+1 yFirst of all no one but you're family is going to really care whether or not you have a baby.
2nd a 20 year old is not a baby 🙄. I'm sorry but once 18 comes around it's goodbye childhood. It's soar or fall. Float or sink 3rd You want to be the cool mom? Ok well the cool mom has skills and is able to support her children. Before having a child ask yourself the following questions: Who's house/apartment am I living in? Who's paying my rent or mortgage? Who claims me on their taxes? Who pays the taxes? Who's car am I riding in? Who pays my car insurance, rental insurance or house insurance and my medical insurance? Who's pays my phone bill? Who pays my medical bills or credit cards? Who pays my ultility bills (water, electric, heat, cable internet etc?) Who pays my 401k and life insurance? Who buys my clothes? Who buys my groceries? To be ready to have a baby ALL the answers to the above must either be "me" or "mine" I had my first child young but let me tell you I had a job which allowed me to answer "me" and "mine" to all of the above before the birth of my first! I was so financially set I had saved enough to cover every bill for the 2mos I was going to be out due to maternity leave and this was every bill covered where I didn't have to rely on my paid maternity leave. That money I used for baby necessities. 4th you are selling yourself short. There's no reason why you can't become a mother and study. You don't have to get a 4 year degree but you could. You don't have to choose child or a skills. You can do both. You can study a trait or skill. Become a tech or a dental assistant. I choose to be a young mother in my early 20s but I personally looked into studying or training in something. I had looked into becoming OSHA certified or a state jail correction officer. In the end I studied and trained for my CDL. This allowed me to take my children to work with me and I never had to pay for daycare. 5th make to the cool mom comment. A cool mom isn't someone who is only all fun and games. Kids see the cool mom as the mom who cares, the mom who is responsible, the mom who supports her children financially and emotionally. A cool mom has a unique trait, skill or education. The cool mom does something a child can be proud of. Right now my children are the ones putting pressure for me to go back to school. I didn't get that degree... I didn't need it for the longest time. But life sent me a curve ball... A major physical injury and I've lost my CDL... Now I'm working some minimum wage job. My bills are covered but my kids are looking up to me. They tell me I can be more. Which means they want more of me and your kids will reach an age too well they will question why don't you do or become more. Another thing I noticed now with a young teen she's testing the water, slacking off in school and her excuse... You don't have a degree... You never finished college... So you see if does come back around and eventually you might have to face having some sort of degree or trait or a life skill. My injury ruined mine and now I'm itching to go back to school. I hope to and I'm working on it. I wish I had someone tell me back then that I didn't have to choose child or degree. I wish I had someone tell go for both! So do it now why you are young and you're school studies are fresh in you head. You can do both... Grain a life skill trait or degree and have a child. But make sure you can support the both of you!10 Reply

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yNo no no no no your sister is wrong. I wasn’t cut out for school at 20 and got “knocked up” then and again shortly after, once my kids went to school so did I and now I have multiple degrees. I had more focus and drive when I had kids. Now at 35 after taking some low paid jobs to see my kids I am about to go down the career path. My kids love me and my teenage daughter is my best friend all her friends think I’m so cool and love coming to my house. My boyfriend is 25, we’ve been together a few years now and the kids both adore him and he’s so energetic because he’s young. I am the mum that takes my kids surfing or to trampoline parks and joins in. My partner joins in too! Both my kids do well in school and in life. My daughter travels the country as an actress and singer at 15 and my son is pretty cool too! They tell me everything we have no secrets and I could count the amount of teenage spats we’ve had on one hand.
I have always put them first and I think that’s contributed hugely to our success. My kids friends are all kind of messed up because they didn’t have the same focus from their parents as they had careers and marriages to focus on. We’ve been through a lot as a family but they also saw me graduate which my daughter was in awe at and is now determined to be like me.
Do it if you are sure this is what you want and the kids will be your focus and I wish you all the best.00 Reply
the only friends i have that stayed happily married so far ironically don't have college degrees. I'm not sure what to make of that. I myself have had zero desire to continue schooling after high school aside from trying my hat at massage certification. I'm not joking when I say this, it's really upsetting to me. I remember so many of my female friends in high school who wanted to get a big career going before they settled down and they are now either from broken engagements or abandoned by those they dated for years. many have fallen into deep depression and given up on love forever. I'm sorry I can never do that and I can never give up on trying for a family someday. The sooner the better for me too. Follow your heart hun and dont listen to what society tries to push. I've seen too many gen Xers and millennials hurt by thinking a career was the be all end all. I hope you and the person you are with are blessed with happy, healthy children and an unbreakable unity for the rest of your lives. <3

u +1 yMy opinion? I think there are three possibilities. The first is that I don't think that Millennial men and women like or trust each other very much. The second is that Millennials are either highly career-driven or drowning in college debt, so relationships, marriage, and children aren't as much of an option to them.
And the third is that, if I may be completely honest, I think Millennials also just don't seem to like children very much.
Personally, I love kids. Being a dad has been a much more fun and joyful adventure than I'd thought it would be. I'm all for getting married and then having children (in that order) at younger ages than most Millenials would argue. That doesn't mean get married and 17, but don't wait until your late 20s or early to mid 30s.00 Reply

+1 yIt's all fun and games until that baby is living on food stamps and your family find themselves helping with finances and babysitting.
You can't get rich while being single mom. You are watching so much social media and influencers crap. Having a full time job without proper education will mean someone needs to help out with the child or you'd have to pay for child care and live in poverty.
Starting a business doesn't need education but most startups fail darling and only few make it. It also is time consuming and guess what the baby is also time consuming. That's if neither of you have health issues. It is nieve to think that you can get rich while having a baby and starting a business. That's rare and many of these businesses fail eventually. Go read the statistics and do some research so you wake up from that Lala land.
people who are young and have babies and don't live in poverty usually have a support system around them. A husband or family and maybe good job before having the baby. Your sister wants the best for you. Having a baby is not something you do to feel good. It is something you do because it is the best time and thing for the baby.
But if course like many young single moms out there you won't listen. And then would depend on the system, fall on your family, or God forbids become one of those stressed burned out moms who take it on their kids.00 ReplyI fully support women having children early, if they can find a good man. I am too old now to be looking for that demographic, but I see a dangerous contradiction in trying to convince women they are not valuable and safe unless they have a career first. Yes, you are taking a risk if a man leaves you. Men are taking risks when they marry you. But we should be looking for ways to live successfully and expect deep commitment, rather than constantly looking for backups and escape plans.
If your plan includes getting a reliable man to commit all the way, you have my respect. A career can be pursued later as well if you really want. No reason for you to have to chase a career if you don't want to.01 Reply- +1 y
by the way, if you live in a country where you have to pay fo college, you barely spend a few years working and then stay at home with multiple children for the most part of ten years, the only thing you will achieve is burden yourself and your husband with a ton of debt for no reason. Why anyone in their right mind would want that is beyond me.
+1 yIt's not that we think you are babies. It's just that there is so many opportunities out there if you apply yourself.
I get that you nay think but I have a choice and you do.
But I guess what they're trying to say is before you've even lived you'll be tied down with such a big responsibility.
You may see the likes of Kylie jenner having a kid young but she has help and money.
I don't know your financial situation but the advice would always be, try and gain independence and self reliance...
In the end its really your decision and having a baby isn't the end of the world.
Good luck.00 Reply

Hey, I can’t against you, but I congratulate you for having a baby.
Honestly, my sister’s millennial and got knocked by her husband when she got 14 years old. No joke. Her life was mistaken for her baby, and she accomplished her high school and colleges. So she have 7 children and they are happier in big family. One thing, her older daughter in high school is gen Z too and she is against it. It is her choice to don’t want baby, and she want to graduate her college and work a job.00 Reply
Anonymous(30-35)+1 yHiii, millennial here☺️ I can guarantee you we don’t give a shit lol no offense. Maybe your sister does because like, that’s what siblings do and being a 20 y/o mom isn’t as exciting as it sounds but hey, at least you made it out of high school. You act as though mf’s haven’t been having teenage pregnancies and whatever for centuries😂 Anyway, I’m surprised you actively want to be a mom bc like don’t you want to party? Only have to worry about yourself? All your money goes to you, not to a child’s schooling, medical, dental, clothes, etc? Don’t let TikTok fool you into thinking every young parent winds up successful. It’s your body tho bbg so if you’re ready for motherhood then do your thing and good luck to you🙃

Because our masters (the rulers that own us) have some agenda (perhaps lower population growth) and since they own the media and almost all schools and colleges, that it what being taught. Therefore, most slaves believe it. And, make no mistake about, by any reasonable standard, you, I, most people in the USA are slaves because there are few things you own that the state cannot take, including you your children if you have any. Nor can you travel without a license or the government's permission. Even if walking, the police can stop and question at any time.
The believe that girls your age are to young to have children is contrary to natural selection and several million years of human existence. Prior to and well into the 1900s, it was common for teenage girls to marry and children. An unmarried woman your sister's age would have been an old maid.00 ReplyIt's better to have kids once you reach a level of maturity, not just because you want one right now. You should ask yourself if you and your partner are mentally mature to raise a child. There is a big difference in wanting a baby and wanting to raise a child and be a parent. No disrespect but saying stuff like "I am trying to get pregnant and be a cool mom" sounds irresponsible, there is more to a parent then to be "cool". I'd suggest to you and your partner to rethink this really good. Just don't be one of those who want a baby just cause they look cute.
You should also ask yourself if both of you are financially stable to afford a child, are you living in a healthy environment etc.00 Reply
+1 yIf YOU not your partner only have the money 💵 to provide for a baby, yourself and a household... go ahead. However, if you don’t count with that money or you’re going to overwork yourself to have the money and not have enough time for that baby, you should reconsider it.

+1 yAs long as you can financially afford to have kids at 20 years old it's your life and your choice. Do what makes you happy. I think some may be skeptical because maybe they had kids young and wish they would have waited and lived it up before being tied down with kids. But maybe being tied down with kids and everything wonderful they bring is what you want.
So you do you. Good luck.😎00 Reply "I'm trying to get pregnant and be a cool mom".
There's your answer love. You mention college but not once is there a mention of a husband or any partner for that matter. Children need a mother and a father.
The two-parent marriage situation used to be the first step now it's an afterthought.
To add, I am not against gen-z having babies, it's the attitudes you guys have that is scary.00 Reply
+1 yYou are entitled to your own decisions, of course. But do know that it is almost universally more challenging to raise children in a more expensive world, which has multiple critical aspects affecting its survival, such as climate change, pollution.
Also, it depends on which country is it that you are planning to raise kids in. Being born in a wealthy, sparsely populated, adequately governed country with multiple social programs; can be a huge difference10 Reply- 777 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
+1 yYou're probably not going to realize how much a kid costs until you actually have one. It's your life, but yes, it will set you back unless you were born into money. Studies have been done and it's one of the Main Things that can set a woman back at an Early Age. I think it was the Brookings Institution which is a Think Tank. They really looked into the Main Ways someone can set themselves back. However, if you decide to go through with it so early then Good Luck.

Older people, especially family or friends, will ALWAYS fret whether a younger person is ready and prepared to be a parent. Your BEST argument is to PROVE that you ARE!20 Reply
Anonymous(30-35)+1 yWell first of if you want to get pregnant just to be a cool mom, then your first priority doesn’t seem like it would be about your child. Ain’t nobody got time to focus on being a “cool mom” once you’re child arrives. Should give a fuck less about anything other than being a “good mom”. When your a good parent people will automatically think you’re a “cool mom”
00 ReplyBecause they know something that you don't, so listen. They had a whole life ahead and many years to live with different experiences and seen people around them go through this stuff. They speak from experience, you don't. You're still young & don't know what you're getting into. It's all fun & games until it's not

Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yI think you mean Gen X. Gen Y is millennial.
Getting a good education while you are young is so much easier then later on, particularly if you then have children.
It's true that some entrepreneurs don't have degrees but a university education opens doors to opportunities that are otherwise difficult.
You also don't talk about a partner. Are you planning to raise a child on your own. Statistics are not good for the child comparatively.
