Will Smith was just banned from all Academy events for 10 years - did he deserve this?

I think he deserved this and more. He should have been banned for life, arrested and charged, and sued in Civil court by Chris Rock, the guy he assaulted and battered. What do you think?

If anyone except a famous actor had done this, they would be arrested and sued and would face criminal charges. Why not this guy - what the hell makes him special?

Actors are apparently special. Plus he has money and money has influence. Just ask the college entrance scandal celebs. They just had to pay fines and spend a few night in a comfy cell, and only then because so many people were raising cain about it.

I think a ban for 10 years justified everything else isn´t because it was an emotional overreaction and nothing more. He apologized so the situation is over for me and I think many people make more out of the situation than it was.

I think there have been far worse people at the Academy and they did absolutely fuck all. Compared with those, Will Smith did basically nothing. As such, I am once again asking for even a shred of consistency

John Wayne - had to be pulled away from physically assaulting a native American woman who picked up an award as she asked for native Americans to not be dehumanized

Roman Polanski - sentenced for drugging and raping a 13 year old, fled to France in order to not be jailed. Then won multiple Academy Awards and have received standing ovations from them

Adrien Brody - sexually assaults Halle Berry by forcing a kiss on her on the main stage as he picks up an award at the Academy Awards

Jim Carrey - sexually assaults Alicia Silverstone by forcing a kiss onto her. And he returns all the time
