That's $12K at a public university or $8K if she did her first 2 years at a state college and then moved to a university or free through scholarship if she was actually a good student. So basically 3-4 weeks of her salary. Obviously she owes more because she made a personal choice to go to a private university, she likely stayed in the dorms and covered other living expenses over the time, and probably took the max amount possible so that she could buy things like that Tesla or to put a down payment on a home and thus abused the system. I see why she wants her money back, she didn't even study economics when she was hanging out on campus, but she paid enough money so they gave her a piece of paper at a private university because they are in business...

Most people I knew in graduate school weren't like that. They often worked as TAs to get discounted tuition and then had an outside job on top of it to pay for their regular living expenses. Scientists, engineers, medical professionals, etc. tend to pay their way. The socialists tend to gravitate toward the social sciences and arts.

Correct. They can't just forgive a loan, they must pay the lender. Who ever has the paper, has to be paid and record the loan as satisfied. Lenders typically don't care who's making the payments, as long as they're on time and in full. That said, it would be a massive bill... Some estimates put the price tag at $1.75 trillion.
