So at my job, my boss told me to shadow the managers since I applied for full time and the management program. Today I witnessed a debate between the manager and customer. It was about the mask. Where I live, for some stores or restaurants it's mandatory to wear a mask even if vaccinated, and if the city finds out that the rules hasn't been followed they can and will shut down the restaurant/store/gas station, etc... So my manager came to me so she can teach me how to approach a customer and kindly ask to wear a mask, tell them why and apologize and to also let them know if they don't have one we can offer them a mask for free. So when we approached her, she started yelling how she doesn't want to wear a mask, and how she doesn't believe in masks, or covid, and ranting how she had to get vaccinated even though she didn't want to, blah blah blah. So my manager apologized and told her she had to leave the store, she didn't leave and instead, she called the police on us, police came, asked her questions and they came to us, we told them our side of the story and the cops were on our side, and at the end she left, I honestly don't know what she was expecting to happen when the cops arrive.

Well…I think there’s still this big misconception going on that we wear a mask for our own safety. So a lot of times when someone is refusing to wear a mask, I think —or at least I HOPE— their rationale behind it is more of an “I’m not worried about contracting the virus myself, so why do you care if I have a mask on?” And the issue is, is we’re asking people to wear masks to protect EACH OTHER, vaccinated or not, since we all can still carry and spread it. I’m vaxxed and boosted, plus I had Covid about a month ago and was asymptomatic (rare bipartisan shoutout to the Trump and Biden administrations for overseeing development and distribution of the vaccine, respectively), so my concern is near 0% for myself. But the crazy thing about that is, is there are literally BILLIONS of other citizens of this crazy planet that I need to be considerate of so as not to be a selfish douchebag. Wild concept, I know😂 So with all that in mind, to NOT wear a mask is essentially saying “fuck you, rest of humanity. It’s all about me.” But I really like to think the majority of anti-mask people are better than that, and are just operating off of misconceptions and misinformation, and thinking this is strictly a personal choice issue, akin to how some people feel about wearing a seatbelt when driving. Except it’s different, because you could metaphorically crash the car and some complete stranger in another town, state, or even country, but who is someone else’s loved one, is the one who goes through a windshield. It doesn’t just affect you, in fact we already know it’s more about others than yourself, the idea is that we ALL do it, we ALL pull the wagon in the same direction, we ALL protect each other, and we just do the best we can in this crazy, constantly changing situation. OF COURSE people who simply don’t want to have to do it are going to come up with a million-and-one reasons why we shouldn’t do it, and they’ll cloak it in pseudo-science with some rogue doctor who was the fifth doctor they were referencing in some commercial where they say “4 out of 5 doctors recommend…”, or some other “but muh freedom”-type nonsense, but that’s all that is, NONSENSE, and it’s embarrassingly clear to everyone else what they’re trying to do.

Anyway, there’s been some very wild responses to all the Covid stuff overall, like some people truly couldn’t handle having to handle it, and it just broke them. Like Olive Garden and Applebee’s should be running commercials like “In 2020 muthafuckas were PROTESTING to eat here, SONNNNNN”😝 But yeah, due to unfortunate political hijacking and misinformation campaigns, a ton of people are out there unvaccinated. I’m frustrated by many of these people, but I still don’t want them to get sick. I hear these stories of people in ICU about to die, begging for the vaccine, and having to be told it’s too late for that, learning that they were led astray by people who don’t give a shit about them and made what’s proved to be a fatal decision…. that shit just breaks your heart, man. Even if I’m frustrated with them, I’m not mad at them and I don’t wish them serious illness or death. The people who roll their eyes or think less of me when I wear a mask, I wish they realized they’re exactly who I’m wearing it for. If pretty much everyone was vaxxed like we are with something like polio, the vaccinated wouldn’t need to have to worry about killing the unvaccinated anymore. That’s all I want, I’m not trying to force anything on anyone, I just want people to be safe and make the right decision based on correct information🙏

SARS-Covid-2 binds to ACE2 receptors, which are present in every single mammalian cell. What that means is that ultimately, Covid can infect every mammal. This was verified several months ago; it's not news. It should have spelled the end of all restrictions, because it made absolutely unambiguous the truth that many of us have been shouting for two years now: you cannot avoid it. You cannot outwait it. Even basic herd immunity strategies aren't going to provide much protection; the decision to focus on prevention instead of treatment is going to be paid for with the lives of many, many vulnerable people.

So obviously no, I'm not okay with people perpetuating measures that kill the young and healthy in the name of protecting the old and sickly, especially since they don't actually do that.

I fully accept that there's no point in being an asshole about it, though; the battle lines are drawn, and people have decided by now where they're going to stand. If a business demands it, I'll just leave. My state demanded it; I just left.

I have no problem wearing a mask, or with being vaccinated. Other than in health care facilities, generally speaking there's no mask mandates that I know of in place for customers in business establishments. Some restaurants in some counties require their wait staff and kitchen help to wear masks, but I don't know if that's mandated or an establishment's business decision.
During the early months of the pandemic, we had to limit attendance at funerals and visitations to family and friends, not to exceed 25. Masks were also required for all attending, same with social distancing. Now they're not required, but encouraged at gatherings. We don't require visitors to wear masks unless the family so requests, which would be published in the funeral notice. We provide masks for those who show up without them.

i'm against the mask mandates since they don't even prevent covid from spreading. plus i sometimes get mild anxiety in one. whenever i struggle breathing / feel like i'm in a narrow space my heart just starts beating faster and i get nervous. so to me, wearing a mask is pointless and even slightly harmful. however that's just for me personally, so i suppose it's different for everyone.

I’ve been fully vaccinated, but that’s been my choice. And here in the United Kingdom, most of the Covid rules have now been eased. But I still wear a mask when visiting stores, as I had to on Friday when I went to collect my new glasses from the opticians.

The problem being now with this Covid, you will never please everyone. They’ve got their own opinions (which is fair) and you’ll end up going around in circles having arguments you will never win.

I will continue to wear my mask to keep the peace in stores and enclosed public spaces.

If masks aren’t mandated, then I will usually not wear one.

Why? Well, it can be annoying to breathe through one and because I don’t think my chances of getting COVID and then dying from it are high.

I just prefer to not wear a mask because when talking to people it seems to be better to gather facial cues from them and vice versa.

If someone wants to wear a mask then I’m not going to object to them wanting to do so.

If it’s mandated, it’s no big deal, I’ll wear one.

I’m just saying it’s a slight preference of mine to not wear a mask.

I can put one on without any protest.

If I’m coming home to someone who is more at risk from getting COVID and dying from it then I’ll wear my mask just because I don’t want to possibly bring something to them and them dying because of that.

I'm 100% opposed to mandatory masking. I won't bore you with all the reasons why.
If an establishment insists that I wear one or refuses to serve me, I will never ever patronize that establishment again.

The government officials who are imposing mandates do so for cynical reasons that have nothing to do with public health. The goal is to obtain compliance in order to usher in totalitarianism under the globalist technocratic, eugenicist plans for the Great Reset/New World Order/One World Government. I have no problem wearing the mask when going out in public and, indeed, in my country you can be fined for failing to do so. I got vaccinated because of a recent government mandate and to protect my own personal interests. As for that nutcase you describe that ranted and raved, I think that people with mental health issues should seek out the services of suitably qualified professionals to help them with their issues before being allowed to interact with the rest of us more normal and stable humans. She is part of the problem, not with the mask or with the COVID 19 virus, but with the wider society.

I am fully vaccinated. I hope everyone else gets vaccinated especially adults 65+. However; at some point extremely soon (like now), we need to give up the mask bullshit. Its already been 2 years of our lives; and the vaccines have been out for a long while now. Even though cloth masks only offer modest protection, I don’t mind wearing it and don’t have to be told to put it on when I enter a store or place of business. It’s the right thing to do. Plus, when it’s clearly posted on a sign at a location, I believe in respecting the rules of the property owner. That’s why I have no sympathy for people who are asked to leave.
