Ah yes. The early 70’s. A time in American history where people had common sense, morals and values, and virtually everybody oppossed abortion.

But now of course we have an entire political party and over half the country who support murdering babies if the mother deems it too inconvenient.

And so I’m just wondering what’s made people change their minds on the issue in the 50 years since it was forced on the entire country against our will.

Why aren’t people as pissed off now about Roe v Wade as they were back then when it was originally enforced?

What made most people think murdering babies was ok over time when virtually nobody supported it originally?

Wouldn’t the knowledge of “oh abortion is bad” have been passed down?

It is politicized because the right are using it to make sure that they get all, or most of the votes of Evangelicals.
The phrase "murdering babies" is purposely inflammatory and designed to get more people to support their effort to end abortion, because after all, who could possibly support myrdering babies? Only some sort of demon spawn right?
Abortion is nothing like "murdering babies"
Essentially this is a very complex medical issue which, under many of these new state laws, will prevent a doctor from prescribing the best treatment for his patient.
Ectopic pregnancy? 0% chance this results in a viable pregnancy and the woman stands a good chance of dying if it is not aborted... so... no baby, dead woman, but the doctor can't help her unless he/she's good with maybe being thrown in jail for performing an abortion. There are lots of things that go wrong in pregnancies that result in them not being viable andneeding to be aborted.
Should a 4th grade girl who is raped and impregnated be forced to carry her attackers baby to term? Forced to raise it? Would you approve a 10 year old girl to adopt and raise a child? (no, because that's illegal)
Bottom line: Republicans are invading the privacy between a doctor and his patient and telling the doctor that certain remedies are NOT available to him under pain of prosecution, even if it is the best remedy. Even if it is the ONLY remedy that will save the patients life.
The doctor is the expert and it is the woman'sown body.
Government and religion both should have no say in this PRIVATE matter.

Right, I'm not saying anything bad about your statement at all... just throwing my 2 cents as to why it's so hypercharged right now... some of the laws that are being passed right now are more stringent than even the map you posted. Here in Texas we have doctors AFRAID to remove a miscarried fetus that is already dead. They're afraid of being prosecuted. Women are afraid of being prosecuted for miscarrying. At least one has said she wants to have a baby but has had these kinds of medical difficulties and is afraid of what will happenif she miscarries with these current laws. She intends to be sterilized ... These people are going overboard.

Most people today were born after Roe V. Wade was forced upon us and have never lived in a country where the right to life was respected and protected.

Instead they grew up in schools and media loudly proclaiming the opposite that babies are not entitled to life and can be killed to avoid inconvenient for the mother along with the usual red hearing excuses which don't apply almost anywhere even then.

If you dig into the details where you explain what actually happens support for abortion falls apart.

But the language and cultural idea which has throws out the baby as a human being has to be overcome with these details for theses people to understand what they are actually doing

Society. There was a time when abortion had a stigma and was unthinkable. It has since been reduced to the seriousness of a teeth cleaning. If you look at the data the amount of legal abortions crested in 1990. There actually almost half as many abortions being performed now (source: pew research). In my estimation it's because society is significantly more open about sex than it was 30 years ago. Women are more likely to talk about it. This is both good and bad. Yes it increases the rate of healthy sex practices through contraception and whatnot. But it also reduces any moral implications. As a result those who are both pro-choice, and those who are pro-life have both doubled down on their positions.

The Democrats voter base was calling for $15minwage, student debt forgiveness, andfree healthcare, so the democrats let abortion get out on the chopping block to shift their voters away from economic policy change to social issues change. The democrats have had multiple opportunities to codify Roe into the constitution since the 70’s but didn’t, because it’s a valuable political football that doesn’t affect corporations or rich people which is the voter base they actually care about.
