started coming out; one was that he was born a boy, not a girl. He made the news and several talk shows asking him about his life as a girl; even though he was a boy. He said, he felt something was different, but he was not sure.
He started living as a man after finding out his birth gender; and eventually, because of the way his parents had brought him up, he had a major mental conflict, and killed himself. He never decided one day that he would be a girl. His parents decided for him. No child can decided one day, they will be the opposite gender; majority of cases, the parents or another authority has planted that seed, and encouraged it, causing a mental conflict. For those who prefer the same sex; it is purely a choice they made because of the way they were treated younger by their own sex, or the opposite..
The key is that most people who choose these life styles after they have left home; if they are choosing them while at home, who is coercing them?
In the past we have seen violence as a method for dis-promoting homosexuality, but now we see it as a method of promoting it. Homosexuality is not a healthy lifestyle choice and should not be promoted. They used the excuse that violence in the past justifies promoting it now (whilst using violence now). Homosexuality is a mental illness, even if you disagree, every homosexual has comorbids that render the debate mute. According to Romans 1 Homosexuality is the result of a choice, though in most cases homosexuality is not a direct choice. Children should be warned about the bad effects of homosexuality on the person and understand it is not healthy behavior. It is truly sad people choose to hurt themselves in homosexuality, promiscuity, drugs, crime, and all other forms of sin. Christ has provided a way out of homosexuality, fornication, and all punishable offences. It takes repentance of all offenses and accept Jesus payment on the cross for them.

Kids obviously need to learn about the world they’ll be living in, which increasingly includes homosexuality and transgenderism. These topics should be part of any school curriculum. I think where schools get into trouble with the general public is when they celebrate and promote these ideas rather than educate in a neutral fashion. You’re obviously going to have children from religious families in your classrooms and you have to handle the subject carefully to avoid controversy and having the legislature step in and pander to those voters with regulation.
Not only is this topic contraversial, it's also highly emotional. Non heterosexual lifestyles are still considered a taboo subject in many households. Telling parents that educators are going to be teaching this subject matter irregardless of what the parents say is not going endure parents to teachers. It's just going to cause a greater rift. The parents need to be exposed to this information first. It's a sign of respect. Let them teach their children this powder keg. Once you start assuming that educaters should be teaching morality to students then where does it end?
Children should be taught what homosexuality is and given facts such as why it exists and perhaps look at problems they face and discrimination laws. What they shouldn't do is promote it as an alternative. This ban is like the infamous ban on teaching evolution because it contradicts genesis. This is what confuses the rest of us about you people. Well, depending on the students' age, I believe it is right to notify parents/guardians if explicit content will be taught such as sexual education. Now, when it comes to banning teachings on homosexuality, as well as other sexual orientations, I do not think it is a good idea. I think there is a proper way that this can be undertaken, so as to provide growing children with a diverse viewpoint when it comes to sexuality. So, when they witness or see homosexuality, bisexuality, etc., they will not feel like strangers to what they are witnessing. I feel like they can be more educated, tolerant, and caring towards many forms of sexual orientation with the proper education.
It is a strange topic. I don't know what they would teach about homosexuality other than some people are gay. Would they teach about tolerance? It is just hard to put my arms around. Most folks here. . . and most folks here are extremely homophobic, claim they would be teaching gayness. Because they still are insane enough to think a person can be convinced they are gay.

Why? Because people who don't understand things tend to be judgmental. Those who are judgmentel for no reason are a lost cause however, we need to educate these kids so that the LGBTQ kids don't get harassed or bullied for something that is normal.
It also helps kids who are questioning their sexualty to better understand their feelings. I don't think there needs to be a whole ass class about it, but a lecture would be beneficial, and I don't think that is something that kids would forget once it's been learned.
If I ever have an LGBTQ kid I would love to have a peace of mind knowing that he or she will not get bullied for being different. that would be in a perfect world, of course.

I believe that the school system should maintain strict neutrality about sexuality. I also believe that the school system should promote kindness and consideration to all. I would just as soon not waste my class's time discussing sexuality, hetoro or homo, because at the age level I taught, virtually no child was even remotely interested in it. At the grade level I taught, I would support a ban on teaching sexuality of ANY kind, unless the child asks (and frankly, in all my 22 years of teaching.. NONE of them ever did)

I agree with getting the ideological propeganda out of the classrooms, and i also agree with the concept of getting parental consent for these themes. But for me its not far enough, i want a free market of training to get targeted training instead of all this generic repeat what the book says brainwashing. Its expensive, ineffective and creates generations of people who are mediocre rather than an expert in their field. Only to then develop that expertise after school if they are capable people, meanwhile people just experimenting with stuff and learning outside of the school system in their spare time are years ahead of anyone who just learned at school.
I do belelieve it is a massive blow to the LGBTQ community especially for kids that can legitimately experience feelings of homosexuality but at the same time I do believe the concept of homosexuality and the availability for kids to access information about homosexuality on the internet I think it's silly personally. Why not just not teach sex ed in school all together? I mean when I was in school they did a terrible job of teaching it anyway. The only thing they taught us was the miracle of child birth video and that was it. If you are going to teach anything don't have ass it. Especially where we live in a society where most state funding goes to stupid shit towards even out good publics schools for stupid shit. Like 2 women's or men's basket balls teams, all these other clubs. etc. Especially now these days you can learn about sex online or through books on your own time. You don't need a teacher to tell you that you should use protection during sex.

I don't have anything against gays. I was just talking about sex education in general. You have to also consider that when these schools teach about sex. They are using a form before gay marriage was accepted in the U. S. Also they mostly just teach about protection against stds which most stds are causes from men and women with the exception of AIDS where its higher in gay men.
Yeah I agree if schools are going to teach it they might as well teach about all the types of relationships out there. It's not the 70s and earlier anymore.

Have counseling and therapists available on campus for students who want to privately talk about this stuff if needed. But teaching sexuality in general should be left to the parents.
