Democracy: a system of government in which rests upon the principles of majority rule and individual rights.
Capitalism: An economic and political system in which the working class is exploited. The essential feature of capitalism is the motive to make a profit, which is often why big corporations will go overseas and exploit, use child labor, and put workers in terrible factory conditions.
That’s an interesting “hot take” on capitalism but it doesn’t define what it is at all.
Democracy is a system of government where authorities are elected by popular vote, yes, majority rule, which if you think about it is kind of the opposite of individual rights since 66% can oppress the minority
Capitalism is free enterprise. It is NOT a system of government like democracy, you cannot compare the two as they are not mutually exclusive. Capitalist democracies are a thing, we live in one in NA. Capitalism is an economic system which allows anyone to trade with anyone without regulation by an authority (in its essence, we do not see true capitalism anywhere in this world today except perhaps in small pockets but not sure where those would be)
Capitalism is the freedom to start a business, make deals, hire employees, and basically means that you can do whatever you want with anyone so long as both parties consent. It is freedom. It is prosperity. It has lifted more people out of poverty than any other economic system.
Today we live in “crony capitalism” or “rigged” capitalism. The money supply is controlled by government and big banks and government subsidies upset the market by artifically propping up certain companies and industries.
You’re still not exposing how that means I can’t compare, contrast, and critique the two? As far as im concerned democracy is what america is aiming to be and is supported in American values where as capitalism is its form of economics system.
Also, yes capitalism is a political system as well - it’s just usually most often defined as an economic system.
Capitalism is NOT a system of government. It IS an economic system. Capitalism can exist independent of any government at all. Capitalism has no framework for authority. In a bare bones capitalist system THERE IS NO GOVERNMENT AT ALL
Yes it does. Apples and oranges. Read what I wrote carefully. One is a system of government. One is an economic system. You can compare the sound of the words or how they make you feel, compare em all you like, but it’s pretty retarded in my opinion. It’s like saying “what’s better, a cute purse or christianity?”
If you understood the terms that’s the kind of comparison we are talking about
You just keep giving me the same answers? You’re not explaining why they can’t be compared, so what if ones an economic system and another’s a system of government. They both go hand in hand and are important so I still see no problem with my comparison and you’re not doing very well on changing my mind
How is capitalism good when policies keep getting passed that help the rich still richer and the poor getting poorer? Our politics in the US are very broken and small, there’s a lot of corruption.
When you decrease corporate tax rates, it increases employment since firms will have more money to expand and grow. It also increases employee incentives and gives them more mobility to grow with the company. It’s based on incentives. This is best implemented during cyclical periods in which GDP is low and deflationary measures are rising. Debasement of currency is the biggest detriment when it comes to the wealth gap. Right now, wages aren’t keeping up with valuations. People who own assets are getting wealthier, and the poor can no longer afford assets such as property, It’s quite sad.
This question is nonsensical. Democracy is a political ideology, capitalism is an economic system, they aren't opposites. Also the Democrat party has nothing to do with democracy itself
I never said anything about the Democratic Party. And it’s not non sensical, there are a lot of republican in America that value capitalism far more than democracy. If you understood the two than you’d realize they contradict each other in a lot of ways like the ones I just mentioned in the description of my question
Jesus Christ 🤦🏽♂️ child. YOU CAN HAVE CAPITALISM AND STILL BE A DEMOCRACY. The two have absolutely nothing to do with each other. That's like saying should we be more socialist or a Republic. That would be a nonsense question. I mentioned the Democrat party because you mentioned the Republican party doing things like Gerrymandering, the Democrat party does the exact same thing in states that they run it's not unique to the Republican party
If i was a rich bpm counter. man and worked hard for the money i earn, do you think it's fair that i should be told by the governement that i have to bpm counter share my earnings with people who don't work their success or as hard as me?
We need to get rid of those who can't support themselves because they are a drain on everyone else. They produce children that they can't support and who also can't support themselves.

@vald9inches i look forward to the day where i can meet you in person, cunt
So you’re advocating for genocide 🤨 tf do you mean by “get rid of them” you do realize they’re human too? No matter how shitty you think they are that’s real fucked up
Alright will I know kids look at the world more simplistically. But billionaires didn’t become billionaires by being stupid. They went to great lengths and great sacrifices to get where they got. If it was just as easy as “being evil” to get rich then we would see LOTS more rich people in the world.
Also most people don’t understand how income tax works. Most of these billionaires are billionaires on paper (stock and equity holdings). If Steve Jobs suddenly sold 10 billion dollars in Amazon stock he would be looking at a tax bill of at least 3 billion dollars in federal income tax alone. But he hasn’t sold his stock yet and that’s why he doesn’t pay taxes.
I never argued that. I said extremely wealthy people become rich out of wage theft, underpaying their workers, and slave labor/child labor overseas that violates the humanitarian rights treaty as well as UN universal humanitarian rights https://www.un.org/en/global-issues/human-rights
And there’s a huge myth about rich people being hardworking that’s a myth created by the failed American dream, as well as western societies addiction to “wealth porn” you will look at fancy cars, mansions, and designer brands hoping someday you’ll be able to afford that kind of lifestyle despite the harsh reality in America being the VAST VAST majority of rich people were born into their wealth. They didn’t have to do anything to get it cause they already had “a rich daddy that could give them a “small loan of a million dollars”” like trump or like bill gates, who got a sweetheart deal from IBM, in part due to his mother serving on the United Way board with Jon Opel, chair of IBM.
This is the reason as to why big business did so well during the pandemic, while small business got devoured and had to shut down.
And of course, the rich are perfect at evading taxes. Heaven for bid they paid their fair share after all the wage theft , and exploitation of workers.
They’ll go threw any legal loophole they can to get away with paying as little taxes as possible.

Define capitalism and democracy cause it really seems you don’t know what ur talking about
Democracy: a system of government in which rests upon the principles of majority rule and individual rights.
Capitalism: An economic and political system in which the working class is exploited. The essential feature of capitalism is the motive to make a profit, which is often why big corporations will go overseas and exploit, use child labor, and put workers in terrible factory conditions.

Do you have a better understanding now?
You’re still not exposing how that means I can’t compare, contrast, and critique the two? As far as im concerned democracy is what america is aiming to be and is supported in American values where as capitalism is its form of economics system.

@OnTheLevel if you have nothing to add to the conversation than just don’t talk
Capitalism is NOT a system of government. It IS an economic system. Capitalism can exist independent of any government at all. Capitalism has no framework for authority. In a bare bones capitalist system THERE IS NO GOVERNMENT AT ALL
@Opinion that still doesn’t explain to me why I can’t compare capitalism to democracy and how they can’t be compared?

I think you need to take a step back and re examine what I’ve said.
Capitalism can exist without government. Democracy is a form of government. Can you still not see?
Many economic systems like socialism and communism are both an economic system and a form of government, but democracy and capitalism are isolated.
How exactly are democracy and capitalism mutually exclusive?
Democracy is a political system, not an economic one.
Never said it was
Then why did you juxtapose them as if they're in direct opposition? Was there a reshuffle of words again at the old high school?
Democrat > liberal > progressive > democratic socialist > we back to democrat again or what?
@doopayo The people, through democracy, can vote for either capitalism or socialism.
(However, once socialism is established, it is almost impossible to democratically choose capitalism again.)
Hint: the USA always tries anti democratic BS until it fails and reality forces democracy at them
No, even poor Americans support Capitalism because they think that maybe they will also become rich someday. Sad joke.
Capitalism is good. Wealth inequality is sad. There aren't easy answers to any of it

@Not_Average greatly explained
They are not mutually exclusive. You can have more of both without reducing the other.
Those don't even deal with the same thing. I think you mentioned should the US be more socialist or more Capitalist.

No one said you can’t have both. I said should we focus on being more democratic or capitalistic, and they have everything to do with each other?
And if you’re going to make statements than you should provide sources like I did to cite your evidence.
If i was a rich bpm counter. man and worked hard for the money i earn, do you think it's fair that i should be told by the governement that i have to bpm counter share my earnings with people who don't work their success or as hard as me?
Funny hearing a child speak political as if you know little girl😂
We should be less gay.

Are they teaching you this in school?
I’m not even taking a history course right now 💀
