In the US, we always honot past leaders on their birthdays, not the anniversaries of their deaths. George Washigton's birthday, Abraham Lincoln's birthday (now combined into President's Day,) and MLK Day are the current holidays set aside to emember past leaders.
Here in the United Kingdom, when events happen and require an extra day in the holiday calendar, it’s usually classed as a Bank Holiday. Like when we had the Platinum Jubilee for Majesty, we had an extra days holiday. King Charles himself said it would be a Bank Holiday so people can pay their respects and be able to watch the State Funeral. So in this instance, if the King is okay with it, then yes let be a holiday.
I think I was more shocked than anything. Yes I had a sad moment but we gotta move on. And no more vloody bank Holidays!
