It is clearly desperation by Biden and Democrats. They know they have destroyed the economy and are in trouble , this is clearly trying to buy votes for Democrats.

Will this help Democrats get votes or backfire? It will be Gov't printed money that pays it or higher taxes. This will only make college more expensive for others.

Also , will Fed reverse course and lower interest rates before elections to help Democrats and stop losses with Nasdaq and Dow?

He won't do it and it won't matter anyway. Which is why he won't do it. The Dems are trying to use student debt forgiveness as a carrot to dangle for the next vote. It's not a problem the ACTUALLY want to solve. Kinda like abortion. Multiple times over the past 50 years they COULD Have passed a national law legalizing abortion. But they didn't. Why? Because then the couldn't use the prospect of abortion restrictions to motivate their base to vote for them, even though when they WERE in power they'd do NOTHING to solve this problem.

The right does this same game too, most notably with immigration and to a lesser extent with public spending. They COULD solve the illegal immigration problem EASILY if they wanted to. Build a wall? No--not needed. Just deploy the U. S. Army to the border to stop all entry. Solved. Time taken to resolve? Less than one week after a Republican president takes the oath of office. Would their voters cheer like mad? Absolutely. Will it ever happen? Nope. Same reason as above.

Sounds like more liberal pandering, to buy votes. The Dems know as well as the Republicans its a lie. Only way its possible if is if the Liberals get super majority in the Senate to over come a filibuster. That's what this is coming to, who can get the super majority and once one party does it will be the end of the system of balances. I will be how liberty dies, and it will happen some day.

Even if they did pass legislation the Republicans would get knocked down in the supreme court like they did with Obama Care. So with out the super major its all empty promises.

I've always said they should allow them to be in bankruptcies, but person has to 'turn' their degree back in if they do that.

It opens the door for a way out for some of them.

In Congress and within the executive branch, Democrats and republicans are basically the same politically. They all work for the lobbyists and do the bidding of their corporate masters. They’re spin doctors. Walking through the revolving door and making a killing doing it. It’s a club that will burn you publicly if you go against their overlords. The lower echelons are usually more about doing a good job and trying to keep things going smoothly but the upper echelons have been corrupted by greed, power, laziness, and every other vice imaginable. I would say that only a few have real desire to do good in their position. that would be incredibly inflationary, because $1.6 trillion would have to be printed to pay the lenders back. And this at a time when inflation is already very high.

Cutting interest rates in a high-inflation environment in which the Democrats are deliberately causing energy price inflation that bleeds into the entire economy would be insane and cause a large spike in long term rates that would collapse markets.

That said education beneficial to society should be paid by taxes and given to all who are willing in order to better the world.

I got a master’s degree in my 40’s and still haven’t paid off the loan. I as an individual would not rob my neighbor to pay it off, and I don’t want the government acting as my intermediary to do the same.

But if Social Security defaults and I don’t pay my student loans, I actually lose more than I gain.

Student loans they're too small to bail out. I think student loans should have a tighter rain on how the money goes out. I think a lot of the student loans that have not been paid is because the former student failed out and is having a hard time finding employment to make the payments.

We do not know who the candidates are yet. If you have not worked 5 years in the area that you got your degree in your loan should NOT be paid off. I think abortion is an individuals decision. The Feds will not lower interest rates.
