Religious freedom is considered a fundamental human right for every American. The First Amendment states: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof."
The First Amendment compels the government not to show preference to a specific religion or take away an individual's ability to exercise faith. It also ensures that neither the state nor the church has the power to rule over each other. Under the First Amendment, Americans have the right to practice any faith or to have no faith. Legally, they can do so without fear of government coercion, even in public.
In practice, the fiery disagreements over how freedom of religion can and should be expressed have led to clashes over God's mention in the Pledge of Allegiance, displaying the Ten Commandments in public spaces, and businesses denying service based on religious belief. The issue is particularly prevalent around Christianity, which appears in many aspects of public life in the United States, despite not being the official religion.
Many people with pro-religious views argue that religious freedom means they have a right to make choices about who they serve or employ and what they display or do based on their religious values. Others argue that religious freedom means not having to follow the trappings of a specific religion in public spaces or required pledges, and also not being denied access to goods, services, or jobs based on their religious beliefs.

If the weather is clear, it's safe to walk along the cliffside, because you can see clearly and know where the edges are. If it's foggy, it becomes MUCH more dangerous.
If you go into most stores and read the signs on the walls, you'll see one that says "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone", or words to that effect. Would you really prefer things to be hidden, and to be discriminated against without knowing why? Ideally, you wouldn't be discriminated against at all, but that's not going to happen- for you OR anyone else- so wouldn't you rather it be upfront?
Freedom of religion means the freedom of all religions. Not just yours. It also means the freedom from religion. A company can not use their religion as an exuse to discriminate against others who don't follow the same religion.
There are few beliefs in most religions that would cross lines if followed properly. So most of the time there is no religious reason for conflict. Most of the time it's just a pride issue, or a comfort issue, and one/both sides just need to get over themself.
However, when the religious take legitimate actions of faith, which legitimately hinder other people's liberties or opportunities, they should (in that same faith) rely on their god/s--not their government--for protection. The government is of the people, not of god, and it should protect the people being attacked.
I agree with you, I very much believe so. They are also attacking our freedom of speech, the freedom of the press, the freedom of assembly, or the right to petition the government for redress of grievances.
We are no longer a free nation, it got really bad once internet and cellphones took over.
Now they know where we go, how we vote, what we buy. They know more about us then we know about ourselves

Lately there was an all out war on Christmas. Towns were prohibited from decorating their downtown areas with Christmas decorations. There can be no manger scenes either. One of the things President Trump did was to make it okay to say "Merry Christmas"
@MzAsh There was one near where I live that put up a manger scene and then had to remove it. The local VFW said that it could be located on their property.
In America you're only "free" when your side is winning. That's what our society has come to... children bickering about things the other doesn't care about and trying it to shove it down each other's throats. Frankly I say get a damn room y'all. But leave the rest of us who want to enjoy existing alone.
That and freedom isn't spelled with a but or a asterisk before or after the word. Yet both sides of many debates really really want to add a but or a long list of asterisks to it. So both sides should be points fingers at themselves and other side.
We Christians are commanded not share in other people's sins. Baking a cake you know it's to be celebrated in a homo wedding is participating in their wrong doing.
It's a well intended amendment, but like any law, it's subject to a wide variety of interpretations and that's where the judicial branch gets involved. I'm fairly certain that "religious freedom" was never intended to be a basis for "religious discrimination".
IMHO, as long as all religious dogma and its practices stays within the walls of a church or place of worship, then drink all the Kool-Aid you want. Once outside the walls and in the public arena, then it can be considered offensive, insulting or demeaning.
It sure was infringed upon when they arrested a preacher for holding a sermon in a parking lot and closed down churches, but allowed bars to stay open.
