I’m seeing a whole lot of people terrified of change, worshipping a pathologically lying, racist, failed businessman who started a cult and basically freed closeted racists by validating their beliefs. This started a wave of a bunch of bigoted conservatives (Bigot isn’t always racial, and not being used about race in this context) who basically call any kind of truth an opinion or a lie, then assert real lies as the truth. You want serious firepower, and you’re pro life? I’ll believe you’re pro life when you regulate guns the way you regulate women’s bodies. Acknowledging social injustice is now something to be ashamed by to them. Disinformation is a tactic used WIDELY by the right party. Look at Fox News even. They got sued for false information, their defense was “Fox news is only the name, we are not a news channel, we are an entertainment channel.” Like jesus, I get Biden is old and senile, but this orange baboon is just a mentally ill 13 year old in a 70 something year old’s body. You want to paint BLM as terrorist when 93% of their protests were peaceful, yet you deny the violence of January 6th when there’s footage of cops being beaten and one killed. Another one died from a stroke. A man was arrested with a gun admitting he wanted to kill Peloski. They were chanting hang Pence. Trump’s daughter said “Stop, people are going to die” and he didn’t stop. He spread around election fraud claims which were untrue. He called Biden a chinese implant even though there’s no evidence of it, but there’s evidence of Russia rigging the election for Trump.
+1 yThe government stepping back from overreach is "government overreach". Doubling an organization's funding is "destroying the organization". Women's rights are sacrosanct; men's a luxury, but gender is fluid, and can be changed on a whim. Fossil fuel consumption is terrible for the environment, but having a viable alternative isn't required. Discrimination on the basis of race or sex is unacceptable, unless it's against white men. Isolating and hiding everyone from a virus will make it "go away", even though it (ostensibly) jumped to humanity from a population of bats.
This is the logic of the people who'd have us believe that:
-The man who spearheaded a worldwide initiative to decriminalize homosexuality and appointed the first openly gay cabinet member is a raging homophobe.
-The man who negotiated four historic peace agreements and managed to avoid having to go to war against a NATO ally is a warmonger.
-The man who increased funding for black colleges and universities and locked it in for ten years hates black people.
-The man who created opportunity zones to aid distressed communities hates minorities.
-The man who championed school choice hates the poor.
-The man who presided over the biggest three-year increase in median household earnings in DECADES hates the middle class.
-The man who reopened the Iron Range and created hundreds of thousands of high-paying resource jobs hates the working class.
-The man who began closing the "wealth gap" is only in it for his own financial gain.
-The man who reduced our dependence on "Communist" China and stood up for Hong Kong hates democracy.
-The first man whose net worth went DOWN while he was President is a greedy fat cat.
-The man who implemented race-blind prison and criminal justice reform is a racist sociopath.
-The man with the highest-ever level of small donations to his campaign, who funded much of it with his own money, is a Wall Street shill.
-The man who didn't take a salary as President is not paying his fair share.
-The man who moved the US embassy to Jerusalem and encouraged his daughter to convert to Judaism so she could marry a Jew is a Nazi.
-The man who followed the Constitution and let the states set their own Covid policies "failed" on Covid.
-The man who presided over the single biggest quarterly increase in GDP in American history is destroying the economy.
-The man who has tolerated the most negative and dishonest media campaign in American history and yet made himself open to the media is a fascist.
-The man who told his supporters to vote in person so there'd be no cheating is trying to steal the election.
-The man who wanted to take his case to court and let the courts decide is a dictator.Brother, if the conservatives have gotten more extreme, what the hell do you call what the liberals have done?

No. The conservative movement hasn't moved hardly at all from its historic stances, although one significant trend is that it is shifting priorities from taxation and foreign affairs to predominantly domestic/cultural issues. This is largely a reactionary shift, and it has created rifts in an already incohesive party, particularly between the "America-First" or nationalists (like Trump, DeSantis, Hawley, and Cruz), and the corporatists and warhawks, or globalists (the Bushes, Cheney, McConnell, and Graham).
The Republicans especially after Reagan have generally been very passive if not insincere with their platform, acting as little more than a temporary brake in national trends between democratic administrations. Trump didn't necessarily end that mindset, but he proved to the voters that even a fairly moderate but proactive administration that actually addresses rather than ignores issues can be a huge improvement to the bulk of the voterbase. More importantly for the future, he raised the bar of expectations to the point that almost all Republicans who've been slipping under the radar for decades are now forced to put their money where their mouth is. This is especially true with the overturning of Roe V. Wade. Prior to that point, a conservative could proclaim themselves to be staunch anti-abortionists without actually having to do anything because it was out of their hands. Now that abortion is back to being a state issue, it turns out that a lot of them have enjoyed collecting a paycheck and receiving campaign funds from pro life groups and other major benefactors without having to do much.

Your still presuming what you are told conveniently matching your own chosen party line is true, when in fact there is little evidence either of us is hearing the entire truth.
Instead all we have to trust is the results we can see with our own eyes. Hence why voting with your feet is soo important, for that vote alone is most motivated by said truth.

1.1K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Both parties are getting more extreme. Also any criticism you have for one side can also be leveled at the party you support. Because the end goal of the party based political crap that you are feeding into is to keep the majority of people divided, distracted and fighting against each other. Corporate America, Wall Street, the big banks and anyone rich enough to buy their way in are the ones that have the power. It's not hard to see when it's not uncommon for politicians on both sides to retire from office and take consulting jobs at investment firms.

+1 yI would say that the left is getting more degenerate by the day and the right is getting fed up with the left constantly attacking their freedoms, so they are taking away the left's freedoms. I can understand both sides viewpoints but until they stop attacking each other and make peace the divide will grow. My parents were democrat/republican so it made for interesting breakfast conversations. All of society should be like that. The left thinks everyone thinks the way they do, and the right thinks the left is either emotional thinkers/illogical or in some cases insane. Whatever the case may be, logic is the last thing used in politics these days.

Both sides are drifting in separate worlds of information due to a lack of common form to equally debate. We cannot see each other or really beyond such information bubble but we can see our past what was written down.
There of course is the only means by which we can judge extremism in policy distance from said past.
Anonymous(36-45)+1 yI take it you believe everything your told by MSNBC to suit the party line.
Its all lies and half truths on both sides, with no common forum there is no place for a debate to establish any kind of common set of believes.
So we are headed in completely different directions and ultimately towards compete separation or civil war if that should not be tolerated by the other side.

Yeah. Those Republicans sure are getting crazy. 🙄

So attempting to assassinate government officials and storming a government building resulting in police injuries and death is sane?
- +1 y
@blissinanarchy1 You do understand that we don't have grounds to believe those charges have any particular merit? There is no trust in your words nor your charges not after Russia Gate lies, its quite obvious to half the country that nothing said is true. Its just political propaganda for political proposes.
Indeed its becoming increasingly clear this fact is true of both sides, and thus we really don't trust even our own broadcasters.
The only difference is having so much more broad acceptance with the idea of Media lies, and experience a great many more of us are aware we are being lied to and accustomed to the extent it is possible of seeing thou the lies to decern what little can be known.
Ultimately all we can know is what little we see with our own eyes in the world immediately around us.
To the extent that lines up with what we are told in media we know there may be some truth. The rest is leaning on history in terms of objective things like partiuclar policy changes to judge who is the most extreme.
4.6K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. I'm always shocked when people focus on conservatives when the left has completely lost its mind. Conservatives are not anywhere near as bad as the Bush year ms version but people on the left have really departed from liberalism into these identity politics that are frankly very bigoted themselves.

10 Reply Both parties are getting more extreme in their particular direction right/left. The democrats are about half a step from being just like Nazi Germany. Except they don’t want to kill jews, they want to kill conservatives.

- +1 y
Well the US doesn't have a conservative party they have the republican party so don't blame me for not knowing what the hell you're talking about lol
- +1 y
Are you outside the US? Democrats and Republicans are the big name that’s like an umbrella. Liberals, conservatives, progressives, etc, all align themselves with Democrat or Republican. In America, Conservatism is right wing and typically votes Republican, and Liberalism is Left wing and typically vote democrat. I believe the wing roles are reversed in the rest of the world. The unity in “Democrat” and “republican” brings these factions together so that a faction that is likeminded but not perfectly the same, has a higher chance of winning than a representative running as his faction alone.
- +1 y
I’m going to over simplify it for the sake of clear communication. Let’s say you love weapons. You think citizens should have easy access to rocket launchers, and weaponized drones. Now there is another guy who believes rocket launchers and weaponized drones are too far, but he has no problem with automatic weapons. Now, yet another guy, thinks that that yet is still too far, but is okay with semi automatic rifles with high capacity magazines. Although you disagree amongst yourselves, you all have the mutual disagreement with this faction that dislikes weapons and would outlaw every one. In order to increase the likelyhood that one of you, you compromise amongst yourself and unite under one group with the sole intention of making sure the factions with highly contradictory opinions can’t win. That’s where conservatives vote Republican, that being the unification of disagreeing but like minded factions. Now, left with no mutual opposition, the bigger unification (Republicans, democrats) would collapse if the opposing group disappeared. So those smaller factions that compromised and became one group, would now be left to oppose eachother, and the same thing would happen. More splinter groups form one larger group in to increase likely hood someone with closer beliefs win. Over time these groups start getting more extreme in their differences. We have Republicans and Democrats as two different groups today, but they started off as one political Party. The Democrat-Republican party.

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yYes, the cult has become very dangerous, and their followers are mostly deranged.
04 Reply- +1 y
Both sides are rather dangerous and unable to communicate with the other. Every day we diverge more and more for that reason leading inevitably to the fact that we can no longer share a government.
If There is no common form open to all equally to debate said ideas, there will be separate forms driving separate cultures. Thus what we have is the result of the inability to communicate honestly and recognize the reasons behind differences. All we have is our own worlds both of which are filled with lies.
The only thing you can trust is the results you see with your own eyes around you, which is why voting with your feet is soo important for that form of voting alone is most motivated by said personal experience. - +1 y

But not in the ways you think...02 Reply- +1 y
Conservatives are getting a little more informed and aware of history and themselfs. Something not possible before the modern age due to information being so tightly controlled by the other side.
Both side however are being driven by lies. If you want to measure extremism thou the only possible way is to judge the distance of policy drift from past policy. As we cannot see around us but we can see behind in history.
