Does your country have freedom?

No not at all. We are afraid of even commenting about politics online.
This all stems from one question: What do you define as freedom?
Is freedom, freedom of responsibility? Freedom from oppressive forces or regimes? Freedom from worry? Freedom from work? Freedom from consequence? Freedom from judgement, from scrutiny? What is freedom to you?
Then, and only then, can you question if your country has freedom. What is your personal idea of freedom?
Because unfortunately, none of these definitions of quoted “true freedom” exist. Freedom is an illusion, as we are shackled to the consequences of our actions, to responsibilities or obligations. Worry follows us around as a shroud whether we like it or not, for it is a natural force that, if absent, can lead us into danger we are unable to escape or defeat.
We can have degrees of freedom, sure. We can remove oppressive regimes, remove worries one at a time to be replaced by those more mundane, lower working hours and get more vacation, remove the freedom to take advantage of others one step at a time, release our handles on responsibilities for a few moments to rest and recuperate… But never true freedom, for true freedom is to cast your morals aside and not let anything stop you from doing things, even things that are dastardly and deceptive, destructive and dangerous, detrimental and, well, dumb.
Whether it is internally or externally motivated, true freedom barely if ever exists in this world. As much as I’d love to believe it is, there are always actions and consequences, morality and judgements from yourself or others, or some other internal or external force that makes it so it does not absolve you with freedom. It’s always freedom for or from something.
Perhaps, within the subjective ideas of freedom, there within lies some sort of true freedom. I hope there is, somewhere.
Also lol hell no the United States isn’t really free, it’s got its own issues. Even the freedom to think contrary to things can be immediately shut down if they deem you a threat. Things like the Red Scare is a very easy example of such. Or even the simple freedom of existing as you are, if the Q Club shooting wasn’t enough proof of that.
If we do its going away.
Hate speech has been increasingly mentioned. I guess peoples feelings have to be protected from unpleasant opinions. It would also appear that the government thinks the population must be told what information is real and what is "fake news", as if we're unable to research it for ourselves.
there's also been talks of banning nazi symbolizm exclusively, but not communist symbolizm despite the fact that both ideologies being genocidal doctrines. I find this quite interesting.
Yes our government is left wing if it wasn't obvious.
Fuck it ill add a bit of gender discrimination in here too.
In 2019, 338 men commited suicide compared to 92 women. But all i hear is how women need more help. We also have gender quotas.
Oh well...

Germany: 94 points. Can’t complain! 👍
In the US freedom of speech is enshrined in the constitution. In that way it's perhaps the most free nation in the world. I'm other ways not so much.
All countries have freedoms.
Your poor education have lead you to believe there is only one brand of freedom, is all.
Fuck you bitch. I hate you
we are free to leave it if we do not like it... but we never do
In theory, yes, as long as you share the same opinion as the narrative. If you go against the “narrative” then you are spreading “misinformation” and you are immediately condemned for spreading misinformation by the powers at be.
I know of no country in which individuals or groups are free to do as they wish
Define freedom. People bang on about it but neglect the fact all countries have laws and regulations.
here's an extreme example.
My country is considering banning nazi symbolizm, which i assume will extend to removing statues of the whiteguard (nazi collaborators)
Hear me out before calling me a nazi.
If i run around with a nazi flag, what crime have i commited? Are there any victims?
Not only would this violate the right of free political expression, its sets a precedent to ban other opinions the government deems unpleasant.
As i said, and extreme example but i think it makes my point
It is more free than most but not as free as it was.
We used to - - - - - -
A little too much freedom if you ask me
Nope, it’s a myth everywhere
It used to.
Are you Canadian?
No it doesn't
Only on paper.
Name one country that is more free than your country.
