It's important that everyone vote for the democrats. That's democracy right? That's why it's called "the Democratic Republic of North Korea" because every now and again they get to vote for Kim. Same thing in East Germany (Deutsche Democratische Republik) = german democratic Republic. They could vote for the party (the only party)

That's democracy, and our dear president Joe Biden is trying to explain it all the time on TV. Republicans have terrible arguments like 1,600 a day crossing the border, inflation at a record high, gas $6/gal, crime at a record high, and other irrelevant things, but preserving democracy is more important, and that can only be done by voting for the democrats.

I personally think we should just make it illegal to be a republican and outlaw the whole party and ban all trump hats and flags etc, and have only the democratic party. That's my dream democracy and imagine how all the fighting amongst Americans would stop. No more discussion.

So vote the right way. Let crime and inflation be what they will. Let Mexico run into the US. Don't whine about 6 or 7 or 9 dollar gas. Vote republican so you're not a threat to democracy

I cannot tell if you are being sarcastic or not, but I'm going to assume that you are.

This is generally not how Democrats talk. Democrats for the most part discuss their agenda as to why people should vote for them just like Republicans do. Republicans warn from illegals crossing the border, crime, inflation and so on. These are valid causes. Democrats warn from global warming, homelessness, healthcare crisis and education. Again, these are important causes.

The talk of democracy is important to the democrats, because it comes from the name. A democracy in a nutshell means majority rule. A republic means rule of elected officials (that people vote for).

Why is this difference important? The United States is more of a Republic (representative democracy), since it follows the system of the electoral college rather than a majority vote like in European elections. This means that the election is defined by key swing states, rather than a majority vote which can determine the outcome of a presidency. Democrats want to remove the electoral college, and Republicans want to keep it.

They have different philosophies when it comes to governance, which basically means that they cannot agree on ANYTHING. From the size of government, to the budget, to taxes, to military spending, to education and so on, let alone the difference in values and beliefs.

That's what they mean. What you seem to have meant is the irony of the use of the word "Democracy" in the names of not-so-democratic nations, but that has no context in this discussion. They don't say that the Republican party should be dissolve, but they warn of potential consequences of what can happen if people vote red, just like Republicans do.

Now that I have explained all of this, the main reason why there was a heavy discussion on democracy as of recently was because of January 6th, 2021. Some have described the event as a coup attempt, which should not even be what Republicans stand for (by definition, not by today's measures) as a republic is still a representative form of democracy, unless it becomes autocratic. Even though I'm a centrist, I have to point the finger at MAGA for storming the Capitol and threatening to hang Mike Pence after announcing the results of the election. The people were rightfully worried, so that had to be addressed. If Joe Biden was to do the same, not only will he be seen as a hypocrite, but people will grill him on the news the same way they did with Trump. There are no exceptions.

I’m MAGA. But not nuclear. I’m not in a cult for anyone. Especially with Trumps handlings with the vaccine and stuff. But we won’t go there.

The democrats are a threat to our Republic. There is no point in debating with a leftist and getting into their circular logic bullshit.

They have committed treason as well as many other things. The Republican side is bad too. Don’t get me wrong. But there is a lot more good people over there and even the bad ones aren’t as bad as the leftists.

Hilarious. I talked to a professor that told me he was a conservative. I told him that I thought universities didn't allow conservatives. He said he was about the only one, or at least the only one to admit it. He said all the other teachers hate him, and they hate that he hunts deer. But when the rest of the pack aren't around, individual liberals approach him all the time and ask him for some of his deer sausage.

My point? When no one is looking, liberals are going to vote red.

The United States is a federal republic, not a democracy. We are governed by elected representatives, not by direct vote of the people. If you paid attention for 5 minutes in school you would understand how important this is.

The main reason is because a lot of people have not really figured out a simple truth. If you can keep a large percentage of a countries population divided, distracted and fighting against one another a government can do whatever it wants. That is why both sides of the isle and the media supporting them go out of their way to make party politics as divisive as they can. It's also the reason why people like Laurence D. Fink (CEO of Black Rock Investments), Bill Gates, Warren Buffet and other elite have much more power and say in our government then the majority of the countries population.
