In California, it’s not that hard. There’s a black market, you’d know if you know anything about automatics.
It was a fucking dumb law that stopped nothing honestly.
You could always buy ARs and AKs in California, you just have to put a weird grip on it that, incidentally, blocks positive access to the standard safety on ARs.
If you don't like guns or want those rifles gone the current incarnation of the Assault weapon ban was never going to be a law that did it.
The people writing it understood those particular guns so poorly it was almost immediately circumvented by making ingenious modifications.

It's really amazing how many average citizens believe civilians can buy automatic weapons.

Yeah, you're right, I know nothing about automatic weapons.
Black market? Really... how much will a full auto AK47 run these days?
That much I can’t tell you, I don’t have access to the black market nor do I know where to find it in California.
All I know is that you should probably ask a celebrity.
They are very cost prohibitive in addition to being illegal (think 20k and up)
Not buy, but it IS surprisingly easy to modify some semi-autos to auto...
Can't fix stupid.
What’s your thoughts?
You are right assault weapons should be regulated
Definitely stricter background checks should be enforced.
He’s 100% right.
He made some valid points, still they were irrelevant to the question and he sort of got a nerve stricken.
Like I said, all valid points. But he mentioned everything has nothing to do with firearms that are available to civilians.
The black market does exists and gun bans do in fact work to some degree. He’s wrong about that.
Nope.
