+1 yI did get arrested once when police came to my place of work to serve a arrest warrant.
Surprised me, the officer arresting me said he could check my prints to confirm but he'd let the jail do it, he didn't want to get his kit out of his trunk.
He took me to the county jail, where I sat for hours to be booked... upon booking they ran my prints and then said they didn't match the warrant.
Someone had been arrested before and booked, and used my name. They told me I was free to go, but no one would give me a ride back to work... I had to walk 12 miles or so back to get my truck from my work parking lot.
Then I had to fight for years to get my prints out of the system as I had no convictions they should not be allowed to keep them. They claim they are, but the only way I'd know for sure if if I commit a crime and leave them at the scene.
No apologizes no nothing, just told that police have the right to do that, even hold us for a time with no charges, forget what it was...24 or 48 hours, as I never got booked... arrested at 4pm and let go 10 pm, to start my walk back home.
I'm not a police fan by any means but I certainly don't agree with defund the police, an officer just made a lazy mistake based on an tip that said this is where they could find me and they did their job. He should of just ran it there on the spot, in fact the police for that city said they would train him again and put a policy in place that they should start printing them before taking to the jail.02 Reply- +1 y
Yeah, it was bad... they also if you tried to make a phone call make you call everyone collect... well you can't usually call a cell phone collect... got to have a land line usually for that... so the few people I did know, no way to call collect.

6K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Yes. I think four times all together. I never went to prison or even spent a whole night in jail. All but one were when I was in my teens and early 20s. Two of those were for smoking weed. On one of those times, I was released with no charges.
Another time was for something my friends and I did that was kind of fucked up (It didn't involve violence or destruction of property). I don't want to talk about it, but we deserved to get arrested. I paid penalties and served community service and probation for that when I was 18. I'm grateful that they didn't give me jail time. I learned my lesson. That record has been expunged.
The fourth time was over ten years old for crashing my car when I was DUI. No other cars or people were involved. That one was fucked up because I rarely drink and I know better than to drive when I do. It was a unique situation. But it was my fault and I deserved the costly punishment.02 Reply
1.7K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Not arrested, but I was detained until the matter was resolved. An embarrassing scene for the poor rookie police officer.
114 Reply- +1 y
How was it embarrassing for the officer?
Also, why were you detained?
u +1 yHe stopped me for having a brake light out. I was transporting human remains from a VA facility to the funeral home, and he saw the deceased person covered on the removal cot in back. He took my documents and went back to his car. Next thing I know three other patrol cars pulled up, and when they arrived he came back to my vehicle and asked me to get out, so I did. He told me not to say anything, but the circumstances were suspicious and a supervisor was on the way. A patrol supervisor showed, talked to the officer, then came up to me and apologized. It was the officer’s first week on the job, and the deceased in the back had freaked him out. Had he bothered to look at the registration he’d have seen the vehicle was registered to a funeral home. He said the officer was embarrassed and was no doubt going to be the butt of jokes at the end of shift for thinking he’d stopped a serial killer.
u +1 yThe same police officer stopped me driving a different vehicle a couple months later. As soon as he lit me up I looked down and knew I was getting pulled over for speeding. When he approached the side of the car and saw me, he said “Oh, you again. Just get out of here. Go. I’m not going through this again.”
- +1 y
@SaoirseS
Well, that sounds reasonable from the officer’s perspective don’t you think?
First thing he stopped you for, legally, was the brake light.
Then he saw a deceased individual in the back.
It would be reasonable for him to be suspicious of other things, at least call it in and if it’s nothing then it’s nothing.
But the thing he stopped you for first was legitimate
Then further notice investigations led him to be reasonable curious as to why there’s a deceased in your vehicle.
I mean, it was a mistake, but I was expecting something entirely different.
I think the officer did a good job to be honest.
Obviously, it’s just common courtesy to apologize for inconveniences even though no apologies are particularly necessary.
It’s just manners.
u +1 y@EmbraceThePain. No doubt he had every right to stop me, and he was professional toward me in every respect. I could see things from his side, and he was acting out of an abundance of caution (he didn't know what he had, and didn't want me to say anything). I didn't give him a hard time about it. To most people, including police, removals are done as discreetly as possible with no stops between the removal site and the funeral home. In time, police officers get to know funeral home removal drivers from being present at unattended death scenes; he'd been on the job only a week or so. It was more embarrassing for him because his more seasoned patrol officers and supervisors no doubt made it the story of the week and a chance to bust the rookie's chops. I've heard the patrol supervisor tell this story on at least three separate occasions from his point of view, and the story seems to grow/get embellished with each telling of it. It was resolved pretty quickly, no harm, no foul.

@SaoirseS
I would’ve been proud of my performance if I was him.
Obviously, if I’m new, I wouldn’t know this about the relationship that the police have with these people (yourself).
I’m just saying, I would’ve been proud of the level of suspicion and legality exercised. I (he) did everything right from a legal perspective, perhaps tactically as well.
No mistakes seemed to have been except for the fact that he’s new so he doesn’t know the informal relationships within the police and other members of the community - +1 y

+1 yI haven’t but once I went to Walmart with a friend and I didn’t know she was stealing and she got caught so we both got taken to the back. They said I was a decoy and I didn’t even know what that was at the time. They called the police and her parents picked her up. I had to go home in the back of a police car because my parents were still at work.

+1 ySure have for stupid reasons
729 Reply- +1 y
Which reasons? 👀
- +1 y
Destruction of property ( I was used as the destruction tool)
Had police arrest me and take me to a psych hospital.
Sitting outside a club doing nothing?
- +1 y
@Smashingdoozy
Those sound like actual reasons…… not “dumb” reasons. YOU think it’s dumb, but are they legitimately? No….
You were involved in destroying property
Sitting outside a club doing nothing is not illegal in and of itself… so, you were 100% doing something in and/or around the place that was unwarranted or you weren’t supposed to be there and was asked to leave but didn’t.
You’re definitely not sharing more of the story there. - +1 y
You're right I didn't share the entire stories. So you have no right to judge 🙃 also maybe pay attention to what I said before misquoting because now you look dumb
- +1 y
Honestly, you don’t write very clearly so it was hard to understand if you truly meant something differently than what you wrote as it stands.
You said you were used as the destruction tool in the destruction of property? What does that mean? Be more precise with how you speak.
Also, I can judge all I want.
Just did.
You didn’t get arrested for dumb reasons.
You got arrested for legitimate reasons that YOU thought were dumb. - +1 y
I said stupid reasons 🙃
- +1 y
😑
Okay…….
“Stupid” reasons……… ……… ………. - +1 y
Anyways writing out the whole story is a lot of effort. Those who know the stories have said that they were stupid. Cops having a power trip in the case of the club one. The others just a totally fucked situation.
- +1 y
The chances of the cops actually having a power trip
Versus you just making honest mistakes.
Is a lot higher
Why can’t you just take accountability of your actions and say you made mistakes?
No, you have to blame it on something else. - +1 y
Because I didn't make a mistake 🙂 they made a mistake.
- +1 y
@EmbraceThePain trust me dude tons of cops in our country are fucking douche bags who refuse to take accountability themselves so uhh lay off?
- +1 y
@Smashingdoozy
Highly unlikely, but whatever you want to say.
You got arrested for a reason, you didn’t like it, so learn from it.
@Still-alive
Did I ever say cops are never douche bags? No
When someone gets arrested, what are the chances it’s the person’s fault/mistake as opposed to the cops? I’d say 9/10.
You’ll never win any bets if you argue the opposite. - +1 y
@EmbraceThePain you dont even know all her details so how can you just come in here and willy nilly judge her like that?
- +1 y
@Still-alive
Read what she wrote
Then
Read what I wrote man.
I haven’t said anything unreasonable at all.
Also, everyone judges everyone, ALL the time.
Stop being sensitive and protective for no reason - +1 y
Guess I was that 1/10 then. Considering the charges were dropped and I was given a formal apology letter for how I was treated.
- +1 y
@EmbraceThePain “ Also, everyone judges everyone, ALL the time. ”
God you sound like an abuser with this logic here. This doesn’t let you off the hook you know that right? - +1 y
He knows the story so what you wrote does seem unreasonable to people who know what happened. You are victim blaming without knowing the story and it's sad.
- +1 y
@Smashingdoozy
Well, seeing that I cannot disprove that, I can’t say that’s not true nor that you’re making it up.
I don’t know why you didn’t write this in the beginning as it took two short sentences and was relevant to your post.
- +1 y
@Still-alive
It’s just a biological/psychological fact that we all judge everyone.
How does that make me sound like an abuser all of a sudden?
You’re not making sense. You’re just coming quick to the defense of someone without thinking.
@Smashingdoozy
I doubt you got a formal letter of apology
Also, just because charges were dropped means nothing……. You still could’ve done whatever undesirable thing/crime you’ve committed…. - +1 y
Jesus Christ, if you'd like to know the full stories feel free to dm me I'll unload my trauma onto you there 🙂🙃
- +1 y
@EmbraceThePain “ How does that make me sound like an abuser all of a sudden? ”
“Everyone does it so stop being sensitive” IS abuser logic. You’re trying to escape responsibility for your actions and instead blaming me for your bullshit.
“Everyone spanks their child stop being sensitive”
“Everyone smokes stop being sensitive”
Get real dude - +1 y
@Still-alive
