Would you shoot a 75 year old woman with dementia holding 2 knives? Why are cops outrageously badly trained in the United States of America?

Imagine this is your elderly mom or grandma who is struggling with a serious mental illness as dementia and a cop puts 2 slugs through her in less than 40 seconds, killing her in front of you.

Why not tase her, pepper spray her, drop kick her, what can she possibly do, Bruce Lee flying kicks and quick fighting moves?

hmm. Awkward. Shouldn't THE FAMILY have been able to handle a "frail old woman with knives"? They called the police on her because she was threatening to kill them. They should have handled it themselves. Nobody will defend that officer here. He'll be going to prison over this. (Once again, for the libtards in the back: this doesn't mean that all or most of police are bad.) 🤣

But this is why I STRONGLY support and advocate for people to exercise their 2nd Amendment rights. When there's a threat to your life or your family, you shouldn't have to hide and wait for someone else to try and save you. When you have the ability to protect yourself and others, you have a greater chance of being able to dictate the outcome of a dangerous situation. When you have to leave it up to a third party, you're trusting them to do the "right thing".

If that's too complicated for the "educated anti-gun crowd" I'll make it easy. The FAMILY could have used a taser, pepper spray, held her at bay with a GUN, or threw a pillow or any random object at her and then rushed to tackle her. After all, she is just a "frail old woman". But they chose to let someone else dictate the outcome and in this case, it didn't end well.

Police officers in America are woefully undertrained.

Did you know that in Japan police officers are REQUIRED to have a black belt in a martial art and are expected to continue training and staying well practiced. Granted, they don’t carry and use firearms, though they do have mentally unstable people who start swinging knives about.

I've known several police officers who did martial arts. But most weren’t black belts (some were) and they had to pay for their training out of their own pocket and do it outside of work hours.

These are things that America can change. Unfortunately also the minute a police officer touches someone they get criticized for assaulting them.

So touch them and it’s police brutality and you’re likely to have a law suit to contend with, shoot them and you’re a trigger happy cop.

An old lady with two knives can fucking kill you. That's the reality you're failing to account for. How would he know she has dementia? Is he a doctor? Can he diagnose her on site? And even if he did know, does it matter? She can still kill you. Her mental state made her more of a threat, not less. You never meet lethal force with non-lethal force. That's how people get hurt or killed. Tasers are a one shot deal and you have to land both prongs. They can be foiled by thick clothing. If your taser fails, you're one on one with someone with two knives at point blank range. At that point it wouldn't even be safe to try to draw your gun. Pepper spray requires you to get close enough to stab or cut. Not a good option either. This whole situation sucks, but there's no good answer to it. If he had it in his head to disable her without killing her he'd have to go to the night stick and he'd have to be damn good with it. Otherwise he's gonna get hurt. I don't fault him for not wanting to get hurt.

I do have something for you to think about though. I know of several people who have suffered from some form of dementia and not ONE of them have ever picked up a couple of knives and waved them at anybody.

You're one person. How many people do you actually know with dementia? Five or six? And it doesn't matter neither.

Dementia is a serious illness and the person has lost their ability to reason properly especially a old person.

This cop knew it was a old lady and she had dementia before he arrived.

This cop is a major A- **** I know he wouldn't shoot his grandma or mother to death who had dementia and was acting irrational with a knife.

A simple tazer shot would have worked but no he wanted to shoot her dead like the scumbag he is.

I use to work in a hospital so I saw quite a few. Don't get me wrong. I'm not condoning what the cop did and I'm sure he will be investigated and if deemed illegal will go to jail for it
