There's a front line in areas and Russia is shelling it...60,000 bombs a day. Over 100,000 ukranians are dead or wounded from that shelling, 1/10th of their best military.

So... they are going to need people to hold those trenches. That be you... if what you want is to continue the war. Other "internationals" have gone to front lines, how do you feel about "selective service volunteers". e. g. if you don't go, you are taxed to pay for it, since afterall... you are bankrolling the war. It's just 2 weeks... watch the first video. Could you do it?

The point of this question is: The war is misery for Ukranians... there is no end in sight, and probability is high of casualities and possible, they lose.

My country is thousands of miles away from the fighting; why, exactly, is it impossible for these two countries to discuss an armistice themselves? My government should have nothing to do with this- we're in the middle (well, the start, but we're still inside) the worst recession since the 70's (at BEST), and we've already sent them enough money to buy half the damn country.

Ukraine tried to join NATO, then changed its mind, then tried again and was rejected. It was their decision to not try anything else after that failed- even AFTER Russia stole Crimea from them. If Ukraine's independence is somehow our responsibility, then what exactly are we getting out of the deal? The attitude seems to be that we should take on the responsibilities of an empire, without any of the benefits.

So no, I do not support the war continuing. Ukraine KNEW Putin was a territory-grabbing militaristic lunatic, and chose to do nothing. They made their bed, let them lay in it. Or bow to reason, push NATO all the way east, and include Russia. Then we could actually start acting like men, settling our border disputes with reasoning and bargaining, instead of beating the snot out of each other like coked-up chimps.

As Hawkeye Pierce so eloquently put it, war isn't Hell- "There are no innocent bystanders in Hell. War is chock full of them. In fact, except for some of the brass, almost everybody involved is an innocent bystander.".

Your propaganda posts for Putin and Russia are getting more nonsensical. If Ukraine is losing, again explain them liberating Kharkiv. Remember my friend lives there. Explain the liberation of Kiev, Kherson and rolling back Russian armed forces from Central Ukraine to the East. Right now the fighting is in Donbas. And soon, they will bring the war to Crimea.

We are basically back to the state of affairs "pre-invasion". Russia controls Donbas and Crimea. Ukraine controls everything else. And you want Ukraine to negotiate a surrender.

And don't pretend you care about taxes. We give more military assistance to Israel. They have not been at war in decades. But we give them 4 billion dollars per year.

you are right, it's not about taxes. It's about if they support their govts position on the war with their lives. Most everyone in the west quiet and agreeable (there are no protests in the streets anywhere near me), until they have to put their life on the line.
It looks really good for Ukraine right now, and they've done amazingly holding them off... unless you listen to Scott Ritter, Douglas McGregor and occasionally Wesley Clark... even though he's on CNN... his words..."it's a meat grinder". Then you get a very different view.
The Ukrainians will fight til the last stick is thrown. But stopping this war requires agreement in Washington, the news reports prove that.

Why would the everyday American citizen leave this nation and fight on the front lines for the Ukrainian military? That doesn't make sense.

I mean, you could ask the same question about Russia. You love Russia so much. You think they are entitled to take over Ukraine. Why don't you go and lay down your life to ensure a Russian victory?

I'd go on the ukranian side, but I see the war as mistakes by the west. The politicians could resolve it, but they just said they won't... so it goes on grinding through winter, without power. Americans are funding it, but they will start running low on Ukranians eventually if russia in fact, throws 300k to 750k troops at them. If people believe in this govt they elected.. they can go sit in a ditch with a gun incase the russians try to cross and help them out. Isn't that what friends are for? ... and get shelled in the meantime, and probably never see a russian. kinda like WWI.

My point is... if people had to do that, they'd change their thinking and push to resolve it. Noone is going to win a ground war in East Europe against Russia. That's the fallacy here...

I will when I find one. What I've wanted is the high level, strategy... why started, what they want, how to end it. People in the middle are caught up victims.

@lightbulb You are in no position to lecture folks on ending the war. We know your position about the "mistakes by the West". All of which have been rebutted. You have not given one single explanation about why Putin was allowed to annex territory from Georgia and Ukraine. And keep that territory for over a decade.

I guess in hopes that this would placate him. Then in the weirdest response, you claim Ukraine must placate him again, even as he tried to take Kiev and kill the Ukrainian president.

Then you argue that somehow, this is the fault of Ukraine or some Western leader. . . but not the fault of the actual guy doing the invading and the killing.

Russia can't even field an army of 300,000. What in the world are you even talking about? Why do you base all your arguments on everything you do not know.

1. Russian men are leaving the country to prevent themselves from being drafted.

2. Russian soldiers are abandoning their posts, equipment in the field to flee to other nations or surrender to Ukrainian forces.

3. If the Russians have been so successful post one single victory they have had in the last six months. Tell me how they won, but being driven out of Kherson, Kharkiv, and everywhere else in the nation except for the East. Again my friend in Kharkiv actually ate out with her family at a restaurant last week.

Make it make sense. That's why you need to talk to Ukrainian people on the ground.

And again, nothing you say makes sense. Ukrainians are not trying to invade Russia. They are trying to take back their land. You make things equivalent that are not equivalent. Russia is trying to destroy Ukraine. Ukraine is trying to survive.

Those are two totally different goals. You want to reward aggression, bullying and unlawful behavior.

"We" want to reward courage, ingenuity, and the rule of law.

Again, talk to the "victims". They will tell you all the things you do not wish to hear. They will tell you the truth. Then you can go back to pretending like you know what their wishes are and what they are fighting for.

We know what Russia does when it conquers a country, look at how many women was raped when it went into Germany at the end of WWII. It is a country with a history of mass rape when it wins, as spoils.

Look at the more recent wars too, same thing.

Good thing Ukraine is doing better lately and pushing forward, but Ukraine needs to start hitting targets inside of Russia hard and fast.

Hitting those airbases so deep with drones is a good start, they need to do more of that, and since Russia is targeting civilians in Ukraine, as a war crime and no one cares, Ukraine should be using drones to attack civilians in Moscow.
