Rural Oklahoma, to make a decent wage I have to drive an hour and a half to get to work. Combine that with inflation on everything due to distance, and an 11% sales tax on everything including food. 20% in income taxes (between state and federal) brings me to 31% of my check going to the government. ... between fuel and taxes my dollar is $0.50 before I see anything for it... Still not spending money, though, $350 goes to CC debt from covid, $200 to the electric coop, $50 goes between the volunteers FD and the trash pickup, $350 to a car payment, $75 to insurance, $100 to meds, $125 to food (that's not eating out ever)
