Is it possible for me to file a lawsuit against an elementary school?

I want to file charges against the administration of a school I went to back in the 3rd and 4th grades.

For two reasons solely:

• My teacher confiscated my walkie talkie permanently when I had it in her classroom and I told my mother about it and apparently there was literally nothing that either of them could do about it. I never received it back. This was back in 2008.
• Also I think this was in late 2008 or early 2009, but I was writing something on the infield dirt during PE class and this teacher forced me (physically) off the field as he reminded me to "stop writing on the dirt" because it's "for babies". I felt emotionally traumatized and felt like fun was basically sinful.

Not surprisingly this was during the George W. Bush, Barack H. Obama eras when teachers started submitting to neoconservative abusiveness and quasi-dictatorships. Their BS patriot act level behaviors

Can and can, sure you can. I struggle to see how you could make a pursuading enough case on these hard to prove incidents which both sound quite reasonable.

For all we know the teachers may have acted correctly. The first might actually have given it back to your parents but advised against them handing it back to you as it distracted you during school hours. If that claim was made? Dead in the water. Of course if they took it for themselves and said so you might be refunded a walkie talkie and a bit more. Unlikely.

The second one, while perhaps not providing a good reason, basically stopped you from sitting down writing in the dirt instead of partaking in the class. Unless them doing so caused you bodily harm I hesitate to say they even acted wrong. And if it did and you can show it did and has continued to impede your life today? That may be a case. But well, from what you said I imagine most courts would fine you for wasting everyone's time.

So if it was worse than that. Consider how you phrase it. Even if you can bring a case, I sincerely doubt you have any chances of winning one.

but it is good to process this trauma so you get past it. In effect, you felt "bad" about yourself because of the behavior of the teacher. There's a mis interpretation there that could be impacting your life and needs fixed.

Suing is one option. Forgiveness another.

You might want to check to see if there’s a statute of limitations in your area and if it effects your issues.

Yes you can file a lawsuit. However there is probably a statute of limitations and what compensation you might receive is probably far less than your Costa will be.
