Everyone who supports voter id's, wold you be OK with every voter automatically being issued a voter id card free of charge?

The whole point of ID is to verify you are in fact casting only the 1 vote your entitled to.

This means verifying citizenship and unique district registration. For the most part this isn't happening in many states. They are not verifying your only registered there, some are not even verifying the address you give them actually exist as a residency much less your residency.

How are people suppose to trust said 'elections' represent the will of the people of said community if we didn't even bother to verify the voters ARE the people of said community?

Then there is Carpetbaggers who just move to a place and immediately begin telling the locals what to do before they have had a reasonable amount of time to actually learn what the local issues are.

Some states like Georgia are soo bad many people moved there for no other reason to just vote in their elections. The result was Georgia's newly elected federal representation ended up voting to send a large amount of Georgia's money to other less responsible states. States from which the key voters who elected them came and later returned.

Most people on both sides are actually fine with voter ID now. The left just balked when republicans kept getting caught on tape bragging that the intention is to discourage black people from turning out and so it would allow them to "win" elections.

Personally, I think voter ID should be issued for free at the polling place on election day. You can get it in advance too, of course, but no one can tell me a good reason that should be a requirement. The problem is when you suggest issuing voter ID for free at the polling place on election day, those few who secretly do only want voter ID in an effort to clip the margins of black voters will object, because it nullifies that scheme. And since they are really the only ones being aggressive about wanting voter ID in the first place, it dominates the conversation - no one who wants voter ID for genuine fraud concerns is also wanting to put any real effort into ensuring no eligible citizen gets turned away - and so it won't happen.

The idea is good, that it should be free to get... I don't support them automatically getting it mailed to them. As it should be picture ID (hard to get if they get it auto mailed.)

No reason that it shouldn't be free for everyone to get, but still need to go get it, prove who you are in the process, which in itself is often the complaint. They want items to prove who I am that I don't have, that will cost money to get. Often things like birth certificates, or other forms of ID they have to pay fees to get those to show they are who they are.

To be truly free then those other items would also need to be free. Then again I have no idea how these people who don't have those even get jobs, if they have no way to prove who they are to a employer.

Of course not. There is not such thing as free. Everyone that votes should pay $100 for a voters ID card; good for 4 years. Anyone that doesn't wish to pay doesn't need to vote.

I'm not sure what you mean by "voter ID." Do you mean an actual state ID, or some kind of temporary ID just for voting only?

Either way, the issue is that Democrats want to rig elections, and have illegal immigrants and dead people voting, so it has nothing to do with money or "them poor black people not being able to afford an ID, cause yadda-yadda-yadda racism, white supremacy, Trump." So nothing should be done to make election fraud even easier than it was in 2020.

I'm not going to get really deep into this subject. Just take note in the US you can't legally enter most Federal Buildings like a Courthouse W/O an ID. This same thing applies to a lot of state buildings. In about another year or so if you don't have a real ID you can't enter a military installation. You can't fly either. Almost all social services like SNAP require some form of an ID at some point. This ID thing with regard to voting is a red herring. Show me someone existing in today's society W/O an ID of some type and I will admit I am wrong!

It would HAVE to be free.

Requiring a voter ID card to vote and that card would cost the voter money is a violation of the 24th Amendment.

Specifically, someone having to spend money to acquire a voter ID card necessary to vote is a form of poll tax that they would be required to pay and that's a clear violation of the 24th Amendment.

Of course. You should also be able to fill out a voter registration on your smart phone on election day then be able to vote on top of that the same day.

As the rules right now, 17 year olds can early vote and will be counted as voters if they turn 18 by November 8th. At the same time early voters that pass away before November 8th will not be counted because of the death.

The entire voting system is self contained in its own right. So i ask what protection is provided by adding a driver's license? While the DMV conveniently let's you update your voting registration while updating your driver's license they have nothing to do with each other in terms of government roles or responsibilities.

Untill picture day in high school helps you get a "voter ID" Registration and know how and where to vote I'm calling bullshit on voter id's.

But also there should be Free ID's anyway. You need one to do anything that requires proof of age why should you have to pay for something to prove your own age? Lmao. So I don't understand why passports and stuff cannot be given by the governmental system anyway.

Yes, of course. That ship has sailed, it's no longer a working mechanism to disenfrachise Democratic voters, they've moved on to other mechanisms. How about "one drop box per county", regardless of whether a county has 57 or 4,728,030 population (yes, almost 100,000 to 1 difference), or declaring that the (Republican, natch) legislature has the right to choose whether to accept an election result or not, without judicial approval.

Gov provided ID and Registration for voting with selective service or any other 18 year old paperwork. At death all that is voided. Election Holiday so people can vote without hassle. End gerrymandering in a serious way. Basically remove the bits of the process that are laughable at this point.

1) there’s no need for them. Elections are secure. People saying different don’t have evidence and are mad their guy didn’t win.
2) “free voter ID” is impossible. Eligible voters would need some paperwork to get their free ID and the poor communities just don’t have them. So you’re hoisting loads of trouble onto the most vulnerable…again for a problem that doesn’t exist.
