I actually voted today for the first time as for only within Sweden! š
There's an easy way to answer this question.
Since persons who do science - like Mr. Spock of Star Trek - are logical objective thinkers, ask yourself:
"Which political party or ideological affiliation are most scientists?"
The answer is given to us by Pew Research, part of the Pew Charitable Trusts and is the nonpartisan, nonprofit, nongovernmental organization (NGO) famous for polling for the sake of informing society for policy decisions.

PUBLIC PRAISES SCIENCE; SCIENTISTS FAULT PUBLIC, MEDIASection 4: Scientists, Politics and Religion
...
Most scientists identify as Democrats (55%), while 32% identify as independents and just 6% say they are Republicans. When the leanings of independents are considered, fully 81% identify as Democrats or lean to the Democratic Party, compared with 12% who either identify as Republicans or lean toward the GOP. Among the public, there are far fewer self-described Democrats (35%) and far more Republicans (23%). Overall, 52% of the public identifies as Democratic or leans Democratic, while 35% identifies as Republican or leans Republican.

There you go. That's the answer to your question.
>>>>> The most logical people on Earth are 81% Democrat or "lean Democratic"
>>>>> Only 12% are Republican or "lean Republican".So, why is that? Why is it that the most logical and rigorous thinkers on Earth have a tendency to overwhelmingly support Democrats?
Being a cynic, one might think "You don't bite the hand that feeds." and a lot of scientific research is driven by the government and Democrats will spend more on research than the GOP will. There is definitely some truth to that - you vote for who is in your best interests.
But the dominant reason is that scientific and other similarly mentally rigorous persons understand cause-and-effect and how Nature and logic and mathematics are completely objective and do not care for our health, safety, and welfare. Like many Democrats, these people want what is best for the survival of our world and species and realize that genuine problems exist - the ones that the GOP denies or inconveniently blows off until it becomes much worse.

If you are asking specifically about the United States, their two party system doesnāt make too much sense to me. I know there were times it obviously worked better than today, but this constant slow grind to achieve something positive for their people seems highly inefficient to me.
Myself, I have always been interested in a mixture of conservative and progressive ideas. Our two major parties center-left SPD and center-right CDU represent many of these, for people wanting to vote more specifically on certain policies, there are five smaller parties available in federal and state parliaments.
I'm an Independent, but Republicans tend to be more practical and logical, whereas, liberals rule solely with their emotions which leads to big problems; even if they have valid talking points. Republicans can be the opposite and rule with authoritarianism (e. g. wiping out abortion rights for incest and rape victims...). cruel, unethical, disgusting, non of their buisness, and perverse.
The balance in the middle, leaning to any side is just truble, the middle is in the end the best and partys are made to try and balance it

Voted Republican, but the premise of the question is a bit of an oversimplification.
Actually, it varies over time, by region of the country and a host of other factors. It being the case that American political parties are not ideological parties as you tend to see in Europe. Rather they are lose knit coalitions of regional, religious, ethnic, racial, income and other groups that have come together in part by common interests and in part by historical accident.
In the case of the GOP, it is a coalition made up of classical liberals - which Americans call conservatives, libertarians, small and medium sized business, religious and social traditionalists, lower middle and upper middle income earners, farmers, rural and exurban populations, older voters, the South, the Great Plains, the Rocky Mountain West and the state of Alaska, to name the most prominent groups.
On the Democratic side you get, ethnic and religious minorities, middle and high income wage earners, big business and entertainment industries, urban and inner suburban votes, radical liberals - which Americans call liberals. (Note, the term "radical" here does not mean as Americans use it, i. e. "extremist," but rather as the ancient Greeks used the term, meaning "to the root of.") The northeast, the mid-Atlantic, the Pacific coast and the state of Hawaii.
This is how you get a Republican Party that runs from Ted Cruz at one end to Susan Collin at the other. This is how you get a Democratic Party that runs from Joe Manchin at one end to Elizabeth Warren at the other.
Quite simply, party identification is not about ideological identity. It is about where in the country is being discussed, about class and racial breakdowns and much else.
Indeed, even this is changing. The description I provided of the parties above is already in transition - and indeed, this is part of the reason why politics is so chaotic at the moment.
The lower middle class blue collar voters that are now at the heart of the Trump coalition were, until VERY recently, the heart and soul of the Democratic party. The party of the "working man" and the New Deal. Now, the higher the income level, the more likely the person voted Democrat.
Ditto with age. In the 1980s, the 18 to 25 year old demographic was Reagan's best. The 65 and older set, his worst. Now it is completely the reverse, and even then, the elderly seem less enthralled with Trump than they were four years ago. Though still generally more favorable than their 18 to 25 year old children.
In terms of regions. As late as the early 1960s, the "Solid South" was solidly Democratic. Then it became solidly Republican, and now states like Virginia, Georgia and North Carolina are sometimes even battleground states. Ditto, states like Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin - once so solidly blue collar Democrat look set to tilt GOP.
Indeed, fun fact, over 400 counties that voted twice for Mr. Obama switched in the space of one four year period, to vote for Mr. Trump. Thus to this day that Mrs. Clinton is careening about the country explaining to anyone who will listen why she really won - or not - in 2016.
The differences then vary. In West Virginia, Democrats are the old blue collar coalition. Working the mines, church going, traditional and patriotic. In New York, they are quite liberal, likely racial or religious minorities - though not likely very likely to practice their religion through regular attendance at weekly services - and more likely to work in the tech or service sector.
CONT.
Neither.
Democrats scream the world is coming to the end because 100% of white people are racist, and the Republicans are trying to conquer america and destroy it.
Republicans scream god trump, the liberals are trying to destroy America and black people are trying to destroy white people.
Let's be honest all they are doing is distracting their voters to hate the other party so much that they don't notice all the dirty shady moves their own party is doing to them.
Divide the country so we can run free and make ourselves richer while we make our voters dumber and poorer.
Both parties follow this same scare tactic campaign and just tell their voters what they want to hear.
Over and over again politicians from both parties have screamed loud and proud about how much they hate polices from the other party.
When they get found out that they are doing the exact thing they swore they would never do, the other party voters goes on a social media tirade, while the voters of that same party will defend them with everything they got.
Why?
They have been trained to be obedient to their party no matter what.
Now we got a country full of crooked politicians doing whatever they want because their voters will still vote for them because they don't wanna be a traitor to their party. 0 accountability.
It's sad the best this country could off for last election
Trump vs Biden. That is really concerning about American politics.
An egotistical clown show who can't make a decision without letting emotions get in the way, vs a career racist politican with historically racist polices and hardly any accomplishments.
But both parties will defends these 2 poor excuses for a president because their party says they should.
I'm probably 60% Republican 40% Democrat in my views. I tend to have Republican ideals. It's not that I don't ever agree with democrats. It's that I feel Democrat ideology promotes laziness. But conversely you could say Republican ideology supports non regulation. And complete non regulation is not good either, hence my position. I consider myself mostly Republican because I tend to think pretty conservatively and I believe in very small gov't. I believe gov't exists as it says in the Constitution "to promote the general welfare". Not "give people welfare". I believe gov't's only real role is to Regulate when the free market is unable or unwilling to regulate itself.
Just now? I thought it was mandatory in Sweden. How old do you have to be to vote there?
Anyways, Republicans by far. I've noticed that Conservative brains are more analytical and observant. They tend to notice patterns better and they are better at analyzing potentially dangerous situations.
While Liberal brains are more empathetic, and they want to just blindly help and trust everyone without considering the potential risks. They don't look at the full picture of why things are the way they are they just want to fix what they think is the problem.
Want to hear something illogical?
The democrat governor of California passed a law making it illegal to sell gas powered cars in the state by 2035. He wants only electric cars.
Now he was on TV asking people to not charge electric cars because the power grid can't handle it and the state is having brownouts in some places from lack of electricity.
On the one hand, the Republicans have evolved into something truly hateful and sinister, and I will NEVER vote for a Republican. On the other hand, the Democrats seem to wander around in eight directions with their head up their ass. They just keep expanding the government's spending and power. The DARE program (as an example) fails spectacularly, so instead of scrapping the program, the Democrats expand it's budget, and declare victory. As dumb as the Democrats can be, I still prefer them over what the Republicans have turned into.
It's a uniparty system. All the world is a stage, they are both awful.
Both parties support neo-feudalism, and are all friends after hours.
With that being said, what a Conservative/Libertarian is supposed to be makes more sense if you believe they are genuine. Printing $ like it's water has resulted in crazy inflation, and I have said this would happen for years.
Lower taxes worked, as does less government intervention. Trump was a weirdo but the economics worked as his staff did what they were supposed to do. We had energy independence, and did not ruin our economy for the sake of environmentalism that cannot be reversed. If the world shut off all CO2 today climate change would not be any different, nor will it kill us all and be the end of the world.
Still, it's all smoke and mirrors they are both bastards.
"More" Logical: Republicans.
Actually logical, intelligent, and rational-thinking: Neither one.
every time democrats have been in office, things go to shit real fast... it's really unfortunate that we have another few years with biden...
i choose republicans, they are better to have in office. way better.
Democrats say that by printing more money will help fix inflation, the very definition of illogic.
There was a time in this country when Democrats was easily seen as head and shoulder above a Republican or conservatives intellectually as conservatives are often viewed as least educated, fear of change and generally stupid individuals.
Now, both of the Democrat and Republican party is filled with stupid people.
You literally hear them both talk enough and you would laugh.
Libertarian by a long margin then classical Liberalism. Republican is ok at best. Democratic party was formed by people that didn't believe the Civil War was over, and we are a constitutional republic, not a democracy, so it serves no purpose.
As someone who was once a Democratic voter and now am more Republican I can honestly, objectively say.
That given all the past events and policies that DEFINITELY Republicans have more logical common sense.
Thatās all Iāll sayI vote for the individual candidate that I prefer, regardless of party.
I forgot you have elections today. Wish you interesting results
One party is filled with spineless all bark and no bite individuals. The other is a bunch of spoiled, whiny, authoritative grown brats.
So neither.
I prefer Democrat (though Iām not quite old enough to vote yet) but Republicans make some good points too.
*looks for all the MAGA Minions come running*
Come on...
dems... for now. I don't advocate for either side... just observation. my faith warns us to stay neutral. besides, look at how each party was in the past... both were vastly different.
