I’ve been registered and I needed an address, social security, and ID number needed to match on the one from their record along with my full name. Then they gave me a polling place to go to.
I don’t know any undocumented immigrant that knows someone’s ID number for number, full name, address and social security. Hell, the Voter ID HAS that same information in there though allows the nonpartisan poll worker volunteers & employees to do their job more efficiently. Other than that, same information and no noncitizens are voting in this manner since it doesn’t exist. IF there is a non citizen that somehow gets past the poll workers, when they are checking the ballots to make sure the information matches their database they’ll see the truth and reject it.
Last time I checked, the polling place does ask for ID to ensure you are you so…. Being ‘For’ or ‘Against’ doesn’t matter since these are the rules at play and each state handles elections differently.
If you voted “against” voter ID laws it’s just because you want illegal aliens to vote so democrats can cheat the election. Period.
You need an idea to purchase alcohol, to entire an airport, to drive, etc. Seriously why the f can’t you have an ID to vote.
And for those of you claiming “racism” bs as it turns out you are the real racists because you are claiming black/brown people are just too irresponsible to have IDs which is ridiculous.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/DCytgANu010 Illegal Aliens aren't allowed to vote. It's against the law and there is literally no serious issue with this happening or causing issues.
This is the real world without bias
Lack of Evidence for Noncitizen Voting
Audits by state officials and studies from nonpartisan (and even conservative) organizations have found voter fraud by noncitizens is, as one organization described it, “exceedingly rare.” In fact, audits by several states show that there have been small numbers of noncitizens who registered to vote, often by mistake, with far fewer casting ballots. For example, while a 2022 Georgia investigation found there were 1,634 incidents of noncitizens potentially attempting to register to vote between 1997 and 2022, these individuals were all blocked until they could provide proof of citizenship (if they had naturalized, for example).

@Friendlybro79 so why is such a problem to require ID to vote?
@blueonblack22 you can Google that for yourself but I made it easy for you. You'd have to read this. I think it's important for people that believe strongly in stuff to check themselves and understand the other side of things. Read the article if you really don't know the argument to why it would suppress legitimate voters from voting. Please read the article if you'd like to further discuss. Actually I say if you want to make voter id a thing than it should be free to have a legit ID. Again read the article if you really care to be open minded. If you're not open minded then no need to discuss any further. I'm ok with that too
www.lwv.org/blog/whats-so-bad-about-voter-id-laws
Here's some other facts about voter id fraud
PDF from congress:
www.congress.gov/.../...16-JU00-20190129-SD020.pdf
In 2020 election there were 1176 cases of voter id fraud (1018 were criminally convicted). There were 158,429,631 votes in the election.
1176 ÷ 158,429,631 votes = 0.00000742285%
0.0065% is the chance of getting struck by lightning.
The amount of media attention this gets is the poorest excuse for anyone to use when they lose.
@Friendlybro79 okay i did read the entire article. Really I did. But you used “The League of Women Voters” as a source. Do you think I can trust the LWV to be non-partisan?
They did make one point I agreed with:
“people who change their last names after marriage or divorce can be ineligible to vote”.
I can see that being a problem. But there should be a method to update voter registration to include former last names.
But the whole thing about “disenfranchises” minorities is soft bigotry. It’s saying that minorities, rural people, Native Americans, etc. are more irresponsible (less likely to have IDs) so we have to treat them with kid gloves. I also didn’t like the leftist verbiage about this being ”enacted by white male legislators”. That was a lightly veiled racism accusation.
Not a bad article. But you need to be better and give me a cogent non-partisan argument on why voter ID laws are a problem. And just saying “well there have only been these many criminal convictions for voter fraud” isn’t enough either. That’s just for the people who got caught and went to trial. What about all the voter fraud that went undetected?
Also for the record I do NOT believe the 2020 election was “stolen” from Trump when it came to voter fraud.
It was definitely stolen in other ways e. g. big tech and mass media burying the Hunter Biden laptop story after being threatened by the FBI. But I don’t think there were 100s of thousands of fraudulent votes being cast for Biden back then.
But the election next is so close that I am VERY worried about election fraud. And it’s no coincidence the democrats want to bury voter ID laws because it benefits THEM. As if all the mass media and big tech censorship and propaganda isn’t enough. Google is one of Kamala’s top campaign contributors.
Hey thanks for reading it. Finding something unbiased in reality is difficult because we're human. That said it's a common response I get from the right (not sure if you lean that way to be fair) that if they hear anything left leaning verbiage, or like your take, league of women voters, can't be trusted, I find that interesting.
Are you saying women, that have for barely 100 years the right to vote, aren't understanding more than a white dude, which I am if you need to know, what it means to be excluded and considered less than? They can be biased towards ensuring equality did that ever occur?
If you want to be untrustworthy that's totally ok but have a reason to back up why you feel that way showing more than just gut feelings and more evidence proving their bias is untrustworthy.
I don't have to try to convince you by finding something that you know doesn't exist. A truly unbiased non human piece of data.
I do really appreciate your open mindedness and finding something that you can say hey I get this but not that. That's totally fair and I'm happy that you even tried to understand a different perspective. That's a big deal. Can you agree that it might be difficult for low income Americans to afford an ID? Especially older Americans who don't need to drive anymore? If so would you agree to legal IDs being free and easy to obtain with proper documents? If so that would be fair and eliminate a lot of the real world ex of why people are against it. They want all people that can vote to do so.
I would like to add voter id fraud isn't effecting elections period. 1176 cases in 2020 1018 were criminally convicted out of 158,429,631 votes.
Also Hunter Biden's laptop is a different story. What about that is there was nothing on it. It's been settled. The republicans have had 4 years with it and it led to nothing so that didn't effect anything.
Also, Trump's hush money case, would be more a reason to effect a really good conservative and religious persons vote. Someone of real family values as they claim to be wouldn't vote for a person having an affair with a porn star.
@Friendlybro79 women make up 30% of the electorate. They are also very consistent voting base.
Of course I have nothing against women voting, bring being presidential candidates, political candidates, etc. Yes I do lean right but I actually would of taken Nikki Haley over Donald Trump any day. But hell would have to freeze over before I vote Kamala Harris. And it has absolutely NOTHING to do with gender. Rather it’s completely about POLICY. While Trump’s personality can be insufferable at times he had America in very good shape economically and also had a far superior foreign policy. For me POLICY > PERSONALITY.
But anyway I appreciate you being respectful. We do need more of that in public discourse. I mean we REALLY need that. Need it bad.
Also I absolutely want every legal American to have fair access to voting. But we need to do this to effectively avoid voter fraud. And which direction do you think illegal immigrants would vote? In the direction that allows open borders and tax payer benefits for them? Or the opposite direction? How can I trust the democrats to be motivated to prevent that from happening?
Anyway good chat. Hope regardless of what happens next week with the election I hope I can maintain a friendly conversation with @Friendlybro79 👍
Oh yeah we should be able to talk this way. It's way better than getting insane over it. illegal immigrants aren't voting I think that's the biggest issue we're having. They're not allowed to vote, have laws in place for this but too many people are repeating like parrots that they are because the right is telling you.
I have also noticed most people that say they don't want Kamala's policies don't really know them. They repeat the interpretation from right wing media and misrepresent what she says constantly.
Yeah I don't think we're changing each other's minds in much but that's ok. At least it's civil lol
Oh and to answer yes if illegal immigrants were voting like mad unchecked and illegally in large masses, which they were absolutely not, they wouldn't vote for the guy calling them all rapists. I understand your point but it's not a thing that's happening.
Some might not agree with me, but I believe we should have people not only show ID, but they also need to show their legitimate voter's registration card. In my county for Alabama, you have to show ID, voter's registration, or both. If you don't have a voters registration card, you show them your ID and you're good to go. I filled out for one cause I want to show extra proof for this election. But before filling out for one, I just showed them my ID. Also, in my county they have a list of people who are ®️ to vote and if you're name is not on the list, you can not vote and you will be escorted out by the police officers, and yes they have the local police at the voting polls in my county
Voter is is very normal in the UK. Basically you take in your voter registration card and your I'd and show them to staff, they mark you down and you cast your vote. I really can't understand the controversy of that in the US, some people have said its because minorities don't have ID but that doesn't seem plausible and maybe a tad racist.
It is racist. Our leftist literally create caricatures of these black and Hispanic people that are essentially retards and would be massively marginalized by this. In the US you need an id for literally every other civic and private adult function including doctors visits, buying booze, tobacco, and thc in some states. Voting where we've had fraud historically? No issues there.
The Democrats want this in the USA because the system is majority controlled by Democrat judges throughout the big cities.
@bobby_bush_eater I thought that. I mean I can't even get into a lot of clubs because I'm under 21 (not the case in the uk).

It has to be free and as accessible voting. So why not create a new voter id at the polling place. We can't conflate our rights as conditional to any privileges. It's convenient that the dmv helps with voting while changing registrations but are in no way connected.
If we do care about our paperwork so much we should all wait in line at the post office for our daily mail. Save a lot of money on delivery's. Yet we don't because it's not a real problem. There's 1% of 1% of errors in voting because 200,000,000 are doing paperwork and statistically people aren't perfect.
Seems silly because everyone will have some form of ID already.
@Gwendoline you bring two pieces of mail to vote normally. It needs a name and address of the regulation. In the background there is a government department ROV that dosen't need photo ID like your ssn dosen't.
They are all independent bureaucratic machine. We really don't need all of them to skynet together like the 100 miles of "constitution free zone".
In the UK you are sent a voting card and yih turn up at the voting station and the voting staff check your name and address on the register. So if 3000 are on the list to vote, potentially only 3000 will vote. If your name isn't on the list you can't vote there.
@Gwendoline basically the same here. There is provisional ballot that are counted last to double check everything if a small mistake happens.
Voting somewhere close to work compared to your home is another example. The polling place dosen't have your registration papers but can get them there for the final counting.
Conservatives want these kinda votes to disappear by being intentionally obtuse.
OK, as I no longer live in the US I don't have a dog in the game but I cannot understand why the democrats are so against requiring ID to Vote, while at the same time trying to get as many 'none citizens' declared as legal as possible. Requiring ID to Vote is standard in the UK & Europe.
But then I've always considered the Democrat Party in the US and the Labour Party here in the UK to be schizophrenic must of the time, they act as though they are "The parties of the small man" while at the same time, they are personally avaricious in the extreme (see how Nancy Pelosi’s personal wealth has rocketed in her time in congress, and Tony Blair in his time in Parliament in the UK).
I'm for state ID just to shut up right wingers because they can't wrap their head around the fact that undocumented immigrants aren't actually voting because the stats from non partisan groups prove it. Also, everyone seems to know more than experts nowadays because they have feelings and it's easy to feel well I don't trust anyone except their own feelings.
Read this a few paragraphs in to see the truth about this matter. It's ok to be wrong. It's not ok to be ignorant of reality.

I should add if state ID is free to legitimately obtain
The American people are overwhelmingly for requiring ID to vote.
But the Democrat political leadership blocks every attempt the Republicans make to put that requirement in place.
There isn't any other possible explanation except that the Democrats want to encourage voter fraud. It's disgusting.
They are doing everything in their power to thwart the will of the people.
I would say if you’ve used over a certain amount of government handouts and haven’t been employed much you should also not get to vote. Voting should be reserved for those who are net contributors to the system, because obviously the takers are just gunna vote for more free shit
fk democracy though…such a joke of a system. Not like the average person makes their own decisions about anything anyway
Even though I'm currently tired of US election that is used as distraction in news worldwide. I find lack of ID could be acceptable in some banana republic but in developed countries voter registration and ID check should be obligatory.
I need an ID for just about everything I do, so for something as important as voting I have to say yes, one should be required.
I have to show an ID to get my over the counter allergy pills with the good stuff in them so they actually work.
A voter must prove who they are. Thst can be by government issued ID or by comparing signatures.
obviously for requiring id. it's not a democracy, if you don't even know if it's the vote of "the people".
well it isn't democracy either way. it's inderect oligarchy with democratically elected representants but you know what i'm trying to say.
The average person shouldn't be allowed to vote.
I support voter ID, if I need to show ID to purchase cough syrup then I should need to show ID to vote. We need to implement a national voter ID that are free of charge and can be picked up at any local DMV or post office.
A government ID. It doesn't need to be a liscence or something like that. Just an ID recgonized by the state or federal government as proof of citizenship.
In France ID is required
isn't it required in USA? Because that would be very weird
The only people agaisnt this are democrats that need to cheat to win.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yW2LpFkVfYk
Democrats just care about black people, and that's why they say that black people are too stupid to get ID.
@saraupstairs how do you watch through 1 minute of that stupidity?
@saraupstairs that was 7 years ago too. As they further showed all blacks have IDs, but even if they didn't, would you really want the votes of people who truly are too stupid to get ID?
If ID is required to vote then it needs to be accessible for ALL. Otherwise it shouldn't be required.
This is a controversy? Or is it that people want folks to have like a driver’s license/passport along with their voting cards?
In my country you have to show your ID or you can't vote.
Otherwise we'd have dead people voting
If I have to show ID to buy a gun which is a constitutional right then you better show ID to vote which isn’t
Doesn't anybody have an ID anyway? So whats the problem?
100 percent plus! You have to show ID for about everything else. Why not to vote?
If you need ID to get into a fucking Skamala concert, I MEAN... rally, why wouldn't you need one to vote?
ID Is Required In Life, Most Things We Do Require ID, Voting Should Require ID, Only Legal American Citizens Can Vote By Law, Illegals Cannot Vote, Period…
What's the argument for not requiring id to vote. Sounds like the kinda thing a political party trying to rig elections would be against.
I don’t get it, where are all the people voting without ID? I’ve never voted without ID
This is a no brainerbut, there are people with no brains. SFB, Sh! t for Brains.
I'm in favor of it.
For.
It is madness to accept no id.
For in federal elections.
For……
Without it, fraud will occur.
Without it we aren't seeing fraud when it's actually investigated. It's being alleged to happen by Republicans but nothing is showing voter id fraud. Also just make legit state IDs free. Many older people have IDs that expire and don't drive so they don't upgrade it. It's too expensive for many people. Being poor and unable to afford an ID renewal isn't good enough reason to say that is why they can't vote. Just make the damn IDs free then
100% for voter ID
For.
100% for.
