Are you working out for yourself for your own sake or is this a progress bar to manipulate others? I get what you're saying but it's hard to read people's intentions and we are better at picking up actions. These things get mixed up and people assume the worst.

A good example is the rampant issue of steroids and such in a pursuit of a male bodytype that is not realistic without harmful substance abuse as a form to reaffirm how "manly" they are. Pure insanity that is and it is ruining their lives over some stupid personal insecurity.

The MSNBC article is about how white supremacists lure young white men that workout on the social media to follow group chats were they are targeted by far right groups. At the end it even says that there's nothing wrong with working out and that it's perfectly healthy.
This is just another example of people fixating on what "the other side" said and totally blowing things way out of proportion.
Go outside and take a walk. Try to go to a gym without your phone and look around at the people around you. No one is judging you as a white supremacists. No one it targeting you.
What the west thinks is the far left, is actually not far left. You look at many countries with leftist insurgencies (far left) and those guys get up early in the morning for drills and practice and change location every two days, walk through the jungles for hours. You need to be fit to be able to keep up. The west has cartoonified many things.
All the far left people I know enjoy working out, as do I. It's good to be fit and strong, regardless of your political views. It's just good as a human being for your health.

Because they see it as a sign of "toxic masculinity" if guys are focused on their body and especially focused on building up muscles. To some people that seems outdated and unnecessary mostly because they don´t do it and they would feel even better if no did it. Some people are just intimated by it so they try to make those people feel bad that are actually doing something not just dream about changing.
I'm left wing and I work out. I read the article and it wasn't about that though. It said there are far right groups pretending to be just about fitness and then sneaking in the propaganda later. I have never heard of any political group opposing workouts.
