Very many.
There have always been a variety of issues. Some people are active in certain ones.
I began high school in 1969 and met some people who were much more informed about social issues than I. They were anti-war (Viet Nam), against the draft, very supportive of the civil rights movement, and women's liberation. I was very much on the same page. Those were the days of anti-establishment, anti-authoritarianism, pro-liberty and freedom, "peace and love" liberalism. Think of Woodstock. It's hard to explain how totally different my friends and I were then, compared to modern liberals and Democrats. It's like night and day. We were "mellow" social radicals, not like the shrill, confrontational, dogmatic, pro-authoritarian, msm brainwashed snowflakes of today.
In the early 2000s, I joined a local environmental non-profit and served as Board President for five years. Climate change wasn't the focus. We held large events 3 or 4 times a year featuring films and global experts to educate people about various environmental issues like pollution, extinction, GMOs, toxic chemicals, recycling, composting, land restoration, and individual sustainability, to name a few. We connected with local farmers and ranchers. We started the first, local farmer's market and it became an institution.
Through that organization, I met very many well meaning, low-key activists. One of whom became one of my most valued and respected friends. She later became the city mayor and was reelected. She is one of the smartest, best informed people I know and is currently running for governor of California. She is as activist as you can get, but in the best ways possible. She's non-ideological, nonpartisan, knows exactly what's going on in the world and, therefore, appeals to smart people across the political spectrum.
These days, I'm mainly activist on-line. Several years after I started using Facebook, I started running across eye opening posts by friends. At some point, it occurred to me to seek out 'friends' around the world who were smarter and better informed than myself. I developed an amazing network. Those people and I share lots of information that officials don't want people to know.
My wife never knew anything about history, politics or world events. She started learning bits from me over the years. About 10 year ago, and more so after the 2015 presidential primaries, she started really catching on. Then covid came along. By then, she was too informed to buy the narrative. She started networking with like-minded people and joined a growing, local organization to oppose authoritarian "emergency mandates". The organization now has over 100 members and is accomplishing a lot in terms of educating more and more people, assisting businesses in fighting mandates, support "constitutional sheriffs", put pressure on city and county government, school boards, health commissioners, state and federal government to end totalitarianism.
Over the past few years, I have distanced myself from many "liberal" friends. Through my wife, I have connected with hundreds of unmasked, unmuzzled, unvaccinated, unafraid human beings in various organizations, all working to preserve liberty and justice. I also continue my activism on-line and spread information far and wide.

I used to go to some protests and knew many of the organizers at both the local and national level. I've also known people who were not so much activist when I knew them, but they went on to be involved in the speaking circuit, radio, news, etc.
Some of the people involved in protests are just plain assholes. For some of those guys, their job is to stir up trouble. They are instigators who travel from place to place stirring up trouble and getting people emotionally fired up enough to do things they might not otherwise do.
Actual popular Politicians worth mentioning:
1. I met former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in '06 during a charity dinner where he was campaigning for his re-election for a 2nd term.
2. I am currently a personal friend for former 8-division boxing champ and present-day Philippine Senator Manny 'Pacman' Pacquiao.

During my early university and high school days I was around a lot of political activists because I was part of the punk rock scene. Political activism is a major part of punk rock.
My first roommate in college thought he was a political activist. He really was a horses ass.
I don''t know if I actually met one but I saw a bunch of them on the street downtown a couple years ago when Pres. Trump was holding a rally, here. A couple weeks later, the street where they actually stood opened up and nearly swallowed an entire bus!!
Yes, I have met political activists and one of them was me. Many centuries ago I was an Area Representative for the Naturist Action Committee of The Naturist Society and have spoken at state legislator sub-committees on anti-nudity issues that would have hurt nudists and naturists if passed. None did.
I will consider myself a political activist. Stop being said AOC is not a political activist She is a bartender who mysteriously decided to become a congresswoman.
The only political activists I know are on Youtube.
Yes. They were lame and didn't actually do anything but sit on their ass and complain.
Pretty sure they have called me baby killer to my face a few times, so yeah.
I've met several from different marches and events that I've gone to. But I have not met in person the big big figureheads that you see on TV all the time
Yeah, I’ve been on dates with several of them too. All were in cult-like thrall to their cause and therefore undateable.
I've met 2 political activist of what I can think of right now.
Yeah, constantly. How does someone go through life without frequently meeting political activists?
Today, everything is political, and everyone is an activist.
Many of my former phd mate were leftist political activists. Also some of my university mate were political activists but on the opposite side.
Politicians aren’t political activists. AOC is a congresswoman.
