How was your talk about reparations for slavery in the United States a lot of people don’t know that it wasn’t only blacks that were enslaved. But the Russians brought Nordic no Swedish slaves over the Alaska many escaped from Alaska in small life boats and sailed south to the Washington and Oregon territory my ancestors and even my self have stayed in the Pacific Northwest sense they were enslaved. So why aren’t we talking about reparations for both descendants of white slaves which were enslaved by the Russians before the United States bought the Alaskan territory and reparations for black slaves which were primarily on the East Coast. It would be racist to give blacks reparations for there ancestors being enslaved and not the descendants of the Swedes and the Nords for there ancestors being enslaved so ultimately there are I guess 5 questions that need to be answered. 1 who’s going to pay for the reparations? 2 is it going to be the United States or are you going to force Russia to pay us white folks who are descendants of people who are enslaved by the Russians? 3 how are they going to do that? If we are to Forrest Russia to pay the ancestors of the Nordic and Swedish slaves. 4 who’s going to pay for it? 5 are we going to continue the cycle of what the Democrats like to call systemic racism and deny the ancestors of Russian slaves but give reparations for those who were enslaved by the Anglican‘s?

+1 ydoubt it, I'm still waiting for the Mongolians to payup for what htey did to my ancestors. Look what reparations did to the world for WWI... it created WWII.
It is very frustrating dealing with unfairness, cheating, lying and robbery. One wants fairness... it's hard to get in this world.
my wifes family came here 50 years ago with nothing, poor farmers and a clean slate. They are all now extremely well off and successful. If people ahve problems with the past, maybe they should leave and come back... with a fresh start. it's easier.
would it be better if they apologized and payed homage to the history, and showed you respect? that we may be able to get.

+1 yEvery civilization that exists today had ancestors who owned slaves. There is no getting around it so the argument can be put to rest. Thomas Sowell talks at length and often about this in his prolific career. If anybody owes reparations everybody owes reparations which cancel each other out. I realize that this is going to be unpopular amongst people who have made a lot of money or power or prestige either race hustling race baiting or race pandering, but it is what it is.

How much reparations do the Africans who captured and sold the slaves have to pay?
- +1 y
@joeldalton What restorations exactly are you paying that you are so upset about?
- +1 y
Who captured and enslaved those Africans @Subarugirl?
- +1 y
@Subarugirl So you’re anti reparations?
- +1 y
@joeldalton since apparently you didn’t comprehend the question I ask earlier I’ll ask again. Which reparations exactly are you so upset about paying l?
- +1 y
@Subarugirl apparently you didn’t comprehend the question I asked. Are you for reparations for slavery or not?
- +1 y
@joeldalton I’m for reparations for the systematic oppression of a minority of people based on racism.
- +1 y
That's still not answering my question. Are you for reparations for slavery?
- +1 y
@joeldalton If the slavery was due to the systematic oppression of a minority based on racism, yes.
- +1 y
@joeldalton I did answer you just don't like the answer, what reparations are you talking about?
- +1 y
@Subarugirl I am sorry you're getting so confused. I specifically asked if you were 'for' or 'opposed' to paying reparations to black people for slavery. You answered a different question. Hopefully, that clears it up for you.
- +1 y
@joeldalton actually no you didn't, you said " Are you for reparations for slavery or not?"
to which I answered, "If the slavery was due to the systematic oppression of a minority based on racism, yes."
But you continually refuse to answer specifically what reparations...
- +1 y
you didn't answer that. holy shit... do you think everyone's going to believe your bullshit? Ok, so since it was Africans enslaving Africans, by definition there's no need for reparations since it couldn't have been done with racist intent.
- +1 y
@joeldalton If you want a more specific answer, ask a more specific question. As hard as you are pushing, and as much as you would like it to be, this is not a black and white issue.
- +1 y
I asked you a very specific question which you evaded. It was really simple. Are you for paying reparations to those whose ancestors were slaves?
- +1 y
@joeldalton If the slavery was due to the systematic oppression of a minority based on racism, yes am all for that system paying appropriate reparations... since apparently you don't understand what that means, that is a conditional yes.
- +1 y
@Subarugirl so then that excludes the Atlantic slave trade by your definition.
- +1 y
@joeldalton The Atlantic slave trade involved the transportation by slave traders of enslaved African people, mainly to the Americas, and existed from the 16th to the 19th centuries. So since it no longer exists, it would be impossible
- +1 y
So where do you see this slavery based on racism in 2022?
- +1 y
@joeldalton Primarily in human trafficking
- +1 y
like where? The mexicans bringing over other Mexicans illegally over the US border?
- +1 y
@joeldalton Every where, it exists globally... Canada, United states, Interstate 5 that runs from Canada to Mexico is one of the most prominent human trafficking corridors in the United states.
It is estimated that between 15,000 to 50,000 women and children are forced into sexual slavery in the United States every year, and the total number varies wildly as it is very difficult to research. One study from the Department of Health and Human Services estimated the number between 240,000 and 325,000, while a report from the University of Pennsylvania put it at between 100,000 and 300,000.
There are many ways in which women and children are trafficked. (Note: males are indeed sometimes used in sex trafficking, but are much more commonly found trafficked in labor markets.) Some of the ways females are trafficked include pimp-controlled trafficking, in which a single person controls the victim physically, psychologically, or emotionally; gang trafficking, in which a victim is controlled by more than one person, and may be abused by the gang members or prostituted out by the gang; survival sex, where the victim feels they are not able to escape and must perform sex acts in order to survive; familial trafficking, in which the victim is abused and controlled by their family members; and forced marriages. - +1 y
well none of that is for racial reasons so I guess no reparations.
- +1 y
@joeldalton except for those in the market for people of a specific race... research shows us that African-Americans and other people of color show a higher vulnerability to human trafficking.
- +1 y
What is the race of those in the market? Might be worth looking into that.
- +1 y
@joeldalton all races
- +1 y
So is it only racist human trafficking if a white guy fucks a minority woman? Or how does that work? Is it still slavery if a black guy fucks a minority woman brought illegally in the country?
- +1 y
@joeldalton Its slavery regardless. that why its called sex slavery and human trafficking.
- +1 y
Then I guess your original assertion that they were enslaved just for the color of their skin is at best misinformed.

00 ReplyWho captured them? Who bought them? Who shipped them from one continent to another? And finally who bought them as property?
03 Reply- +1 y
Who captures them Russians who bought them Russians who shut them to one continent to the other Russians.
So that leaves a few questions should the United States force Russia to pay reparations to the slaves they captured bought and sold and shipped overseas? How are they going to do that? Russia can’t even fight a war against Ukraine without threatening a tactical nuke shows how weak the Russian army is clearly. But does the United States want to go to war against Russia? The Ukraine debacle, no that would be the answer. But are we going to go to war against Great Britain or most African countries because they originally sold slaves to British and American traders no. So that leaves the United States government to pay for both white and black slaves reparations or we drop the issue entirely. - +1 y
well we all know those countries won't pay reparations, the united states has offered reparations for the descendants of slaves why not include white folks who were brought over by Russians, why should the descendants of slaves have to pay reparations to descendants of slaves? we would be paying reparations through paying taxes

18.6K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Did the United States of America enslave your ancestors?
I would have to look into your weird nordic slave trade claims….02 Reply- +1 y
yea its kinda of a interesting fact about Pacific Northwest history. it wasn't necessarily a trade it was more like the Russian's under peter the great took over Finland Sweden and Norway and forced them to go to alaska in order to work in the coal mines and other resource gathering. so it wasn't exactly a trade like we think about what the anglo-Saxons, France dutch and latinos did, instead of handing us money why not just have a card that says we dont have to pay any kind of tax for the rest of our lives.
(honestly i'm kinda trolling but there were Finish nordic and Swedish slaves brought to alaska when it was owner by the Russian empire. since im from washington state we are required as high school and for those going into the field of history are required to that Pacific northwest history its mostly boring unlike east coast history but hell we sparked a small war with the British over a dead pig

@Subarugirl have you ever heard of American chattel slavery which the irish were never slaves so shut the fuck up.
- +1 y
I guess you haven't heard of human trafficking and sex slavery
- +1 y
you should probably look into that, I think you would be surprised about how modern day slavery still exists.
- +1 y
@Subarugirl since you don't care about slavery then you are probably one of those racist white people who refuse to pay reparations but are not racist, right?
- +1 y

I do care, and it still exists unfortunately.
What exactly do you mean by reparations specifically? Because to make reparations means to repair something. - +1 y
@Subarugirl clearly you don't care that thousands of slaves from Africa were kidnapped and sold into American slavery so quit playing willfully ignorant you troll.
- +1 y
Of course I care! And it’s still happening… but I’m more concerned with it happening now that I am about it happening generations ago. It doesn’t make it any less worse, it’s still horrendous but all of those people are dead now and there are people who are still alive being bought and sold now
- +1 y
@Subarugirl no you don't care, just admit you are racist but we all know you will start with them white tears and divert the conversation like a usual Karen.
- +1 y
Fuck off dude Im Jewish

@Subarugirl Jewish is white, and here comes the Karen routine.
