I dont understand the logic of you are from where you are born tbh

For example Im born in sweden but im black, I dont claim i'm swedish nor do the swedish people think im swedish, im from where my parents are from which is ghana. But I dont understand why some people outside of sweden think im swedish just because im happen to be born there

Here's the thing about who you are we are all 98% identical twins our DNA is identical twins there might be a Twist here or there but that's because of our parents we get their genes but the color of skin means nothing the color of skin means that our creator made our bodies be able to adapt to any extreme environment that we might be in no matter where we live on this planet our bodies would adapt because of our parents we do get jeans that will give us color of skin and if you were to take 20 black people 20 white people 20 yellow people 20 red people none of them would be the same color black none of them would be the same color white yellow or red you take a thousand of the same people and our skin tones are still different not exactly the same color I learned a long time ago that when we were born we were all given a gift and that gift is choice we can choose who we want to be in this life by the things that we say and we do it has nothing to do with color of skin it's who we are on the inside because if our body is our Temple and when we die it hits the ground but our soul our spirit our energy who we are within that's what lives on so no matter what color you are you choose who you want to be in this life by the things you say and do

My cousin was born in Beijing, she's very much a white woman but she does qualify as a Chinese citizen because she was born within the borders of China. So yes, if a white man is born in China, he gains that citizenship right and is Chinese.

Nationality and ethnicity are two different things. Being a Chinese citizen doesn't make him Asian in the sense that it changes his features and ancestry. He's Chinese but he's still white. If someone calls him Asian for it, I would assume they're being facetious.

With you and your family, you are indeed Swedish as you are a citizen of Sweden and born there, but if you prefer to call yourself Ghana because that's your parents' nationality and relates to your ethnicity, that's fine too. Both are true.

I would say it depends on what your parents are or in this case the white guy born in China. Location has nothing to do with it, it has to do with your family’s lineage.

Depends if you’re asking nationality or just racial heritage. Anybody can be any nationality by way of birth. The NBA player Giannis Antetokounmpo is a Greek national, but he’s not Greek ethnically (or whatever the proper term is), his family lineage is Nigerian.

Americans are not a particular color because we don’t have that ancient heritage, we’re a young country. Probably fair to say indigenous folks are the “true” Americans by this measure. I’m a few different things, but I could say I’m Irish-American, English-American, Scottish-American. Snoop Dogg can say he’s African-American, or a person with more recent ancestors post-slavery could verifiably say they’re Nigerian-American or Ghanaian-American. Somebody can be Korean-American, Mexican-American, Indian-American, etc, etc. Depending on the history of where you’re from, it may be more or less convoluted, but the point is, no matter what your DNA, you are the nationality of whatever country you are born in.

Ethnically, the man would be white. Depending on the laws, he could claim nationality in the place where he's born; I don't know about China.

In answer to your question, he is not ethnically Chinese but might be Chinese as in nationality.

He is not Asian.

But, I agree with the other people. You're Swedish. (I assume you live there still.) That's not your ethnicity or necessarily people group, but that's your nationality. You have cultural and ethnic ties to Ghana and if you moved to live there, then you would be Ghananian. But until you're there, you're whatever you are where you live.

There's a double standard. If you come from a very multi-cultural country like Canada or America anyone can claim they are Canadian or American regardless of their race.

Well to me he'd be a Caucasian/white CHINESE man. He's ethnically a white/caucasian dude but that's like saying African American or Asian American. You KNOW they are from Africa or Asia (they got the ethnic ancestry), but they are also American since they were born here.

So deep down, they are WHITE but they just happen to be Chinese, in a sense of where they are living in currently. At least I'd think of it that way.

There is something of a separation when it comes to ethnicity and nationality. I don't believe the PRC has birthright citizenship; so, if a wholly white person were born inside their borders he/ she would not be considered legally Chinese, nor would they be ethnically Chinese (obviously).

Most countries are synonymous with ethnicity and nationality; only Western countries believe in citizenship/ nationality regardless of Ethnicity.

Not necessarilly. If he grew up in China too then that would be a stronger case along with him being born there. Some countries don't hand out birth right citizenships. I know people who were born in a foreign country simply because a parent of their's was working there but they moved back to their country of origin so they don't claim to be from the birth country but rather where their parents are from. They were raised a vast majority of their life in the parent's country.
