Should people go to prison for extreme slander/libel?

By extreme slander/libel, imagine you're a man (or lesbian) and someone calls you a pedophile without any evidence that you had or wanted or planned to touch kids and tells people around you and find where you live to tell your neighbors and workers you touch kids and they buy into the slander/libel without substantial proof and ruins your life and reputation.

If you ask me personally, I think slander/libel in this fashion should be a life prison sentence to a white room as solitary confinement and never to see natural light, animals, colors, other human beings or even your own face ever again and lose your sanity. Pedophiles are contemptuous for obvious reasons, but in America and Canada it can be very easy to accuse someone of pedophilia ans ruin their life depending how stupid and vapid the people getting this slander are in the country.
