I don’t think she’s the one calling for the American government to get her out, that’s more just public opinion. I don’t have any animosity towards her, not that I would anyway. I love weed, and I hate prisons, so this just offends me in principle.
These are also just stupid political chess matches. We have Russians jailed here too, so they’d love to get a high (-ish) profile American to trade. There were already talks of exchanging Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout for the other guy involved in this, Paul Whelan, who is sentenced to 16 years on an espionage charge. According to his family, Whelan was told of this intent for a prisoner swap for one or more of some Russians jailed in America: Bout, a guy named Roman Seleznev, or another dude, Konstantin Yaroshenko, who has already since been swapped for American Trevor Reed, so Griner isn’t the first person to be in this situation. You hardly heard any of this stuff until it involved a 6’10 black lesbian who dudes don’t want to fuck, then all of a sudden it’s a big problem and heinous that we’d trade her (and only she gets mentioned, no one seems to talk about Whelan) for a “monster” like Viktor Bout, as if Russian arms dealing just shut down entirely upon his arrest, just lmao. Also important to note that a lot of this is just another thing for the right wing to bash Biden about So, I mean, whatever, I don’t know much about Brittney Griner, I actually heard about her more when she was still playing in college at Baylor, I don’t follow the WNBA. Fair to say she fucked up, but also fair to say it’s fucked up to catch a nine year bid in a foreign country over some cannabis oil
No we shouldn't. The simple truth is that too many people in today's society have zero scene personal responsibility and one of the main reasons is because people where raised with hardly any consequences for their behavior. It's past time that was changed and no rescuing her can start a needed shift in American society. It's past time where people are forced to deal the consequences for their behavior and force them to take personal responsibility. Forcing her to deal with the consequences for their behavior by not rescuing her is a good place to start for forcing a needed change.
I would never attempt to smuggle any cannabis product to another state, let alone another nation. She knew that she was taking a risk, and now she is paying the price. If I decided to take that risk, I would not expect to be bailed out. There are plenty of Americans who are locked up abroad for committing crimes, and she happens to be a famous and wealthy one. Her status, fame, and wealth do not make her above international law.
Now I feel for her, this must be absolutely horrible. But she had to know that she was taking a risk, when she packed her bags for the flight. She is not a person who is smuggling drugs because she is poor, she smuggled an illegal narcotic for recreational use. That is insane to me. I would never risk what I have for something so unimportant, but maybe she has formed a dependence, and no one in her life confronted her about it.
If she were in Indonesia or Thailand or many other countries, this could have been worse.

If we really are a country then we have to have her back. Now if she gets arrested in the USA. F her. But we're not about to let some other country treat one of ours like that. It's not like she is some innocent victim kidnapped by Russians. She broke the law of the land and was punished according to that law. The ONLY reason this is even a big deal is because she has some level of fame.
Think of it this way. If someone breaks into your home and tries to take stuff from you, you do not just let them do it. You would either call the cops or deal with it yourself. If someone breaks the rules of your home, you do not welcome that conduct.
Same with Grinder. She basically carried a substance that is illegal in Russia on Russian soil. Nobody cares if it was for medical purposes. Remember, California and other liberal states are out of touch with reality, but that does not mean the rest of the world will just pander to them. What is allowed in libtard states is not always allowed elsewhere. She broke the law and now has to do her time.
Brittney Grinder needs to be released as soon as possible because the Russian laws are terrible and with the War going on in Ukraine, the Russian government will torture her and the other American as an example because they don't like Americans plus the US is helping the Ukraine President against the Russian military which President Vladimir Putin does not like. Brittney should have never went over there especially during the War, considered the fact that other countries including the US have pulled all types of events, foreign affairs, and businesses that were associated with Russia.
First I've heard of her, so should the US government bail out failed criminals? No, if you bail out one criminal, don't you then have to bail out others? And then where do you stop?
Pay to set Griner free? No, not a chance.
Exchange a minor Russian offender for Griner? Sure.

How many of these people actually believe they SHOULDN'T? Remember our own country had Jim Crow and punished Black people for being in White people's spaces. Russia punished her for criticizing Putin and simply because she is lesbian. (Russia is very well-known for its anti-LGBTQ policies.)
Harris is a hypocrite, she's campaigning to free Frinder after she as AG locked up many people of color for the same thing. I'd fully support the release of Grinder if Biden and Harris campaigned for the release of all Americans in prison for minor drug violations, but nope, you have to be rich and famous.
i don't give a f*ck about her. We still have January 6th prisoners locked up in our OWN country, being treated like war criminals and 2nd class citizens.
